Training camp is low key my second favorite arc in the show so far. It’s about growth and development, physically and emotionally. It’s not about winning, per se. lol. First time I watched this, that “niku niku niku” bit had me in tears. No exaggeration. One of the many moments that make this series so wholesome and funny.
Regarding Kageyama Pat, Oikawa didn’t “get in his head” in a negative way. *sigh* Kageyama needs to reflect on whether he is bringing Hinata’s full potential out or not. Oikawa was/is right in this regard and this leads to positive change for the Kage/Hina duo.
I love Tsukki so much, and this mini arc where he has been forcefully adopted by Kuroo, Bokuto, and Akaashi is just the best.
Kuroo is just the coolest academic nerd ever
Oikawa is cocky but he’s a good guy in general. Just like Tsukki, he has his own way of communicating. He doesn’t need to be super friendly to Kageyama because he obviously had a hard time in high school but he still provides good feedback to Kageyama when asked. Plus he always respects Kageyama’s talent.
Nekoma’s captain has his way of helping, his own personality but the impact they both have on Karasuno’s growth is quite similar and the impact is NOT negative. NOBODY’s bad in this show. In a show like Kuruko No Basket for example, you do have characters that are genuinely and willingly bad. They want to hurt other players but this does not exist in Haikyuu. It’s all about team spirit and their love for sports. I hope you get to see Oikawa for who he really is instead of sticking behind typical “protagonist-antagonist” anime stereotypes.
Fukorodani and Nekoma are my favorite teams from the entire series so I just love this arc so much (also Tsukki is my fav from Karasuno so this arc is even better)

the antagonist doesn't exist in this show. the only show where we love all characters.
Practice matches aren't about trying to win. They're about experimenting with new strategies and unfamiliar techniques to see what can work in an official match.
In that sense, it only stands to reason that Karasuno lost more than any other team there, because they were trying out way more stuff than anyone else.
This is simply my favorite ep because of the way Bokuto & Hinata interact. Truly shows how Kuroo & Bokuto take Tsuki & Hinata under their wing to help develop them.
Nekoma and Fukorodani, the instant friendship they had with Karasuno is honestly so precious

The away training camp arc always brings me joy.
The toss Kageyama was practicing actually isn’t easy. It’s not as simple as arching the ball to the bottle. Of course that’s easy. But what he was trying to do, was make the bottle the peak height of the toss as Ukai explained. So whatever bottle he’s aiming for, he’s trying to make sure the ball reaches its peak at that bottle and for the ball to actually stop at that point as you saw when he visualized Shoyo and the ball stopped at the peak so Hinata could hit it however. And it fell straight down onto the bottle. “A toss that stops” as Ukai also explained. None of you guys can do what these guys do “easily” like Rana and the guy with the glasses said. Coming from a D1 Volleyball player, what Kageyama was trying to do was extremely difficult. Not to mention if you guys don’t even have volleyball experience , you probably also can’t even just properly perform a standard toss. Also, you guys do not understand Oikawas character at all. Maybe you’ll understand a bit better later. Oikawa is literally one of the best characters in this series and there’s ALOT of great characters in it. I can’t think of one bad character at all.

Can we PLEASE normalize criticizing and accepting that Kageyama does a LOT wrong? Like holy shit, I'll be the first to admit Hinatas shortcomings but it seems everyone is so scared to admit what Kageyama does wrong. Kageyama has had NUMEROUS outbursts towards Hinata and gets no criticism. Hinata says smth once and u all act so weird about it
Because that is Kageyama's personality and getting over it is part of the arc. Besides nowadays most of Kageyama's outbursts are treated for comic relief even Hinata is known to tease Kageyama..
On the other hand you may be one of the few people who acknowledge that Hinata can do wrong

Ppl don't like Oikawa? How dare you? Kageyama was more of an asshole and you like him. So biased.. NO actually Oikawa is an unapologetic asshole while the reason ppl like Kageyama is because the show does bring up his faults and Kageyama acknowledges and changes. So not the same..
People think Hinata is selfish? Even though his did want to score most n be central Avenue, stole Asahi's ball, decided on his own to change up the toss and made Kageyama toss to Hinata out of his own stubbornness,??
No Hinata is right and Kageyama wants to stop Hinata from growing because Oikawa criticized Kageyama n coach encouraged Hinata.. Yet Kageyama had a point. Something that could have very well happened in the team..
it doesn't mean Kageyama couldn't have done things differently or tried.
Yes it is ok to criticize Kageyama but don't use him as a benchmark to compare or absolve other characters

"You wanna beat someone at their best." THAT IS F*CKING TRUE. Even if you win, but you know your rival wasn't at his peak and best capacity, you wouldn't feel good about your win yourself. You will only feel inferior and frustrated considering that you know it could have been a completely different story (or maybe you would have lost) if both of you were perfectly at peak.
Yea, I actually completely disagree with this. No one looks back and says, oh this win wasn't worth as much because they didn't have their best player. No championship winning team that played a bunch of teams with injured stars and the championship game against a team without their stars, when asked about it years later, says, oh being a champion that season wasn't worth anything because we didn't beat them at their best. This is the difference between people that love to win and people that hate to lose.

If professionals wanted to "win with honour" or some bullshit, no one would take PED's, doctor baseballs, cork bats, steal signals, deflate balls, attempt to injure other players, flop, etc. Professionals are trying to WIN, because that's what they get paid for. What, do you think a boxer stops punching a guy on the side of a cut? Or takes it easy because his opponent broke his hand? No, you attack that weakness, period. Roberto Duran can say he was having stomach cramps in the "no mas" fight all day long, but Sugar Ray doesn't feel worse about the win, and every boxing fan looks down on Duran, not Leonard.
I once saw an archery battle where an archer couldn't shoot because his bow was broken and his rival missed the next shoot on purpose so it would be a fair battle.

NO SURAJ, REBOUND can be called Recycle in North America and if you hit hard to the block, it will slam hard to the ground. You need to hit it lightly for it to bound back and even then it's not guarenteed to happen cuz due to angles and the blockers themselves

How difficult is it to understand that at this point the issue with the quick is purely technicall? No amount of "talk" or "getting along" will change the fact that Kageyama is still struggling with this toss and he needs to get some consistency out of his shots for this to work. Hinata can not help him with this and his time is best spent doing something else then.

My most favorite thing about Oikawa is that all the people he's surrounded by (his nephew/family and his friends i.e. Iwaizumi) always roasts him and he's not immune to it and it brings his character down a few pegs and makes me laugh. My least favorite thing about Oikawa is that a lot of his fans go absolutely feral when people criticize his character, lol.

I've "been in the world of sports" and some of Oikawa's actions aren't great. His personality isn't the best, and at times, he's downright awful to people. Immaturity isn't "not understanding Oikawa's character." Immaturity is believing that no one can have a different opinion about Oikawa than the one where he is god of the universe. I like Oikawa, but the way he is worshiped by some of you, the way you call others who might dislike him "immature," and the way you deny his bullying toward Kageyama just baffles me. He shouldn't be put on a pedestal, but you all think he should for zero legitimate reason.
