    Love following along with the build progress, out of curiosity will you need to have Heimdall Q plated with the second hand modified chassis, or will it fall under exemption from Iva/sva inspection as the vehicle is over 10 years old.. the dvla website is confusing. I was looking at what you can get away with for the 40years historic tax exemption regarding engine conversions etc I’m just in the middle of binge watching the build 😅

    • @All4Overland
      @All4Overland 16 часов назад

      Hi mate...fortunately the chassis technically is not second hand it was an unregistered chassis that has been lying around for 20years..and as for the sva that is something that i will have to look into when i get closer to the end of the build.

    Daft question...why not leave the wheels on the axle, lift the car & chassis with crane wheel axle out & in

    • @All4Overland
      @All4Overland 9 дней назад

      Hi...the reason we took the wheels off as they would not clear under the body of the other truck for removal given the size of the tyres. The rear axle we could not wheel out cos of the legs the canopy is sitting on and we couldn't lift the front high enough to clear the wheel arches so just easier to drop it to the floor and drag it out.

    • @Mothership110
      @Mothership110 9 дней назад

      @@All4Overland I got clearance by gaining elevation from the crane

    • @All4Overland
      @All4Overland 8 дней назад

      Couldn’t lift the body any higher cos of the canopy is sitting on the legs behind the vehicle so as I said in the video when we did lift it the angle was pulling on the canopy and nearly pulled out the rivnuts so only option is to remove the wheels in hindsight should have pulled the body further away from the canopy but too late once already removed one of the axles

    Due to the previous chassis cracking and additional load, Have you considered dual shocks at the rear to reduce percussion stress on the chassis?

    • @All4Overland
      @All4Overland 9 дней назад

      Hi..yes i have thought about putting dual shocks on the rear but the aim of this rebuild is to reduce the weight of the truck overall and alot of the cracking in the old chassis was just due to the chassis rotting out from the inside out but will see how much it weighs when we get it back together.

    • @All4Overland
      @All4Overland 9 дней назад

      Hi mate...it is going to be a great truck when its done i think...as for treating the holes with where they have been drilled out i have only taken the excess galvy off and there is still a layer of galvy in there so they won't rust and most of the bolts have already been treated with lanoguard grease..i always used to put grease on all the bolts when i was putting them in i don't bother too much these days as they don't stay in long enough but i do put grease on those that are going to be on for a long time.

    As someone who has recently gone through all of this I feel I qualify to properly sympathise! Unfortunately I didn't have anyone to help so I ended up having to bolt 4x hardwood legs to the chassis. This enabled me to roll everything under -but I am also on a gravel hill in the Australian subtropical bush -and I decided to build it in our summer 🤷‍♂...anyway, so why do we do this to ourselves again?? -On the plus side, I just took the freshly built rig on tour and it was a great success. Made all the effort worth it 🍻

      Hi mate...first of all i can sympathise with your build as well as that sounds way harder than mine...but why oh why do we put ourselves through this? except for the satisfaction of having that freshly built truck that we know every nut and bolt of and no matter where we are if it breaks down we can probably fix it.

    Golden opportunity to paint the chassis, 2 coats Corroless outside, Dinitrol or Bilt Hamber S50 inside & it's protected pretty much indefinitely. Imho looks much better shiny black than dull Galv with rusty red spots after it's started to deteriorate (Shiny Galv is lovely but unfortunately stay like that)? Your truck,, chassis looks great tho! I was going to pull the front axle for some repairs and re-painting, but my drive is pea gravel on a slope, and having watched this, I may rethink that idea!

    • @All4Overland

      Hi...we are not gonna paint the chassis as its a pain to get paint to stick to galvy anyway it stone chips really easily even if you acid etch it...so we are going to lanoguard it all when we finish inside and out. And a for removing the front axle its a paint..Trust me!

Hoping to get it finished tommorow but (at best) I'll probably be spending the entire morning trying not to set it on fire with a propane torch while I try to dry inside the sills before I finish the welding and then go nuts with the waxoyl. A very small bit of constructive advice. PLEASE stop changing the name of your channel. It’s hard to find my way back to your channel after a name change. Also, if you do change it again make it your name or Teddy’s shed or something that stands out. There are more 4x4 and Overland channel then stars in the night sky. Plus you could then do non overland related stuff. I would quite happily watch you design and built furniture, a deck, or shop infrastructure stuff which would also help you bring in a broader sponsorship variety. None of this is meant to be negative, I just don’t want you to get lost in the crowd of off-road channels and I would like to find my way back to you videos when it’s been a couple weeks and I haven’t had any notifications that i recognize as your channel. Thank you very much for taking the time to share your knowledge and what projects you are working on.

      Hi mate...first of all i am glad you are enjoying the content on the channel...but we have not changed the name of the channel for over a year as All4Overland is the name we are now happy with and will be keeping...the best way to keep up with the channel is to make sure you are still subscribed and click on the notification bell as we do try to put up a new video every week...and as for doing other things on the channel the way the algorythm works on youtube it would not let us do it as it would keep the videos virtually invisible and that is why we are sticking to the Overlanding and the truck builds...Regards Paul

    With regards to your storage draw. Have you seen, Vanvault's, slim slider, S10880? I have one, and it has close to full extension without the use of draw slides. It may be worth looking at one to, dear I say copy and make something similar out of aluminium. I live in Leeds if you are unable to get to have a look at one.

    • @All4Overland
      @All4Overland 23 дня назад

      Hi mate i have just looked at the drawers online and that is exactly the sort of thing i was going to build if i could find one premade that would fit i would quite happily buy one to save time.

    • @johndelaney5889
      @johndelaney5889 23 дня назад

      @All4Overland unfortunately they are steel not aluminium. But it's the method they use to extend the draws I was thinking about. It would be easily repeatable. They have small bearing races to create the actual slide out mechanism.

    • @johndelaney5889
      @johndelaney5889 23 дня назад

      Incidentally, it looks cheap to replicate and easy and strong.

    Were the rock-sliders bought or fabricated? Just fitted a pair to my D2 and, honestly, I think bolting them to the sills is a bit questionable (although, TBH, they're really just intended to replace my rusty OEM sidesteps) but, if they bolted to the chassis, the outriggers would need to be like girders before they'd be more useful than the ones that bolt to the sills. I'm kind of interested to see how rock-sliders fit to things like Jeeps or Land Cruisers. Maybe the chassis rails on other vehicles are wider apart so there's less leverage on the sliders? It's not a big deal for me cos, as I said, I really just need them to work as sidesteps so I can reach the roof.

    • @All4Overland
      @All4Overland 25 дней назад

      Hi mate the rock sliders were a set that i bought that originally bolted to the sills but i think that is a terrible idea so i chopped that off and made them so they bolted to the outriggers as i don't need a set to be rocksliders as i need them to be a set of side steps for getting in and our of vehicle and up to the roof tent. so the next set are proably going to be aluminium and just be side steps to save weight.

    Watched this a couple of days ago, but just happened across the latest Ed China video (ep 62) where they've dipped a range rover chassis over at Shropshire galvanisers. Really interesting insight in to the process and the extra bits they did to make sure the acid dip and galv all drained out correctly and took to the chassis. I imagine it'll be exactly the same process for yours so well worth a watch for anyone interested.

    • @All4Overland
      @All4Overland 26 дней назад

      Hi...we will be having ours dipped at Stoke galviers so not that far away from shropshire galviers but the process is exactly the same...the chassis will be acid dipped and then galvied. Like the one that Ed had done we have degreased it and had it shot blasted and drilled some extra drain holes where necessary...but it is really important to make sure there is no grease or paint left inside the chassis. I am actually half way through the video that Ed did so will have to finish watching it later...glad you enjoyed our video.
