Andy, Last time I watched and subscribed you were flying around your living room. You've bounded ahead since I last checked in. Well done! This is epic.
I can see that LOTS of people in our hobby will be using one of these, because aerial views optimially utilize the advantages of the Sphere and its software. Thank you for the expose!
Great Video. I can already see a new line of FPV flying, using a 5.8g version of this style of camera feeding a VR headset. FPV with the ability to look into the corner and check your six.
I watch your videos every night but just so happens I missed the best ones of the year as I was away from the computer over the weekend. Well here I go to catch up. LOL *Dance the Skies*
VERY impressive thinking here Andy with your utilizing this new tech on the drones. Too cool. I commend you on being an originator, always entertaining and intelligent in your delivery. You are a pleasure to watch and learn from, outstanding knowledge delivery sir. Jeff
It is quite expensive even with the flash sale they have, for someone with the right freestyle quad it's worth it. It's a whole new view we've never had before, I hope it catches on in the way you did the first video. 👍👍
Amazing. ) So it turns out I don't need to replace the GoPro after all.. GoPro was sooo LAST year! I'm not keeping up with this hobby! Lol. Thanks Andy.
From this day hence, yea shall be known as Andy Potter !! Is that a lightning scar on his forehead ??? No thats a 5" prop mark, when he flew a drone into his head... And so the Legend has come to pass !!! This is an amazing piece of kit, being able to see the Quad, from a fixed position as it flipped around was mind blowing. Some one will develope 3rd party software to take bigger advantage of what you could do with this... Stunning stuff Mr.Potter :-D and you put it to great use, very cleaver !!!
I can see mounting this on the end of a boom, using a retract to lower it down below the quad or plane in flight. On the ground, this would be fun on a similar boom or stand above your car while driving in a nice area. Or capturing all of a party, theme park or tourist attraction.
Rather great video. Hey ? I want one. A DR with VR googles. I guess I can upgrade to the 360 set up later ?? I want to have my neighbors plug in too. Like a passenger. But the 360 is TMI. Do you think it will be where ever I look only like I'm in the thing ??
I apologize if you mention this somewhere in your video, but can you edit the raw video files using other video editing software( like powerdirector which supports 360 video)?
theories!! seriously guys. mount cam. get footage. record the footage as you are viewing it. not as a full 360 vid. done. been done before but the way andy presented the video! that was groundbreaking! sneaky bugger lol.
Wow. That reminds me of some original video work they'd show on MTV mid 80s, cutting edge/never before seen. Steve Jobs didn't know what he started either (remember I said that...)
What is the format of the panorama video? Cannot you just copy the recorded video to computer from the microSD without using any app and upload to youtube and youtube detects it as 360 video? Or use a 360 video converter SW on PC? San you share a short ample panoramic video for download recorder and saved from SD without the app?
just seen the review of the Garmin 360 on DC rainmaker. That should give better quality (but heavy). But you really hit a smart thing, editing 360+ quad freestyle. Much better to edit the dancing video+drone on a std video than a movable one
Well, I have to admit that the videos you posted were both cool and interesting, so kudos for that. BTW, your ZMR250 appears to be an upgraded one .. I've left mine as it was originally built with 1806 2300kv motors with a Naze32Acro FC. A bit of a dog by today's standards, but still flies well enough, so there you are. As for Xiaomi, I must say that I personally wouldn't buy anything more advanced than an eggbeater from them after my terrible experience with the *out of focus* YI cam, which they continued to produce out-of-focus for almost a year. Then came their MI drone disaster, which was nothing short of a disaster for both the drone and the APP which was supposed to work with it. I disdain companies who use their initial customers as their own R&D department to figure out the bugs, then get around to fixing them after they've counted all their Yuans up. Again, just a personal thing with me about Company integrity and all that. Thanks for the review and for showing how it was mounted .. was wondering about that myself. As always, Cheers!
Great vid Andy. Thanks so much for sharing. I have learned a lot from you. Could I be incredibly cheeky and ask for a favour? I'm having real trouble getting my ZMR250 tuned-tried various PID's but just seems very wobbly and uncontrollable. Yours looks amazingly stable and locked in and I was wondering if you would be able to share your PIDS? My setup is very similar to your budget quad build video apart from little bee 20a ESC's and the frame.
I hope you might answer me some quiestions about the "Sphere": 1. Are those view-modes in the app ("Mirror ball", "Little planet", "Flat" and especially "Pano") also available in the live-view? 2. Is it only possible to connect the camera for live-view with WIFI or also with a USB-cable? (because of the question "3." about the live-view resolution and lag) 3. What are the resolution (e.g. 1080p?) and the lag (e.g. 500ms?) in the live-view? (not of the saved footage, I know this is 3.5K) 4. I'd like to use this cam for a university-project. Therefore I would need to be able to connect this camera with my smartphone (e.g. Samsung Galaxy S6) in a VR-goggle (e.g. Samsung Gear VR) to see the live-view in the "Pano-mode" on my smartphone. Is there a possibility to achieve this?
We'll have to keep an eye on this one until it has greater support for iPhone. Please keep us updated if something changes in that regard in the future.
Got me to thinking this new tech. If it were underslung on 450 quad with a gimbal, that would make for stunning scenery footage. Also the assumed landing gear would somewhat protect the camera. But like you said, an FPV form factor redesign would benefit all parties involved.
a 360 degree camera for FPV......................................................... Even if you used 1 of the 190 degree cameras it would be horrible to fly with. Also, the latency would be rubbish with that much data to transmit.
I received the camera but I cannot figure out how to record videos with it. I did not found english manual and the APP i downloaded for android com.madv360.madv.apk is not installing on my androide phone some (doogee voyager). When I plug it through USB the battery indicator is constant RED. I don't know is it the fully charged state or why red? It does not change even after and hour of connected. When I insert my microSD card 16GB Class10 Sandisk UHSI and turn the camera on the picture and video iconst blink then video icon BLUE light up. When I click the recording button picture icon blink blue and video icon blinks red does it three times than video icon stays blue does not record anything to microSD just the empty folders and some settings. When I set to photo mode so photo icon lights as blue and hit the record button it also flashes the same pattern red video icon and blue photo icon 3 thimes and does not save any image. If I connect it through usb while microSD is inserted and I turn on the camera PC recognise it as USB mass torage and I can see the files on teh microSD but justthe generated folders and bluetooth settings sometimes a system.log file but no image or video captured. If I leave the device on for some minutes and does not use it the battery indicator start flashing blue... I cannot connect it to wifi to my phone as my phone does not rum the APK. I assume I could start recordings to microSd without having the app and wifi, please help me to acheive this.
This is a fairly well executed idea. However, as you said you have not yet tried it in VR. In VR your video would not be nearly as good. In fact I don't think there is much point to doing it like this. IF you want to create a decent VR video, you are going to need to change your approach. In VR with your current set up over 35% of the image would be lost. Most importantly the parts that you lose would be the most valuable. That is the images of the ground below. NO ONE wants to stare at propellers the whole time. However, I think there is an answer. If you used a much longer tripod mounting screw and extended the camera well above the quad cam those VR images would still work really well. My concerns would be 1)the impact this extension would have on the vibration of the camera and 2) how this would impact flight. I would love to see a real VR version of this same thing.
I downloaded 360 video without stabilization (camera fixed) using Real Downloader, and I believe there is a video editor for pc that can handle this for editing. On my way to work now, will be playing with this footage later to see if I can make it work editing in PC. I will let you know>
Andy, you have just started the next generation of RUclips drone videos.
Andy, Last time I watched and subscribed you were flying around your living room. You've bounded ahead since I last checked in. Well done! This is epic.
+wakeup2truth i still fly around the living room haha
what a blast andy. i want one of the cameras. i do think that footage will go down as one of the funniest fpv videos ever.
I can see that LOTS of people in our hobby will be using one of these, because aerial views optimially utilize the advantages of the Sphere and its software. Thank you for the expose!
Very cool Andy. Still the best quad video of all time. Outstanding
Ahah!! The Magician reveals his secrets.. lol.. nice work Andy..
Great Video. I can already see a new line of FPV flying, using a 5.8g version of this style of camera feeding a VR headset. FPV with the ability to look into the corner and check your six.
You are in a class of your own Andy. You make all other reviewers look pretty lame. Keep up the awesome job.
Music video,Most awesome camera Footage I was browsing your videos and found this video you had made sooooo much talent.
Good video Andy. You mentioned all the drawbacks as well as the good bits. :)
I watch your videos every night but just so happens I missed the best ones of the year as I was away from the computer over the weekend. Well here I go to catch up. LOL
*Dance the Skies*
Love it, you are a wizard Andy, loved watching that
Hell that's witchcraft! I don't understand the half of it but it's great, keep it up Andy.

Very nice piece of HW. The video is stunning. Thanks for sharing.
You are pure genius Andy. I don't know what else to say :)
Truly amazing! There are no bounds to your talents. You up for a fly later?
Amazing. ) So it turns out I don't need to replace the GoPro after all.. GoPro was sooo LAST year!

Another great review, Andy. Can't pretend to understand it but love it all the same! Thank you.
Grats on doing a great job. This video will sell a big pile of these cams, I'll bet

I have absolutely no idea what your talking about but sounds cool

yes thats what I was thinking. I was looking at the garmin but ouch 800 dollars is more than the quad! tempted though!
well, email yr video to garmin to let them send one for free ;)

AndyRC Arrgh! Poo! No worries mate, thanks for taking the time to reply-I appreciate it.
Awesome videos man! You should start selling some signatured drones
i wish i had the man power cheers

sell helicopter rides during frosh week where people piggyback on campus tours with you ;)
Can protek25 could carry this camera sir?
How can I get one of your AndyRC stickers
How do you lock pitch and roll???
We'll have to keep an eye on this one until it has greater support for iPhone. Please keep us updated if something changes in that regard in the future.
Fantastic technology!
Sweet....... Thanks Mr Wizard...
Kid. You are a wizard. A wizard who's a wizard who will serve. :D
Any advanced enough technology is indistinguishable from magic. -Arthur C. Clarke
FPV is possible with this 360 Cam?
Does a Motorola Moto G4 (Snapdragon 617) have enough processing power for this camera's app?
lovely where I can buy one?
gear best the link is in the description cheers
Nice, really nice
All I can say WOW!
"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" Arthur C. Clarke
awesome!😎
Well done. Wow!
thank you Michael

Could you post a link for the mount?
its part of the zmr 250 frame or do u mean the screw? i got it from a hardware store
The mount. Thanks
you could not use it's video out for FPV?
a 360 degree camera for FPV......................................................... Even if you used 1 of the 190 degree cameras it would be horrible to fly with. Also, the latency would be rubbish with that much data to transmit.
Evan77 I assume it can have a video out which is not 360 deg obviously. lots of people prefer 180 deg for fpv
What? People like small field of view because it means that they can continue to look straight ahead. I've never heard of people using 180 degrees.
great!
Facebook is developing the streaming tech you are talking about with only sending the part of the 360 video you are looking at.
Fuck facebook though.
I received the camera but I cannot figure out how to record videos with it.
I did not found english manual and the APP i downloaded for android com.madv360.madv.apk is not installing on my androide phone some (doogee voyager).

The clever bit here is that the camera can't see itself, so there appears to be an invisible connection to the drone.
Andy, I thought a 360 camera is always sphere butttt......

The bee's knees!!
I said that those videos were on 360 cam :)
next step is to mount on a X frame in the center, with all battery and aerial below.
cool
well no more gimbals just use this camera and imagine this in fpv you can just look around
Seriously, release a youtube vr (panorama/3d) video of the flights so we can pan around.
Andy RC to be honest...i think this can change everything ! i will get one it looks Liter then a gopro
they are in the description as mentioned a few times in the vid ;)
its 106 grams not bad eh
I imagine this camera going with 80mph through a parking lot... In VR people will go Like ;wohoooooo
This + Google Cardboard (or similar) would be amazing!
I downloaded 360 video without stabilization (camera fixed) using Real Downloader, and I believe there is a video editor for pc that can handle this for editing. On my way to work now, will be playing with this footage later to see if I can make it work editing in PC. I will let you know>
oh it can be done for sure but not as easy as the built in stitching or as fast
$250-$300!!! whew!!
So..... you're not a witch? What are we gonna do with all these pitchforks?
+jef x make quads out of them :-)
First
thought it was a gimble lol
OK Andy..... your "regular" videos are going to be so lame now, your fault, you've ruined us. LMAO
*Dance the Skies*
Gonna say it again, Xiaomi also make cheap iphone/ipad devices and flagship embarrassing Android phones/tablets.....
Should have quit talking and showed some vid
+Matthew Cunningham should have used the search button better!
