This one def took a little bit longer than it should have. Decided to spend more time focusing on the presentation of each gun. Let me know know what y'all think about the new style.
For me the MG42 firing .308 rounds isn't really an issue for me, because after WW2 when German army just simply used a modified version of the MG42 called the MG3 (which by the time of this comment it's still in German service) and it fires the .308 round.
War time MG42s were also modified before original production of 7.62 NATO chambered machine-guns started. The Wartime production guns that had their receivers partially rebuilt were labelled MG1, new production was MG2. MG3 came later, but all MG1s and MG2s were later upgraded to MG3 standards.
@@wolfehoffmann2697 back when my pal was in basic, they still had some of the og. MG42s that were converted, including the old markings. Those things run forever if taken care of, it aint fiction that some might be still around after 200 years, if you have the spare parts that is.
As someone who prefers single shot, precision rifles, I can feel the power of these machine guns leaking through my screen, and I have to admit, seeing these machine guns, and the quality of the audio and designs brings a bigger smile to my face than any sniper can! Additionally: I really liked the way you presented the guns for the video, as well as the ranking system. I myself personally prefer assault rifles and usually keep it at semi-auto by default in games. All the while I keep a pistol at my side for “just-in-case” situations. That being said, messing around with machine guns is pretty refreshing every once in a while.
yeah it sucks. the only thing that can hold me over for the time being is the NV LMG from the lore-friendly 5.56 pack. nothing beats the sound of a 240b though.
Since we now have weapons like the p90 in the Combined Arms expansion mod that shows the rounds in the magazine disappear in real time, I hope we can see a machine gun where you can see the last of the belt go into the gun as it empties.
@@tempgamefreakgaming Well, I don't see why it couldn't work the same way as for this p90. If there's a way to remove/make invisible small models representing rounds of ammo for each shot, an emptying ammo belt would work the same way, except it only actually does anything visible for the last 4 or so rounds of a mag.
So, I have a theory that the FO4 "Assault Rifle" was originally a squad support weapon, similar to the USMC IAR where it was kinda halfway between an LMG and infantry rifle. There's no reason to have a barrel cooling jacket on an infantry rifle unless your expecting it be to used for sustained automatic fire. I think that later, when power armor was deployed, it then got repurposed as the standard weapon for power armor equipped infantry and so picked up the Assault Rifle name as it was the standard "Assault Rifle" (for Power Armor). If you look at the model in game, it looks absolutely ridiculously unwieldy for standard characters, but looks perfect fine in power armor (whereas other weapons like the combat rifle and smg look comically undersized).
I had the MG42 mod, and allowed it to be distributed to enemies through the level lists. Imagine my surprise when I was getting destroyed by every gunner boss. I wasnt even safe in power armor. I had to remove it from enemy distribution it was so damn OP

Weapons specific comment, the mg42. I was in the first oh I don't know, couple weeks of playthrough when I had this mod installed. I come across one with the never-ending perk. I'd also managed to score up a little over 4,000 rounds. And then I had the blessing slash horrific mistake of downloading death by kitties zombie mod. Apparently it was one of the trigger points for the zombies, when all was said and done I had 16 rounds left, a distinct need to poop and was in dire need of a hug.
Actually the 249 has a major issue: the reload sound effect when used by an NPC is crazy loud, like it sounds like its being reloaded right in your ear regardless of how far they are from you. The other issue with that mod is Combined Arms has major crash issues when NPC's use them.
I was looking for good ones and luckily I came across one of the two people I fully trust with Gun related Mods, low on space yet good quality is what I look for
I was an expert gunner in the army. That m249 mod is perfect for fallout. They even modeled the m4 mag well. IRL side note, never use m4 mags on a 249. It doesn’t feed right. And it’s only there for a “oh shit” situation.
The MG-42 is actually a General Purpose Machine Gun (or GPMG) and it actually sort of was the first of its kind. It was used as offensive infantry machine gun, defensive mounted, vehicle mounted and anti aircraft machine gun and was (together with the MG-34) the only official machine gun used by the Wehrmacht. Of course there were foreign and captured guns used too like the ZB. 26.
The ability for the m349 to take ar mags is often forgot by devs so to be able to not only take the 30rd but the quad stack and the double drum nutsack is beutiful
Once you start modding machine guns, they get real ugly real fast. Smooth, dark, cold steel and shiny redwood furniture is where it's at. Good showcase over all though. I love the M60.
I also want to say that technically the mg42 was used after ww2 in the german military up until recently, and is still used by a lot of minor European like Italy in the form of the mg3, a modification of the mg42 to use 7.62x51 mm nato cartridges.
You brought up the M249's ability to use box magazines which, historically, it was designed to do. However, it is not the only 'SAW' that was designed with that concept in mind. The IMI Negev is also capable of doing so and, while not mentioned on this list, the RPK is designed to take both 40 round box magazines as well as use standard AK/AKM 30 round magazines.
Howdy, noticed your post about lack of user reaction and decided to put my constructive criticism here instead to give it a better shot of actually being seen. I really liked the first few minutes of the mod review here. The cinematic presentation definitely does a lot of heavy lifting when it comes to these sort of things. I think my advice for you would be to find a 'style' to present these things with that will give you an edge here. There are a lot of Fallout 4 mod channels, most of them reviewing the same material. One reviewer has begun making their own mods, which gives them an edge. I remember another a long while ago giving roleplay ideas that went with the guns and armors. I remember another particularly nerdy one that made entire little stories to explain the presence of the modded weapons. Things like that are what I think this needs. Your presentation is extremely professional and very well edited, I think it just needs an edge. Hope this was helpful! Edit: Upon reflection, you put so much polish into the basic presentation that it's almost a style all on it's own. I think it just needs something to put it up over the edge, and all go to these if I've seen the weapon already or not. Very well done!
thanks for the comment, and yes, i definitely put in a lot of effort in the presentation of each mod. its different from everyone else, and i was hoping it would give me the edge, but in general people dont seem as interested in fallout 4 mods as they were a few months ago. could be a lot of factors, but i do need something that makes my channel stand out even more.
I haven’t fired the M249 variant, but I have fired the Canadian C9 variant and we all hated it as a plastic pos that won’t just jam, but straight break apart and the magazine port rarely every functioned properly on any of the ones I fired. So I can’t download this mod without thinking about that. Now the C6 was a fine piece of machinery, just heavy piece of metal stamped together to make a raw power medium machine gun. I loved that gun. I’d take that mod any day
Great #1 choice! Being a previous saw gunner I can say with confidence that you can definitely lay the hate down. You are well versed in this particular light machine gun, most wannabe's are unfamiliar with the gas system of the gun and how to adjust the rate of fire. Hats off to ya! Keep up the great work!
There are a lot of MG42s on the US NFA registry and I'd wager a good number of them have been converted to .308 so the owners can enjoy cheaper and easier to find ammo. There are all kinds of caliber conversions for belt feds on the US civilian market. I've got a 7.62x54R conversion for my 1919 and a .300 black out conversion for my SAW. I've seen a lot of different conversions for the MG42 on Strum over the years including a 7.62x39 conversion kit. The explosive ammo also exists. It's a spotter round with a small explosive charge. On the RPD Every 25-50 rounds the empty belt sections fall off. RPD gets a lot of love but the ones I've had aren't very reliable. The modernized ones depicted were made by DSA Inc. in the US. M249 and M240 are in the top 5 guns I own but casing links at the range is a pain so chasing them down in the wasteland doesn't seem like it would be appealing. IRL you really don't see the links or brass ejecting because the gun shoots all of that down towards the shooters feet which is a problem if you've set up a makeshift nest to shoot the gun prone in. I've burned my forearms on brass a lot doing that. M240 ejection is so violent it can cut you pretty deep if brass and links get piled up too high so we try to clear the area under the gun every 200 rounds. M249s like to eat STANAG feed lips on AR mags so I only run mine with M27 links. I notice the ejection port is always closed on the model though.
I miss these mod videos, they always made my day. Hopefully with the surge in interest for the Fallout games that it'll inspire you to make them again.
yeah the common theme of downsides for machineguns is the belt feeding mechanism not being animated for empty reloads. understandably that is a limit of the game engine and not needing to differentiate between a full mag and an empty one I think there's mods that fix that but I can't be asked to go through the effort to install any of those and their patches for my guns in game, so I just reload before the belt is empty and ignore that minor pain of detail.
The MG-34/42 is my top number One favorite among the MG's. I love the design, sound, reload effect. Semi-automatic pinpoint aiming, there's nothing to complain about
I always love to see modders do what Bethesda didn't, couldn't or wouldn't. The assault rifle and machine gun in vanilla are atrocious crimes against gun design and modders really pulled off some beautiful work here. Probably would pick the PKM over the M249 because of the belt-fed shotgun option. Very Metro 2033 right there.
Even if my Fallout barely can't take news mods without crashing, i do love thoses mods reviews. The PKM and M249 are my go to against Big mutants ennemies in my "Fallout Métro, Tarkov expérience" ?
the inconsistency kf the firing sound is actually realistic. As the internal pressure in the gas mechanism fluctuates, the fire rate can fluctuate also.
Hey, Just a quick note for the author of the PKM if they are watching The support hand is placed incorrectly, it is literally the first thing that they teach you not to do while holding the gun in patrol. This way your left hand is going to get deep fried. For patrol, or in this case lowered stance for sprinting/dialogues the operator holds the left leg of the bipod. For aiming and firing You always hold the bottom side of the box magazine. Also there is a distinct and satisfying sound when You pull the links out of the mag. I do not know if You have any experience with the gun, if You do then You know what I'm preaching about. The mechanics animations are spot on, the handlings need some rework. Thanks
Hearing the M60 steady firing is like hearing the best song you've ever heard. It's that good... Because of personal preference... Not just mine... But yours.
While all of these guns are good. I want to mention some of my favorite in no particular order: -FNV LMG (By Jkruse) -Bren by the FOLON team -Another One's BAR -M91 LMG from Warfighter and the COD dev team.
Average Brandy being obsessed with modern and "Tacticool" guns The m-60 and RPD deserve first place, not the m249 What is the 10 aesthetics, aesthetics of what? Of tacticoolness?
Far Cry 4 had a unique variant of a MG42. it had a higher armorpenetration value than a rocket launcher. i shot a half second burst at a distant helicopter. first i thought nothing happened but then with a comical delay of like 5 seconds little puffy clouds came out of it and it crashed
In my opinion the M60, RPD, and MG42 can fit in the fallout universe since the M60 and RPD were made around the 1950-60s, and the MG42 was made literally before those so these 3 guns being in the fallout universe could be a possibility. However one issue I have is the M249 and the PKM, these weapons just seem too advanced and modern for a game meant to take place in a world themed in the 1950-60s. But if people really have a problem with no machine gun being in fallout 4 then just add the Light Machine Gun or a varient of Bozar from New Vegas, they're both Canon weapons and can fit in the fallout universe. But that's just my opinion.
Facts: Bethesda believe according to Todd Howard's thoughts. The series supposed to be like Fallout 3 and Vegas for number 4, but aware it made confusing and easy to beat the game. Until it switched to online game.
This one def took a little bit longer than it should have. Decided to spend more time focusing on the presentation of each gun. Let me know know what y'all think about the new style.

Great video! I would put the RPD, the MW M91 and the M249 at the top 3 though.
Ok so is nobody gonna talk about how Brandyboy got his settlement invaded by raiders?
7:10 actually they made exploding 8mm Mauser so it’s not THAT unrealistic lol
War Daddys MG42 was on my mod list for so long
I absolutely adore the M60, I find it such a cool gun, from movies like Full Metal Jacket to Rambo, if it could talk it'd have stories to tell!
Hey,
Just a quick note for the author of the PKM if they are watching
The support hand is placed incorrectly, it is literally the first thing that they teach you not to do while holding the gun in patrol.
But yours.
The reason for the MG 42's textures being low res is because I'm *pretty* sure that specific model and its textures are ported from Payday 2.
The MW2-3 music is such a niche but cool addition
Fantastic video.
I like that you used a call of duty world at war soundtrack for the mg42.
amazing video i love these recomendations i love number 3 the most it looks so good
"Number 4 the mg42" * erika starts playing*
Great work, my man. More videos like this.
pulled from every call of duty gun selection screen ever and pasted into fallout 4, how riveting
20:50 the Israeli Negev lmg is belt fed and can take rifle mags too :)
love the black ops soundtrack great video
I think the sound for the rpd works just fine I kinda like it
While all of these guns are good. I want to mention some of my favorite in no particular order:
-FNV LMG (By Jkruse)
-Bren by the FOLON team
-Another One's BAR
-M91 LMG from Warfighter and the COD dev team.
The bottle cap / Doug score is fucking killing me dude! 🤣
Amazing top 5. I'm going to try some of them! 😉
IMI Negev can also be mag fed as well as belt fed. Negev is also more reliable in doing so than M249 because of adjustable gas block.
Sup bro edit: I gotta get back to work I’ll finish watching next break
ok see ya in a few :)
Jarhead here. Can confirm, didn't take care of our SAW. 😂 (Besides the weight, I preferred the M240B).
Average Brandy being obsessed with modern and "Tacticool" guns
The m-60 and RPD deserve first place, not the m249
What is the 10 aesthetics, aesthetics of what? Of tacticoolness?
epic, didn't know I waited for it :) thanks man!
remember to endorse people!
Awww yeeeaaahh, my favorite category of weapons!!
What im learning from this is that fallout tactics has a shit ton of machine guns
Awesome video as always! Also I love how these mods always rip animations from cod mw2019 because they are just so good
Far Cry 4 had a unique variant of a MG42. it had a higher armorpenetration value than a rocket launcher. i shot a half second burst at a distant helicopter. first i thought nothing happened but then with a comical delay of like 5 seconds little puffy clouds came out of it and it crashed
Love the vid, but what outfit mod are you using for the RPD girl?
The Fallout 4 “Assault rifle” was supposed to be their official LMG, but it was created as “assault rifle”.
In the COD games i played YEARS ago, i always took 2 LMGs or an LMG/ Sniper
Overkill perk my beloved
Unless the mod author of the M249 built in a mechanic for it jamming after like 3 shots from the magazine, it just won't be realistic.
In the modern weapons pack the m60 has Options for optics
Everything is lore-friendly to fallout, it's the perfect setting, post-apocalyptic nuclear-mutated world.
Hey YT you better not hide this video with some BS reason. Its good content.
LOL - 19:50 "my emotional support machine gun"!! LMAO!!
20:45 The IWI Negev can use (Galil) Mags too
I love the touch of COD WAW music to the MG42... My respect 🙏 (And CW music for the RPD 😭)
The IWI Negev has the ability to feed from magazines, and it does so far more reliably than the M249 SAW.
Alot of Eugene Stoner's LMGs could accept magazines as well feed from belts from the Stoner 63 to the Ares Shrike to the Ultimax 100
good to know, I was unaware
The ultimax was a Stoner design?
Facts: Bethesda believe according to Todd Howard's thoughts.
The series supposed to be like Fallout 3 and Vegas for number 4, but aware it made confusing and easy to beat the game.
Until it switched to online game.
