Hi Curt, i just came across yoūr video of how you built a drafting table. I’m a draftsman by trade, I spent 40+ years drawing either Manual or in CAD. But I am rettred now. But I still like to draw, but cad programs prices are way to high to purchase a good program. S9 I have been looking for a simple .solution. I started privimg small desk top boards. But for the prices were not worth for what you get. Then I came across you board on youtube, I have one word AMAZING, this is exactly looking. Thank you for sharing. Tom
Very nice table you made there! A lot sturdier than my Rotring that was kinda pricy for what it is. Let me suggest you put thick bristol paper under the paper you draw on, to protect the surface, that is what the pros did way back in the day.
Awesome! Just what I needed. I did make my own drawing pad from scratch. I made it to cover my Wacom Intuos4 drawing tablet when I'm not using it. Your finished board looks better. It has a Industrial-factory finish. Love the look! ...Def. will purchase the build plans :)
Cool design pards. Hobby Lobby does 50% off sewology cutting mats every couple of weeks. They make for excellent drawing surfaces and are self healing for those pesky compass points.
Liked the drafting board, however I don't like the bolts in the drawing area. I'm planning to build one and this table gives me a lot of ideas. Thank you!
I have been looking for a plan for a while and yours matches my thoughts. I am trying to figure out a simple but effective way to use two rulers attached so they can turn 360deg. Have you tried this option? Any suggestions?
Very nice!! Where would one find .625 inch aluminum square tube? The big box stores around here don’t carry this....I’m a woodworker; I don’t have scrap metal laying around.
Hmmm, odd I purchased mine from Home Depot. Online metals would probably have it but you could simply use 1/2" and make the moving side block an 1/8" wider. Thanks for the kind words!
If $3 is a bit much to part with let me know, I'll happily send you a free set of plans if it's what's stopping you from making something you like :-).

Cool finished product! But can you make a video or just tell me how you made the bar..the straightedge... show The Underneath side of it?
Thanks, it's just a section of aluminum square tube bolted to the handle shaped part.

Brilliant. Many thanks.
The thought that a home center can cut something square is laughable.
Haha, agreed! Straight might be the better word.
Doesn't matter, you orient the paper to the square and all lines will be parallel.
I dont know, mine are running the powermatic panel saws...
Nice drafting table
Build one for me.
How much will you charge me?

Rick Waldrip Sr. , Yes, I do believe Home Depot does sell the .625 inch square aluminum. They have a raw metals rack near the bolts & screws aisle.
Smart! I like it!
Fantastic!

Did you use special bolts being that it's mdf?
