There is a recent interview with her in dutch, where you meet a lovable young girl who has struggled since her childhood to stay alive with pumps and tubes. And on stage she is a Grand Little Lady with talent, performance and class. That's why so many millions love her. Me too.
Inna, You are so right. So many recording artist have recorded and sung this incredible song "Hallelujah" and Emma Kok 's performance was right up there with the best of them. At 15 years old she was incredible.
Dear Inna, I love Emma and her way of singing, also because she is - like me - Dutch, but having seen your reactions on Voila and Halleluja I look at them again and again for your lovely way of reacting. Like you!
Emma Kok- On 11 March 2022, she released her first single, "Laat Mij Een Vlinder Zijn". The following year, she released her second single "Strijder" on 16 June 2023. Both songs were composed and produced by Tjeerd Oosterhuis, Emma Kok co-wrote the lyrics of Strijder.
Emma joins Andre Rieu's world tour starting tonight in Amsterdam, 5/1/24. Approximately 80 concerts and 1 million public, from what I see most of the tickets are already selling out. I have a ticket for Maastricht, 12/7/24. Living in the UK, just have to travel 1,000 kilometers to attend, but somethings are worth going that extra mile !!
Your comments are so good, and so helpful, and to respond to your question, and expand on the information about Emma, she's done two songs that are her own, the first her first single, LAAT MIJ EEN VLINDER ZIJN , let me be a butterfly , Emma has had more to deal with in her 15 years than most of us have to deal with in a lifetime, and the effect on her has been massive, it's made her the person she is now, the depth and maturity is incredible, and her first song very much reflects the pain and hurt she's had to deal with for all of her 15 years. ruclips.net/video/gYu86yIM8i4/видео.html You need to see the translation on screen (it's in this video) to understand the deep emotion, it's every bit as emotional as Voila, especially as she sings the section, 2:04 to 2:30, 'if only for a day, or even for a count of ten, I'd just like to live as another', and you will then see a gentle shake of her head, the pain in her eyes, the recognition of the awful daily grinding pain and reality of her situation, and then her head goes down to silence for a moment. Then she rises, physically and in the song she soars to an even greater height, as much as to say, 'This is NOT going to beat me, or define me, I WILL rise above it', an incredibly emotional moment, it was written just for her, an incredibly deep expression of her dream. That first night at the Vrijthof in July, Voila, the video you've reviewed, it's now gone beyond viral, (33 million views and counting still ) Emma changed, mentally, her dream came true that night, it happened for her, in the words of another song she's sung, 'Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this', and while she physically walked out on to that stage, mentally, she was the beautiful butterfly emerging from the long period of painful change, the chrysalis emerged from the cocoon and she soared high and free over the stage. Emma mentally went up with it, and absolutely dominated that stage, the orchestra and the audience, and it's hard to realise that this was the first time she had performed the new version live, in front of an audience of 12,500 people, she was truly inspired, she didn't just perform the song, she LIVED it, she poured her whole heart, soul and emotions into it, she was so powerful yet vulnerable on that stage, the result was she reached into the very depth of so many of the people there, and that was partly why the cameras were going to the audience so much. Andre had worked his showmans magic, they massively changed the song itself, they slowed it down, changed the tempo, added the key change and repeat of the third verse, and that gave Emma the time and space she needed to truly LIVE the song on the stage, and even more important, with things like that beautiful black dress, which made her feel "strong and powerful', Emma was no longer a comptent capable girl singer, the new Emma emerged and soared, she came out on to that stage visibly and emotionally a beautiful, strong, powerful, serene, composed, competent, driven and dedicated young woman, her star rose, and shone bright in the sky. Personally, with the horrific trauma Emma has had to live with for so long, she needed that gentle help from Andre to make that difficult transition from the good girl singer trying to find her direction and future into the incredible young woman that she is now, and this last 6 months has proved it, her recent work is a lot more powerful and confident than the work she'd been doing before, and that's not just Voila I'm talking about. That said, and it's a beautiful moment, as she finished Voila, and punched the air in triumph, the smile on her face said it all, she knew she'd nailed it, but just for a moment, the 15 year old girl emerged, she turned to her mentor, Andre and threw her arms wide, and the look on her face said so clearly 'How was that?' Andre's eyes, his embrace, the one word, 'Fantastic', the 1 minute standing ovation from the orchestra and the audience, the call back to take more of the ovation by Andre, all of that served to confirm that her star truly had risen that evening, and she's proved it in recent weeks, she very much is a rising star, she has become a singer, with what is looking and sounding like an incredible future. 12 months touring the world with Andre, every concert sold out and extra concerts added to a number of Venues, she will be a significant part of his tour, and with her skills, and his gentle pressure to excel, it will be a year she will never forget. The only reason that Andre and the orchestra were not shedding tears at the power of that Voila performance was because they'd shed lots of them during rehearsals, and had steeled themselves to control those emotions during the performances, he admitted it freely when interviewed by Dutch TV during July. At the Formula 1 event, when gently pushed about Emma on several occasions, he's said he feels in some respects like a second father to her, and there is a beautiful end of season gathering where he makes a presentation to her, on RUclips, ruclips.net/video/ejmM0Wikmq4/видео.html it's not great quality and only in Dutch, but there is an explanation of it in the comments, there is a lot of emotion being shown, including from Andre, and his clear opinion from another TV interview of her is that she has 'exceptional talent', which from someone with his credentials is high praise indeed, he's not only had her performing on his 5 Christmas shows, she's guest starring in his all of his 2024 world tour. In 15 years, we've seen a number of young talented performers at Maastricht, but I can never remember a guest then going on to be a significant part of his touring so quickly, she clearly has very much impressed not just Andre but the rest of the team that plans and produces his show schedules. Emma's Dad, sister and brother were in the audience for that first Voila presentation, the cameras go to them regularly, and Mum was backstage to help with the feeding tubes after she'd been on stage. They are an incredible family, Enzo is a very talented violinist, and Sophie is also a competent singer, there is a video of a duet with Emma on RUclips. Starry Starry Night ruclips.net/video/Sbs6iPRFQq8/видео.html Emma is very different now to how she was at the start of 2023, and she's now able to perform freely in ways that are new, vibrant and absolutely top flight, she has the confidence and the security to know she can do it, and things like this performance of Hallelujah for Dutch TV, her appearance over Christmas with Helene Fischer, on peak time German TV, singing a duet of Voila with Helene, it's gone over 1.5 million views in just 3 days, ruclips.net/video/Pb8qmpcOByc/видео.html her sublime performance with Andre at the Christmas concert of 'White Christmas', also now over a million views ruclips.net/video/ZZEyhG2bEeM/видео.html This is the short version, there is a lower quality longer version, the standout for me is that in 15 years watching Andre, I can't remember him letting a guest come on stage with no prompt note or introduction and launch straight into a verse a capella, she does it beautifully, and then like he did with Voila, he builds it all the way with the orchestra, then the sopranos then the tenors, and at the end, Emma on her own winds it up so beautifully. There's also a short version of the other song she did with the full orchestra 'All I want for Christmas is you', and she absolutely stands out in this one, even with the power of the other singers in the mix, ruclips.net/video/xCBOVw7PErU/видео.html If you want an example of how well she can absolutely belt out some of Hallelujah, the Max TV version wasn't well balanced, her microphone wasn't well balanced, so when she did go powerful, it wasn't as evident as it should have been, around the same time, she did a recording for a local TV channel, L1 in Maastricht, Emma, one microphone, a piano and player, no fancy dresses or anything like that, ruclips.net/video/CS4ZCwjpkbw/видео.html Her other original song, Strijder, Warrior, this one has Dutch and English subtitles, a huge help, also very much themed about the struggles and trauma she's had to live with from birth ruclips.net/video/DUgFUwem_t4/видео.html A powerful cover she did of a Miley Cyrus song, recorded at home, for a special event, tube feeding week, a subject very close to her heart, , the climb, ruclips.net/video/dOhzlDEuCBg/видео.html A powerful Disney cover. again the theme being about change that's not a normal change, Part of Your World, a Halle Berry cover from The Little Mermaid, again, watch her eyes, and the emotions, so powerful, as is her singing. ruclips.net/video/itxs-aNyRJY/видео.html I will close with a heartfelt plea to all the readers of this page. Please, if you can, join me in making a (regular) donation to Emma's foundation, gastrostars.nl They are a possible source of treatment or even a cure for people like Emma, it would be a tragedy if Emma had to stop singing because her gastroparesis had become worse, and her foundation may be the way that new treatments or a cure can be found, one of the key members of the team is a surgeon who worked at the Maastricht hospital, she also has gastroparesis herself, and she has been forced to give up her work at the hospital because of a deterioration of her health, so her focus now is the foundation, and with her knowledge, her input will be vital. It would be so good to hear that they have made some breakthrough that will enable Emma to be more able to do what she is so good at, it would mean that her other dream could also become reality, with all she's been through in her short life, it would be so good for her to be free of having to spend 22 hours a day connected to the pumps that are so essential for her survival. For Emma to be able to live free of them would truly be the dream come true.
@wilburfinnigan2142 I think Lucy's version is a bit boring in the end. Nothing to do with her vocals, she sings fantastic, but with the arrangement in total. Emma smooth ending touches you like only Emma can do.
Oh what a beautiful wonderful voice like an angel, her song goes deep into the soul and makes tears flow, her song is not just a song but a state of mind.
She has 2 original songs. 14 years old Laat Mij Een Vlinder Zijn (Let Me Be A Butterfly ) ruclips.net/video/Zcxan9R5s4E/видео.html 15 years old Strijder (Warrior) ruclips.net/video/rL0GLdnWEKk/видео.html
Thank you for your very nice review. Emma always manage to touch your heart❤️. She has two original songs. Search for "Strijder" and "Vlinder". Kind of recorded not specific for adults I guess. To appreciate those two songs you have to understand the lirics in connection to her medical circumstances (Her stomach is paralyzed).
Your reaction to Emma mirrors that of many of us, Inna, I enjoy watching you melt like the rest of us do. Yes, Emma can be ever so delicate with that voice and then come on like a freight train of power. with it Just an incredible talent and yes, at such a young age. She comes out looking like a Princess and sounding like an angel. We're the beneficiaries of this talent and to think of the number of years we have to see/hear her is exciting. Have you seen her in her brother Enzo's violin performance? I swear you can see in that little girl's eyes these magnificent performances we've seen from her coming. Completely captivated and engrossed. Here it is if you haven't seen it, look at those eyes. ruclips.net/video/BJpLVIC2Bwo/видео.html
She is amazing. Thank you for your reaction on Hallelujah. Emma has til now two songs of her own> The links are: ruclips.net/video/gYu86yIM8i4/видео.html Laat mij een vlinder zijn (subs English ) ruclips.net/video/DUgFUwem_t4/видео.html Strijder (subs English) Both songs are certainly worth to discover . Both songs reflects her struggle and her feelings, but with a strong positive impact.
🌏🥹❤️🤗❄️🎶🎼.Beautiful rendition of Emma, Hallelujah is one of the most beautiful and moving songs, composed by Leonard Cohen and made popular by Jeff Buckley, the song is a poem based on biblical stories, ancient tales, beliefs, faith and existential insecurities and concerns. Cohen used Jewish symbolism to express the glory and sorrow of love. There is also the version of the American-Canadian singer. Rufus Wainwright who sang it for the Shrek movie.
You know at certain age your voice changes I think it has.I really like this song because it was in English even with sub title I can't read fast 😊. Thank you Inna have a great day.
Leonard Cohen wrote this. He had such a beautiful soul, and was the coolest cat who ever lived. A voice far more beautiful than it sounded. Worth looking in to.
She doesn’t need to write why would she do that Emma when she’s ready then yes by the way she about to embark on a world tour with Andre Rui and lucky me I have tickets for the sell out concert in Kracow June 1st and she is the ultimate reason I’m going 🇬🇧
She is so talented. Her career is going to be great. Maybe you like to check Emma Kok singing “A Moment Like This”. This video is from her being on Holland’s Voice Kids when Emma was twelve. You can where she started from.
Emma is fantastic. I am proud to be dutch. And yes, i THINK this is a original song: ruclips.net/video/Zcxan9R5s4E/видео.html It is dutch, and she sings that she want to be a butterfly... Also a great performance... I translate the lyrics in english: [Verse 1] If I could change a day It would be so nice To be like so many others Not to be afraid, but to be free [Pre-Chorus] If I could do anything for a moment Then I'd quickly crawl out of my cocoon Flew through the clouds to the sun [Chorus] Being able to move freely for a moment To live without fear and worry Let me be a butterfly Let me be a butterfly Never having to wear a mask With my wings spread Let me be a butterfly Let me be a butterfly [Verse 2] I thought I was losing But I stood up and conquered And found out by fighting How much I still could But sometimes there are moments When I desperately want more than I can And I always dream of [Chorus] Just being able to move freely Living without fear and worry Let me be a butterfly Let me be a butterfly Never having to wear a mask With my wings spread Let me be a butterfly Let me be a butterfly [Bridge] Na-na, na-na-na-na-na-na Na-na, na-na-na-na-na-na Na-na, na-na-na-na-na-na-na If only just today Or even just for a beat or ten I'll just love to See the world as another Let me be a butterfly Let me be a butterfly [Chorus] To be able to move freely for a moment Living without fear and worry Let me be a butterfly Let me be a butterfly Never having to wear a mask With my wings spread Let me be a butterfly
Andre Rieu's enthusiastic endorsement of Emma propelled her onto the world stage with millions of views in a very short time. Emma's fans have surely said all that we can say. She astounded us in 2023 and will delight millions more this year.
Inna i love your reaction to Emma she is a wonderful young soul who will no doubt reach the very pinnacle of her dreams, but please please find time to react to Lucy Thomas either solo or with her sister Martha you won't be disappointed believe me but if not keep up the fine reaction videos that you post.
Maybe consider checking out more of her performances, earlier ones included. She has two original songs at this point, and has performed several covers. The sound-quality isn't always as amazing (because they may be covers recorded on phones or by her in her room), but they show more of her capabilities. A first recommendation would be her cover of "Father" from Demi Lovato: ruclips.net/video/y554GsqMHj8/видео.html
Amazing voice. I would like to make a suggestion for you to listen to "Ave Maria" done by Celtic Woman. Chloe Agnew has such a powerful voice also. I really think you would enjoy it.
If you want to see some of the most impressive singing please watch LUCY & MARTHA THOMAS - O Holy Night then The Prayer and Mary Did You Know then Lucy Thomas sing I Will Always Love You, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas also HALLELUJAH , Evergreen and then At Last and La Vie En Rose you will not regret it Enjoy!.
Love her voice, love the strings, love the song...BUT...there are times later in the piece that strings, to me, are abit strong and tend to drown out Emma's beautiful voice. Or maybe my hearing is failing
U suck with last words. She is fifteen. And crushes any cover of any song. That is pleasing. She absolutely kills it. And any critics are totally jealous. Learn when beaten
You will be delighted! New Year's duet Diana Ankudinova and Brandon Stone in the song The Day You... A perfect fusion of voices, a very beautiful song, amazing vocals.

perhaps the best version of Halleluja I've heard. The most emotional with the tone of her voice. thank you very much for the nice reaction⭐
She has a beautiful voice but I doubt I will ever see a more haunting version than Jeff Buckley's.
@@bamachine Yes, Jeff's version is excellent, as is Lucy Thomas'. It's always a matter of musical preference.

Strijder (subs English)
Both songs are certainly worth to discover .
Strijder is an original song of Emma ,it’s in Dutch 😊
And it is fantastic!
You know at certain age your voice changes I think it has.I really like this song because it was in English even with sub title I can't read fast 😊.
Thank you Inna have a great day.
Another great cover of this is by Pentatonics. You may enjoy it too. She has a gorgeous voice . First time hearing her.
Leonard Cohen wrote this. He had such a beautiful soul, and was the coolest cat who ever lived. A voice far more beautiful than it sounded. Worth looking in to.
Great, more plz!
She doesn’t need to write why would she do that Emma when she’s ready then yes by the way she about to embark on a world tour with Andre Rui and lucky me I have tickets for the sell out concert in Kracow June 1st and she is the ultimate reason I’m going 🇬🇧
You are lucky indeed
👏👏👏👏👏👏💝💝💝
She is so talented. Her career is going to be great. Maybe you like to check Emma Kok singing “A Moment Like This”. This video is from her being on Holland’s Voice Kids when Emma was twelve. You can where she started from.
Wonderful voice. Don't care much for the song really, but she sings it so beautifully.
Emma is fantastic. I am proud to be dutch. And yes, i THINK this is a original song: ruclips.net/video/Zcxan9R5s4E/видео.html
It is dutch, and she sings that she want to be a butterfly... Also a great performance...
I translate the lyrics in english:
[Verse 1]
If I could change a day
It would be so nice
To be like so many others
Not to be afraid, but to be free
[Pre-Chorus]
If I could do anything for a moment
Then I'd quickly crawl out of my cocoon
Flew through the clouds to the sun
[Chorus]
Being able to move freely for a moment
To live without fear and worry
Let me be a butterfly
Let me be a butterfly
Never having to wear a mask
With my wings spread
Let me be a butterfly
Let me be a butterfly
[Verse 2]
I thought I was losing
But I stood up and conquered
And found out by fighting
How much I still could
But sometimes there are moments
When I desperately want more than I can
And I always dream of
[Chorus]
Just being able to move freely
Living without fear and worry
Let me be a butterfly
Let me be a butterfly
Never having to wear a mask
With my wings spread
Let me be a butterfly
Let me be a butterfly
[Bridge]
Na-na, na-na-na-na-na-na
Na-na, na-na-na-na-na-na
Na-na, na-na-na-na-na-na-na
If only just today
Or even just for a beat or ten
I'll just love to
See the world as another
Let me be a butterfly
Let me be a butterfly
[Chorus]
To be able to move freely for a moment
Living without fear and worry
Let me be a butterfly
Let me be a butterfly
Never having to wear a mask
With my wings spread
Let me be a butterfly
Andre Rieu's enthusiastic endorsement of Emma propelled her onto the world stage with millions of views in a very short time. Emma's fans have surely said all that we can say. She astounded us in 2023 and will delight millions more this year.
Strijder is one of hers. The other one is about her as well. This one means Warrior. Both songs are about her feelings.
❤ 🎶 👏 👏 👏
Inna i love your reaction to Emma she is a wonderful young soul who will no doubt reach the very pinnacle of her dreams, but please please find time to react to Lucy Thomas either solo or with her sister Martha you won't be disappointed believe me but if not keep up the fine reaction videos that you post.
punchy Yes without hearing Lucy how can she offer an opinion ???
Maybe consider checking out more of her performances, earlier ones included.
She has two original songs at this point, and has performed several covers. The sound-quality isn't always as amazing (because they may be covers recorded on phones or by her in her room), but they show more of her capabilities.
A first recommendation would be her cover of "Father" from Demi Lovato: ruclips.net/video/y554GsqMHj8/видео.html
She has 2 songs warrior en vlinder en she is amezing hup limburg
Amazing voice. I would like to make a suggestion for you to listen to "Ave Maria" done by Celtic Woman. Chloe Agnew has such a powerful voice also. I really think you would enjoy it.
Two originals. Check her site.
Watch Striyder, she co-wrote this song. She has an official video out and I like it very much.
No es solo una increíble voz, ella definitivamente es un Ángel.
If you want to see some of the most impressive singing please watch LUCY & MARTHA THOMAS - O Holy Night then The Prayer and Mary Did You Know then Lucy Thomas sing I Will Always Love You, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas also HALLELUJAH , Evergreen and then At Last and La Vie En Rose you will not regret it Enjoy!.
heeft een lied strijder
Love her voice, love the strings, love the song...BUT...there are times later in the piece that strings, to me, are abit strong and tend to drown out Emma's beautiful voice. Or maybe my hearing is failing
U suck with last words. She is fifteen. And crushes any cover of any song. That is pleasing. She absolutely kills it. And any critics are totally jealous. Learn when beaten
You will be delighted!
New Year's duet Diana Ankudinova and Brandon Stone in the song The Day You...
A perfect fusion of voices, a very beautiful song, amazing vocals.
The conductor in his light suit is quite destracting.
Try KD Lang at the Vancouver Olympics.
