I'll miss this fun baking segment when the 7 days are up! I've enjoyed "discovering" your channel this year! You and your husband have taught your children so many valuable life lessons...and now your older girls are helping you teach these lessons to your RUclips community!
My Mom made these every holiday and she’d make them ahead and freeze them….she filled with apricot ( my favorite) prune and poppy seed…. What a nice tradition the two of you baking together…..no one in my family wants to bake… I use to go to my mother in laws and bake all kinds of cookies for Christmas…..her cutout butter cookies were delicious….sniff, good memories …😍
I come from a family that is 100% Polish. These were always on our table at Christmas. My grandparents were from Poland. Im sure many different ethnicitys also enjoyed them as well. I'm sure thay were very popular everywhere. But I've only enjoyed them at Christmas in a polish home. Apricot preserves work great in them as well.
My Mom use to make them when I was growing up!! I learned alot from her on baking. It's nice seeing your daughter's helping and learning from you.Very Delicious cookies!! ❤
I have never had these, but they look delicious. This is definitely a recipe that I will try. I love watching the girls cooking, baking, and preserving, it fills my heart with so much joy.
Oh my goodness, these look delicious. I think Julianne really likes baking. I wish I were more patient to be a good baker .. You both are so talented..thank you
I love making cookies with sour cream & cream cheese also. My gma made something similar to this, but we do a chopped walnut on the top in a sour cream walnut brown sugar glaze it is a cookie also. This is the cookie that made my hubby fall in love with me 😂 I am so excited to see this, that you guys make this❤❤
Those look amazing and sound delicious! 😋 I have actually had them before and love them. Your dough recipe is very similar to my kolacke recipe. I use butter, cream cheese and sour cream in my dough and only a tablespoon of powder sugar in the dough for a tender but not too sweet dough. I’ll share a tip that I recently learned about using jam as a cookie filling. If you mix in 1 teaspoon of corn starch per 1/2 cup of your favorite jam before filling your cookies, the jam will thicken as the cookies bake and it will not leak out on the cookie sheet. You could add the corn starch to the smashed up pie filling to help keep it from leaking out during baking.
Those look so delicious, i want to try these. All your recipes this week have been awesome, your making me want to get back into baking. Thank you for sharing your recipes and your family with us.
I just made these today after watching your video! Oh my goodness; this is our new family holiday recipe. Thank you so much for sharing. 🥰 you all are the best.
Hi ladies I just put my dough in the fridge to chill. I don’t have a pastry cutter so I used my Pampered Chef crinkle cutter and I think this is a game changer. No butter sticking in between the wire slats and it crumbled up the butter in seconds. Can hardly wait to bake up these cookies. Love your channel. Merry Christmas from Texas 🎄
Thank you ladies for sharing your wonderful family recipes!! This will be another one to try and added to my little book of y’all’s recipes!! Many thanks 🇨🇦🕊
This cookie was originated in the Jewish communities of Poland. I like to use fruit preserves along with sugar, walnuts, & cinnamon. I like to roll into a log and then slice pinwheel style. It is less messy.
Absolutely labor of ❤ 😍, I have my Grandmothers 👵 pastry blender, I will never give it up ! does your pastry blender have a story. ? Excellent assistance Annie 👍
These look amazing. I'm definitely going to try this recipe out.. I'm going to try these out with some Nutella chocolate spread and see how it goes. Thank you for the inspiration🤗. Many Blessings 😇
First, you have very talented kids, every one of them. In an age when most kids aren’t able to make themselves something for lunch, your girls are very accomplished bakers 💜. I’m wondering if the dough itself can be frozen, like pie crust, and then cookies completed when dough thaws. Merry Christmas 🎄 to your family
I've never put them in the freezer but I don't see why they wouldn't do well. We make them, let them cool fully, then store them in an air tight container.
I absolutely love your videos and can't wait to make these cookies! Because the filling is so wet when you use the pie filling I know you mentioned that you don't coat the disk with the melted butter but do you still use the egg wash before they go in the oven as well?
They look and sound really yummy! Cream cheese, butter and sour cream ... they simply call my name! Question: How do you store them and how long can you store them for if one wants to make them ahead of time?
They store well. Usually at Christmas I store in a cookie tin using wax paper between layers. Sometimes I freeze them packaged in the tin and ship to my daughter who loves them.
Do they freeze well? Or how long will they be good for? Wondering how long ahead of time I can make them? They look delicious. Will have to try them for sure. I’m thinking salted caramel (with maybe apple) should be good too… hmmm
I've never put them in the freezer actually but I think they would do well. I usually just make them a day or two in advance and then store them in an air tight container:)
I watched this last year and here I am again. Lol. They say that this cookie is one that little Jesus might have had cooked by his mother. Makes it a little more special to me rather true or not.

Rugelach is a Jewish cookie from Poland. The word “rugelach” means “little twists” in Yiddish. They have been a favorite of ours for generations.
This looks so good 😊

You can actually use a mixer or food processor to make the dough. This is the first time I have actually seem anyone do it with a pastry cutter.
my rolling pin I use was one of 4 my Grandfather made in 1965
How neat❤️❤️❤️
I can almost smell it from here lol. Fun
YES!

Yes. I really like apricot jam as a filling!
I've never heard of these, but they look delicious I may have to try them out ! Thank y'all so much for these recipes.
These cookies are worth the work...one of my favorites!
This cookie was originated in the Jewish communities of Poland. I like to use fruit preserves along with sugar, walnuts, & cinnamon. I like to roll into a log and then slice pinwheel style. It is less messy.
My dough was in the refrigerator as I sat down to watch yours.lol Cranberry-orange and like your cinnamon pecan, but I add raisins too.

Looks amazing as always! 😍❤️😍

Kind of reminds me of childhood when Mom would sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on leftover pie dough and roll it up.
YES...my Grandma would so this too.
Look so delicious! Good job
Thanks for sharing 😀
Of course!
Oh my word! These look so delicious! Y’all have got me wanting to try everything you’ve shared this week! Yum!!!

Ohh! So yummy. This recipe rinds me of nut cookies and pure dough cookies my mom used to make.
Enjoy!
Love your videos, they look so good!!
Thank you, Deb!
Thank you for sharing.
We made them today! So delish!:)
Oh good. Which filling? I also like apricot!
@@anniemcelroy2812 We did the cinnamon nut.I had some apricot and wild bluberry jam so we made some with that in too. They really are so good!

Wow, those look fantastic! You’re making me want to bake something!
♥️🙏👍🇺🇸🤓

I’m wondering if the dough itself can be frozen, like pie crust, and then cookies completed when dough thaws.

I've never tried freezing but I assume it would work!!!!
Yes it freezes well. I have a stash in the freezer which I am probably going to use after watching this video. Half the battle is done.
these look yummy. How do you store them? Do they freeze well? Can you leave them out on the counter - covered? sealed container?
I've never put them in the freezer but I don't see why they wouldn't do well. We make them, let them cool fully, then store them in an air tight container.

Question: How do you store them and how long can you store them for if one wants to make them ahead of time?
Hello, they are a pastry so they don't store very long. We have never tried freezing them but I don't see why that would not work.

Thank you very much for replying so promptly!
Merry Christmas to all of you🎄
They store well. Usually at Christmas I store in a cookie tin using wax paper between layers. Sometimes I freeze them packaged in the tin and ship to my daughter who loves them.
@@cherylcabral4 Awesome! Thank you for your response and how you go about storing them❣
❤️❤️❤️
Can the dough assembly be done in a food processor? I don't have much hand strength anymore.
Could you use a food processor to cut in the butter and other ingredients?
I've never tried but I do believe it would work if you pulse it gently.
Yes without a problem.
We also call them cherry 🍒 horns
❤️❤️❤️
Just a quick question....how long can you chill the dough? Can I make the dough today and make the cookies later this week?
Yes that would work I believe! About 3 days would be the max I would let it chill.
I will have to try it with lemon curd, have you tried it that way?
Usually apricot, strawberry, or raspberry preserves are used.
I watched this last year and here I am again. Lol. They say that this cookie is one that little Jesus might have had cooked by his mother. Makes it a little more special to me rather true or not.
Thanks for sharing your Cookies 🍪 12-11-2021
How do you store them and how long can you make them ahead of your holiday get together?
I store them in an air tight container and I only make them a day or two in advance 🙂
Did you egg wash the cherry tops as well?
No butter on the dough for the cherry filling but yes, egg wash on top of all Rugelach variations.
@@anniemcelroy2812 thank you so much.
Could you use a food process to make the dough, at least the cutting in of the butter?
We have never tried but I would assume it would work fine...by pulsing together gently.
Yes that is usually how I make mine. I have never seen anyone use a pastry cutter. You could also use a stand mixer.
Have you shown a farmhouse tour?
It'd be a short tour...we have a pretty small house:):) ❤️
Homeschooled = Best Schooled

It would break my heart sending them off the school. I love spending time with them.
@@anniemcelroy2812 Absolutely! That was My Mom's Perspective. So much REAL learning time!🐓

Do y'all make Tea Cookies? If so, do you have a recipe? I have tried several recipes to make Tea Cookies with no success.
