Remember: If Pokémon Bank or Pokémon Transfer just sort of happen to appear on your 3Ds even though the eShop is closed, they will function normally and you can use them as intended. That is, if they just magically appeared on your home screen.
well the license to use them is free and in the us you have the right to modify game consoles. so there's no real reason to be this vague. i would personally only think peopel in japan would get fucked for this.
When Pokémon Bank first came out I was so happy to transfer all of my Pokémon from my childhood so I could finally see them in 3D. All of first Pokémon from Leafgreen, all of my Pokémon from my second ever game Platinum, and all of my Pokémon from W/W2. Fast forward to 2016 I boot up my 3DS to revisit my childhood and I get a notification saying my Bank account was deleted. I was devastated, all of my childhood Pokémon gone. Needless to say I still have a sour taste when it comes to the Pokémon Company.
Wow... that must absolutely suck. I don't blame you for not liking the Pokemon Company after that, that was a really scummy thing for them to do to you :( This probably isn't a unique case, I'm sure many people like you lost their pokemon because of this, and that sucks to think about.
I remember seeing people back then actually complaining that $5 a year was too insanely greedy instead of being free. But, like... it's $5 for 365 days
It's a slippery slope sorta thing, that and transferring pokemon to future gens was a given at that point since we had two whole generations of it at that point
And now you have to pay $15 a month just to access all the features of the game, so yeah, I'd say it was bad, plus going from free transfer to paid transfer is shitty
@justenoughrandomness8989 compared to today's prices yeah Compared to back then....hell no, considering that you have to pay like $40 or $50 for the cartridge itself.
I remember I managed to get a Totodile through the GTS after the crash. I was frantically breeding as many as I could trying to get shinys so I could get some rare pokemon off the GTS for them. If you had an otherwise unattainable starter or legendary while transfer was unavailable you could pretty much name your price on trades.
It was such a ridiculous thing. Pokemon company loves exclusivity. What makes them think we have a Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, then a DSi and a 3DS to transfer all the way to the most recent title? Not to mention that it’s $5 a year. It was a big waste of time anyway. I had a Greninja, Staraptor, and Flygon from X and Y that I tried sending to Sword and Shield. Only Flygon made it.
I took a Pokémon hiatus after Gen 4 and picked it back up at the tail end of Gen 8. Sometimes, I regret the hiatus because I missed so much. But on the bright side, I was never subjected to these growing pain moments.
8:38 brother placed a bank logo on India lol. It's almost 2025 and Nintendo still doesn't recognize us as a country, the eShop is still unavailable here.
The worst thing that would happen on Bank is when I would spend 40+ minutes looking at summaries, designing my next team (I had so many teams), or just organizing my boxes and looking for Pokemon to release or wonder trade, the wifi would briefly disconnect and then all my progress wouldn't be saved, and the app didn't have the courtesy to tell me I was wasting my time by continuing to organize my boxes without taking notes on what moves I did!!
It's always a cruel stupidity that Nintendo makes games that sell billions of copies, but designs them with infrastructure barely suitable for like a university seminar
I remember this year so well. It was mass chaos. Distruction. Poke-war. Mass-histaria. I almost didn't make it out alive! I distinctly remember some parts of the internet planned a Christmas wondertrade event, where we'd wondertrade starters and other cool Pokemon on Christmas day to those who were just getting the game... Yeah that... That didn't work out how we wanted it to.
I had entirely forgotten about this. I remember being disappointed but I had just gotten X the day after christmas with a gift card so I wasn't too pressed about it.
Out of all the things that could have lagged any varient of the e shop, the two funniest are absolutely Japan screwing up the servers trying to get pokemon bank, and everyone else screwing them up 7 years later when Steve was in smash.
I remember playing online on Christmas Eve and being annoyed by japanese players having access to more pokemon, moves, etc. I also remember selling most of my DS games without transferring my dear pokemon to Black because they wouldn't be accessible anyway, what a bad mistake that was.
It might have looked incompetent at the time, but I think that this Pokemon bank incident was a necessary lesson for Nintendo to learn. All you have to do is look at later incidents like Joker being added to the Smash Bros DLC lineup breaking the Nintendo servers, which only lasted a few hours in comparison and didn’t result in Nintendo having to unplug Joker and try again later.
Now I know why I remember some places getting to transfer Pokemon early, which I could clearly see on the GTS. I somehow completely missed the Nintendo Network crashing due to it that year.
Ok so. You said Nintendo Network went down. Do you mean, just the eshop, or ALL of Nintendo Network. Because if online play got completely knocked out that’d be really funny ngl
I think I remember this as I got my first 3DS and Pokemon X along with it that Christmas and I remember not being able to access the online features of the 3DS for a couple days. I had no idea it was because of Pokemon Bank but I know I was annoyed that I couldn’t get my early purchase bonus Pokemon
Ah yes the true day that the eshop closed the 27th of march 2013

I remember getting the pokemon bank Celebi, and someone online with XY voice chat told me a trick to clone Pokémon that consisted in turning off the console at a certain point of the trade animation It was a scam (no way) and my Celebi got stolen, so I asked my sister to intal the Pokemon bank on her 3ds so I could get one again
So this was a real thing, i thought i mandela effected this since i could never find concrete info online a while ago. This means i really did lose most of my childhood pokemon when i started playing again a few years ago
They should’ve realized everyone would be using gift cards and registering new consoles and stuff. I just wish they’d quit making the US and Europe wait longer for stuff You made the March date look like May 3 lol. Confused me briefly
Last upload of the year! Thank you for watching and I’ll see you guys for more epicness in 2025 🥳
Hi

Merry Christmas Bro! Really excited to see your projects next year!

I never knew that Christmas or Pokemon were things that existed. This video is 1000x better knowing this.
Exactly I'm glad I'm not the only one it mysterious appears on my recommendation even I never heard of pokemon or seen a video about it
And how are these things immediately popular?
Guys just check your pockets everything will become clear.

If you do the math, Pokémon Bank was 42 cents/month
Nah, that's too expensive.

Damn Nintendo 3ds eshop looped the full cycle of time to last from 2014 to 2013. That in Nintendo quality.
