Thank you Cole, this could have not come at a better time. I was in a not-so-good place in my head and this gave me the perspective I needed. It's one of those things I kind of knew but forgot because things were going too smoothly until several days ago where I fell back into old thinking patterns. Super good advice and thank you again.

“Learning how to think" really means learning how to exercise some control over how and what you think. It means being conscious and aware enough to choose what you pay attention to and to choose how you construct meaning from experience. Because if you cannot or will not exercise this kind of choice in adult life, you will be totally hosed.” -David Foster Wallace

@@c1eanpow3r it is a little bit of a higher concept if you explain this law in detail but basically it says that before you can get something in the material world your first have to become it in your mind. For example: if you want money, you have to FEEL (be) wealthy/rich/like you have a lot of money. In that way you can attract it into your life because you "have the lock" (the emotional state or actually the belief of wealthiness) so the key has to come to you (money). This concept can be applied to everything.

When you force yourself to accept the situation your in and the way you feel, that's when you will be able to adapt to it and this is how the pain stops. It gets worse once you get in a negative feedback loop not of the bad emotions themselves but the negative feedback loop of using that philosophy - life gets so hard sometimes it's hard to apply "accept the situation" thinking. And once you fuck that up after learning that skill in the past - you start to think you may have lost it forever. Which leads to even more fighting with the emotions. I am currently in a situation like this, where embracing the bad times is just not helping or I can't do it anymore as I used to.

Being a sailboat and using the sails and winds to help us along in life as opposed to resorting to an offboard motor that forces the motion towards what we're seeing as a relief from the present moment.
Your final statement mentioning floating reminded me of how it is to float in water. If we just lay back and let ourselves float, we will, but when we first do it it's unfamiliar territory and the concern for sinking is ever looming until we simply let go and just be. Just "float on"

In short, live life in the "flow state". If you havent heard this term, it is the state of when you are so absorbed in a task, you "lose yourself". Like athletes in their big game. You just become one with the moment. This is why meditation is so helpful. If you can become one with the breath (flow state) you can actually live in this state. That is my goal at this time

I am studying to become a pre school teacher and this is really what we would call being in a flow state. It is something between anxiety and boredom. When kids play they are in this state of flow. Because they do not think about the past or the future, they just are in the moment. Even if we are talking about this state in a playing context it can also be applied to whatever situation we are in or whatever task we do. For example when a surgion is doing a surgery on someone they do not think about anything they just are so focused on theire task that they get into a flow state. I think we get into a all in or nothing state, where we either push ourselves so hard that we get anxiety about it or we do not do anything and get bored and depressed. It is really self destructing and I am glad you took up this. And I actually needed it right now, because I had a really bad day, so perfect timing I guess. Thank you!

Great message! As Jiddu Krishnamurti put it, "The observer is the observed". When there is no distinction between the observer and the thing being observed, there will be no conflict and what's left is just the experiencing itself.

Reminds me of the stoic dichotomy of control. You can really only control your own actions, nothing more. Therefore adapting to circumstances you can't change only seems logical.

I learned this lately cycling...I've started to use my bike to get around quite a bit. Sometimes the wind blows and makes it more difficult to get where you're going...but to get mad at the wind or the situation makes absolutely zero sense. Accept that the wind will blow you some days from the front, some days from the side, some days from the rear...and on a rare day there is no wind at all. Enjoy the wind which ever way it finds you! Great video! BTW I was born in Cheektowoga, but my parents moved away in 1970, so I never grew up there. I grew up in the South but live in Utah now, after living all over in the military for 20 years. Peace!

nice work!! another great quote that helped me accomplish what you are talking about is: "Let Everything happen to you, beauty and terror. Just Keep going - NO feeling is Final." (don't remember who wrote it). ❤️

We should also consider not catastrophizing because there is a possibility we may be wrong or someone else may be right. There are many potentials and many possibilities, we instinctively want certainty to alleviate anxieties of the worst-case scenario but in doing so causes us underlying low-level anxiety throughout the day. Emotional freedom comes from acceptance and perseverance in a positive internal dialogue, emotional intelligence then helps us understand others and ourselves which helps us understand the world of human values, filters, and communication.

It's hard to believe, but it's so true and what I'm learning as a hard truth right now. If you don't face your environment, feelings or future or past, then you will feel stuck. But once you face that really difficult thing, and yes it probably will suck, but it will be freeing.

It’s crazy how I was just being mindful about my chronic pain and thinking about how I want to give up my ptsd and then this video comes up, I live with a headache everyday caused by a pharmaceutical, it is less pain full because I had migraine surgery but I’m only 2 months and 1/2 weeks out from surgery, I like to feel like I’m floating but sometimes I spiral down and I am hyperventilating and I realized the cycle of emotions that cause this, sometimes I feel like I’m solving a rubics cube in my head and I’m just glad for the moments I let go and I feel more like me, time to start being so I can’t start living
