Which Broadway song do YOU find the most annoyingly catchy? Let us know in the comments!
This is my list

2. I Hope I Get It A Chorus Line
3 My New Philosophy You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown
4. Cell Block Tango Chicago
5.Tomorrow Annie
6. It Sucks To Be Me Avenue Q

8. Surrey With The Fringe On The Top Oklahoma
9. Shipoopi The Music Mam
10. Morning Person Shrek The Musical
Carnival del barrio- In the heights
Its a Hard Knock Life
Does anyone else think of Rugrats during Cell Block Tango when they get to Lipschitz or is that just me?
My favorite has to be “Forget About the Boy” from Thoroughly Modern Millie
I went to grade school with annaleigh Ashford, Margo in legally blonde. I got to be in choir and musicals with her. She's truly a talent, and a great person
I missed her in that but I did enjoy her performance as Columbia in that Rocky Horror tv performance
She also played Glinda i Wicked
Dude, that’s awesome!
10. "My New Philosophy", Good Man Charlie Brown
9. "Turkey Lurkey Time", Promises, Promises
8. "I Hope I Get It", Chorus Line
7. "It Sucks To Be Me", Avenue Q
6. "La Vié Bohéme", Rent

4. "Shipoopy", Music Man
3. "You Can't Stop the Beat", Hairspray
2. "Tomorrow", Annie
1. "Oh My God, You Guys!", Legally Blonde: The Musical
You're welcome.
Thanks! I know far more annoying songs that are not on this list 😵💫
"Master of the House", Les Miserablés
Without debate, Les Miserablés is a production globally regarded for its brilliant array of original songs.
With so many lovely songs to choose from, why is it that most often people find themselves with "Master of the House" stuck in their head? It's a song that works well to showcase the heinous and vile Thenardiérs, but it's far from being the best song in the show!
My God, they even did a whole Seinfeld episode where George couldn't get this song out of his head after seeing the show on Broadway! He found himself humming it throughout the entire episode until it became an issue to him!
The Little Shop of Horrors opening is definitely a song I be singing on repeat for weeks...
For me it was "Down On Skid Row"
@@jimbear62 OMG I KNOW THAT SONG BY HEART definitely
SAMEE
Can’t believe hey missed “Master of the House” fro Les Miz. George Costanza famously got it in his head in an episode of Seinfeld.
And did you know that Jason Alexander also has a lot of musical theater experience? He’s a really good singer!
@@PositivekittenHe was the voice of Hugo in the Hunchback of Notre Dame. It was awesome
@@vanessastegall I know, I love that movie!
"Oh, What a Beautiful Morning" is so insanely catchy, as is "Surrey with a Fringe on Top."
Yes!
Rodgers ans Hammerstein did have a knack.....
or Kansas City, from Oklahoma! as well
I would have added...
"A Person Could Develop A Cold" from Guys and Dolls, "You and Me" from Victor Victoria, "Room Where it Happens" from Hamilton, "Major General" from Pirates of Penzance, and the entire book of Gypsy.
Just listing them here will have them living in my brain for days, so you're welcome.
I've definitely had "La Vie Boheme" on repeat before, but I would have argued for "Take Me or Leave Me" from that show.
Honorable Mentions: "You'll Be Back" and "The Room Where It Happens" from Hamilton. I couldn't just go with one. Both are the catchiest songs in the musical. There's probably more, but those are the 2 at the top of my head I could think of.
"Ease On Down the Road" from The Wiz. Perfect song to dance and sing to when you're going hiking.
"Amazing Mayzie" from Seussical. Definitely a great showgirl-style number for a literal showgirl or showbird in this case.
"What's Up, Duloc?" from Shrek the Musical. One of the highlights of the musical and Christopher Sieber just slays it and the set and costumes really capture the looks from the original animated film and bring it to the stage. Just like the film, it's like a satire of Disney, mainly their Broadway musicals.
"I'm Getting Married in the Morning" from My Fair Lady. Easily the first song that got stuck in my head after watching the 1964 film and definitely the perfect song to sing with your groomsmen or play just the day before your wedding.
How about Supercalifragalisticexpialidocious?
Once you hear You Can’t Stop The Beat you’ll never forget it.
The opening number from "Be More Chill" definitely qualifies as well. Once you hear it, it's what you're singing for a while.
Right!! I cant stop singing it!
Nooo now it’s stuck in my head because I thought about it 😭
C-c-c-come on! C-c-c-come on! Go! Go!!! 😄😄😄
You mean once you HEERE it.
“ they both reached for the gun” Chicago
“Keep it positive “ legally blonde
All I care about is love from Chicago is also good!! My so played Billy Flynn last year I am partial to all of his songs lol
Moses supposes his toeses were roses, but Moses supposes erroneously. But Moses, he knowses his toeses aren't roses as Moses supposes his toeses to be.
Good ole Singing In The Rain!!!😁😁😁😁😁
"Sincerely, me" from DEH is definitely catchy
Agreed. That was the song that got me into that play
This could be a top 20 list. There’s so many catchy songs left out from beetlejuice, prom, little shop of horrors and so many more
I was deeply surprised that “Let It Go” didn’t make the list.
HE HAD IT COMING HE HAD IT COMING HE ONLY HAD HIMSELF TO BLAME
What about "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" from Mary Poppins?? However, "Tomorrow" from "Annie" is my favorite song. And, I think both "Trouble" and the train song in the beginning of "The Music Man" are just as catchy as "Shipoopi". 😊
“Wait for me” from Hadestown got stuck in my head for about six weeks after seeing it.
If you spend half a day with me you will hear me go through every single song from cats again and again especially Skimbleshanks the railway cat, Mungojerrie and Rumpteazer, Macavity the mystery cat, and The Rum Tum Tugger!!! But from the 1998 film version
I would say "Memory" from Cats should be the number 1 song
Personally, I think Six from Six is an ear worm extraordinaire!
Absolutely!!
The megasix is it for me hahaha if i sin one of the parts i have to sing all of it
I'm flabbergasted at no Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat.
I don't really think anyone is out there trying to promote the philosophy of Shipoopi. The Music Man is set in 1912, so yeah, it was out of touch with reality even in the 1950's and 60's. Honestly anyone who takes offense to the lyrics of this song doesn't understand the context of when it was written. Like it or not, this attitude was the norm back in the early 1900's. No one is saying this was the right way to view women then or now, but the song was capturing a moment in time. I honestly do not see the original lyrics to be problematic unless you are actually promoting them to be a philosophy worth living by today. In the context of a period musical, I don't have an issue with them.
I would say that the entire soundtrack of Rent could quality for annoyingly catchy. My husband lit a production of it for a local theatre a few years ago, and I still get earworms from the various songs so many years later. Actually, TBH, I'm surprised "La Vie Boheme" made this top 10 list over "Seasons of Love".
I'm also shocked nothing from Wicked made it on this list--What is This Feeling, Defying Gravity, As Long as You're Mine, and For Good are all earworms...
I hope I get it and cellblock tango! Reminds me of the good ole days being a dancer trained by a fosse protégé
Annoyingly catchy or not, I think we can agree that the costuming from the film version of Shipoopi is wonderful.
I was a kid when I fell in love with Tomorrow. Loved it ever since
The Lonely Goatherd (but that might just be me)
I love, love, love You Can’t Stop The Beat! You stop me of what I love
For me it's
Defying Gravity from Wicked or
525,600 mins (aka) Seasons of Love from Rent.
Avenue Q. Absolute brilliance in every way. Whether phenomenal or even remotely annoying. Completely ground breaking
well that's because of how great the Internet is
Not turkey lurkey time.. glee nightmare unlocked!
Anyone remember "Shipoopi" being sung on "Family Guy"? That was awesome.
Lol yes. One thing I love about family guy is it’s so full of the most random references
I saw The Music Man onstage shortly before I saw the episode. Does anyone know the redone lyrics, because I don't remember the lyrics the first time I saw it but I'm sure they were used since it was a musical done by ages 11-14.
I thought it was made up for the show ...until I saw a clip from the movie
😆
Yup, I remember
YOU ADDED YOU CAN'T STOP THE BEAT!!! That's like the best song EVER!!! It's NOT annoying
I would argue that no matter how awesome the song, the annoyance factor grows the longer you have it stuck in your head.
@@felisd your loss
Raise your hand if the Glee mashup of Turkey Lurkey time and Let's Have a Kiki is now stuck in your head 🙋🏼♀️
Hasa Diga Eebowi from THE BOOK OF MORMON is very catchy, but I’m also ashamed about it, mostly because of what it translates to
PERFECT number one selection!! my school is doing that musical as the school musical this year and i've listened to that song SO MANY TIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s all for the best Godspell
Too Darn Hot from Kiss Me Kate is so so catchy, kinda bummed it didn’t make the list but there were a lot of good picks 😅
My Shot- Hamilton
96,000- In the heights
Run and tell that is what I would have chosen for Hairspray
Master of the house from Les Mis
There are too many more for me to list them all.
Ok but “Opening Up” from Waitress should be an honorable mention at the very least. Anyone who’s seen the musical or heard the cast recording or Sara Bareilles’ concept album wouldn’t forget this song even if they initially came to listen to SUTBM.
How is nothing from Bye Bye Birdie on this list, sooo many catchy ones!
Omigod you guys has been stuck in my head for the past year
10: "My New Philosophy" - You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown
9: "Turkey Lurkey Time" - Promises, Promises
8: "I Hope I Get It" - A Chorus Line
7: "It Sucks To Be Me" - Avenue Q
6: "La Vie Bohème" - Rent
5: "Cell Block Tango" - Chicago
4: "Shipoopi" - The Music Man
3: "You Can't Stop The Beat" - Hairspray
2: "Tomorrow" - Annie
1: "Omigod You Guys" - Legally Blonde
"There is nothing like a dame" - I can't wash that tune right outa my hair!
As a former Annie, I appreciate the fact that you put Tomorrow in the top 3!
My wonderful cousin, character actor Peggy Mondo at 9:14 with Buddy Hackett. She created the role of Ethel Toffelmeir on Broadway and took it to the silver screen.
When I first heard it , I honestly didn't know that "Shipoopi" was a real song , I thought it was made up for a Family Guy episode
"Guys and Dolls" from the musical of the same name. "I Got the Horse Right Here" from the same show, close second.
I got to sing My New Philosophy in a variety show. We changed some of the dialog to fit the show, and it was a hit!
Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat.
Love Your Neighbor, from The Prom - catchy as hell, but I wouldn't call it annoying!
What no little shop of horrors 🤯🤯🤯
Yes!
They should make a drinking game for this video, lol the rules are simple: you take a shot every time you spot Sutton Foster 🤣
My community theater is doing Avenue Q next year and I'm over here thinking it's like Sesame Street and I'm hearing a puppet cuss that's going to be a fun audition🤣
"Practically Perfect" from Mary Poppins is quite catchy or "my favorite things".
You’ll be back and all of King George the third’s songs are missing.
I read an article about the making of Hairspray where one of the dancers talked about how they got really tired of the song since, during the filming of that segment was 12 hours a day for 10 days with that song basically going nonstop.
I just finished a production of the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and I got “Magic Foot” stuck in my head
Haus of Holbein definitely deserved a spot
Annoying,???. These songs are nessary for a raging time. May they reign. 😛😛😛❤️❤️❤️😛😛😛😃😃😃😃😃😃
From Hamilton you’ll be back next song please get in my head and takes forever for it to leave
What about "The Room Where It Happens"? That's another ear worm of a song.
I like how they visibly censored Kate's mouth as if we could read a puppet's lips.
A Winters Ball from Hamilton is on repeat in my head rn
@5:23 and to think diehard Kevin Spacey fans refused to believe me when I said Anthony rap was a Broadway legend. The cult of celebrity truly is alive and well.
I've been watching Heathers the Musical the past few weeks and I keep getting the songs suck in my head. Any of them would get suck but Dead Girl Walking, Candy Store, Freeze Your Brain, and Beautiful.
A lot of these I wouldn’t call annoying. Catchy, yes. But not annoying.
Anything from wicked but I don’t consider it annoying so 💚💗
I've never heard "My New Philosophy" before.
Tonight from West Side Story
Popular.
The opening song in, "Into the Woods", never stopped. Everybody has gone into the woods, I get that, but we're told that for what?... like 15 minutes?!
My school did a production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and can confirm that the girl that played Sally HATED My New Philosophy
I actually saw legally blonde on Broadway and it was so amazing.
The Internet is for P**n from AVENUE Q is annoyingly catchy to me
All catchy tunes for sure! Think i would have added 'Raise you up* from Kinky Boots in there somewhere
Am I the only person who’s always hated Turkey Lurkey Time?
Wonder if any of these count:
.Bikini Bottom Day from Spongebob the Musical
.Friend Like Me from Aladdin the Musical
.It's Time to Dance from The Prom
.What'd I Miss from Hamilton
.Popular from Wicked
Omigod You Guys is my favorite Broadway song!!😊💖
Good Man once came to my school, but the guy playing Chuck was sick, so they cut scenes without him.
My teacher at the time (who actually has a tattoo of me, no I'm not joking, ask me about it if you want), is a huge Peanuts fan (like myself) and she was absent that day, she asked me how it was and I said it was so, SOOO bad because Charlie Brown wasn't there. What made it worse was that the actors had a Q and A after the show, so everybody was asking where Charlie Brown was.
I’m waiting for “Fight for me” from heathers in one video, I’m In love with it. Sure some may say that “why can’t she fight for herself” but I stand strong with my opinion that this song is gold and I love it. Also Annie is the best musical change my mind my mind cannot be changed I love it so much, god I wanna play Annie on broadway
TBH, I think "Everyone’s a Little Bit Racist" in Avenue Q is far more catchy, if only because of the topic...
Straight up Broadway:
"Alexander Hamilton", "My Shot", "Ten Duel Commandments" "It's Quiet Uptown" Hamilton.
"Road to Hell", "Wait for Me", "We Raise Our Cups" Hadestown.
"Don't Cry for Me Argentina" Evita.
"Look Down", "Castle on a Cloud", "Master of the House" Les Mis.
""The Phantom of the Opera", "Music of the Night" Phantom of the Opera.
"The Sound of Music", "My Favorite Things", "Do-Re-Mi", "Edelweiss" Sound of Music.
"I Whistle a Happy Tune" King and I
"A Hundred Million Miracles" Flower Drum Song
"Maria", "I Feel Pretty" West Side Story
That's not even touching on Jukebox musicals like Mamma Mia!, Beautiful, Movin' Out, and Moulin Rouge!...
4:52 There's a few musicals I haven't seen on this list. As for Avenue Q, I can't stand the idea of that show. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but Avenue Q has a few characters that are very similar to Muppets on Sesame Street. Not a good similarity. By the way, my favorite songs to sing are from Mary Poppins.
I love You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown
I’m still bummed I missed out on Avenue Q Broadway show when it used to be on/toured around
Absolutely LOVE La Vie Boheme, Cell Block Tango, and You Can't Stop The Beat and is most definitely NOT annoying!!!
I do agree with Tomorrow though. I do like the song though.
I honestly don’t find it annoying but I love La Vie Boheme. Broadway stage or the musical movie I love
I can do this all day ... ROGERS, The Musical ... :)
Where is Who’s Got The Pain? From Damn Yankees! Any song that has an “urp” is gonna be an earworm
No WICKED
Cmon Defying Gravity is always stuck in my head.
Anything from hello dolly or how to succeed or mamma Mia
Oh the accuracy of this!!!
#1 triggered me. One of the worst show experiences I've ever had. It's not allowed to be sung around me anymore! 😰😖😵💫
Why tho? What was so bad about it? And to which show have you been, the newer West end one, or a different show? :> I recently discovered the Musical and really enjoyed the MTV Version, so yeah
@@kathdra1552 it's because I performed in the show as one of the sorority girls. The show was a nightmare with so much drama behind the scenes. Rehearsals were exhausting mostly due to backstage drama.
Telephone Hour from Bye Bye Birdie should have gotten a mention
I think Bye Bye Birdie also. I find her voice annoying, but it's so d*mn catchy.
Not innocent but hot. I saw Chicago on my birthday at New York so, I like it
I think Everyone's a Little Bit Racist is more catchy from Avenue Q. We did a dance to Chorus Line in my jazz company, which was very fun, but I can confirm it's still stuck in my head 24 years later.
