I don't understand why some people just support a brand no matter what they do. (looking at you Apple people, LOL) If you defend everything they do, even if they do something substandard, is not the way to get the best product from that brand. What ever brand you like, you need to call them out when they do something bad as well as good. They need to know this was the wrong way to do this or that. It's your money, let them know you won't spend it on a bad product.

    • @OfficialGamesky

Great video and topic. For me it's pretty basic. I have several budget oriented brands in my collection so I look at what I'm gravitating to when I go to listen. And it's Soundcore. I had an issue with their higher end headphones so it's not that I won't judge them as lacking if it's deserved but I love their sound to price ratio! The A3i's are really good especially!
I've had mixed results with Soundpeats, some good, some didn't work for me, and have actually had more positive results from their Truefree sub brand. Great value there!
I know it's not necessarily part of this discussion, but I've also become a huge fan of KZ products in the IEM market as well. Lots of people hate this brand and they have played some games in the past, so understandable. But, again, when l look at what I'm using to listen to my music with, in IEM terms, it's probably 80% KZ these days. Again, I'm operating in the budget realm there too.
Thanks for providing a forum for this discussion Keith. Much appreciated!

This is actually a good mental exercise, a check on one's own bias if you will. Thinking about which brand I would choose, if I could only buy from one brand, I am torn. In terms of practicality (features) and value Soundcore is a top pick, but in terms of sound for me there isn't anything like Moondrop. While Moondrop doesn't offer much customization as Soundcore I also don't feel the need to fidget anything, their stock settings and tuning already sound great for me.
Moondrop takes the win, they have wired iems, headphones, portable dac/amps, and even a bluetooth neckband. Their sound usually punches above their price range and their product designs are nice to look at. Open earbuds are not a trend yet within Chi-Fi but I would like to see their take on this style; switching between the Moondrop 1979 and the Aerofit Pro during this hot season has helped me avoid earwax build up and painful inflammations in the ear canal. An open earbud tuned by Moondrop sounds like a promising proposition, to me at least.

To my ears my Earfun Air Pro 3 has beat my Sony XM4, my Sennheiser CX Plus SE, my Soundcore Liberty Pro2 including the upgraded edition, my Klipsch T5 2, my Soundpeats Engine 4, strictly based on my sound preferences and the fact I never use noise canceling etc. So for me so far Earfun is my favorite bluetooth earbud brand. There is no brand that I would simply buy any product from based on brand alone.

It's good to sometimes think about your biases, I think. I think defending a company or having public spats over brands is quite ludicrous. Companies just aren't your friends, so in my opinion there's no point defending them when your relationship with them is purely transactional. I do have my biases but some of my go-to companies have made some terrible products like Moondrop, Hifiman and Sennheiser not to mention all the gaming gear I have from brands like Razer and Logitech. I think it's good consider brands on a product-by-product basis and make a purchase decision based on research you've made, no company automatically makes a good product.
It's good to actually take a look at what makes the specific product good regardless of what the brand is. For example, I generally like the products Logitech makes but they have fallen so behind with how rapidly the mechanical keyboard market evolves there's actually no reason for me to get one. This is especially important for markets that have constantly evolving standards like IEM market, an unknown brand doesn't necessarily mean that it's a bad buy and vice versa. Brand loyalty is understandable to a point but it quickly becomes toxic which is weird to me. It's just a waste of energy imo.

Commenting before I watch the video, but I might just go with JLab again. My JLab wireless earbuds that I got from 5 years ago for about 50 dollars, are still going strong to this day, just with ear tip changes. The battery life is still more than enough for what I need and I don't need to top up the case very often still.
I thought people said the batteries in wireless earbuds degrade really quickly, like within 2 or 3 years, yet idk I don't baby mine at all and they are still holding up great. I just hate the button on them, doesn't work whatsoever. My next earbud HAS to have touch controls, or maybe physical buttons that aren't mushy.
