@@smashguys9725I dont have much knowledge about it, but its basically just grow a shitload of plants, get rid of the ones with traits you dont want, and pollinate the ones with good traits. After a few generations of plants youll have less and less bad traits, more good traits, and just rinse and repeat til you have what you want.
It takes a long time, but boils down to just controlling which plants get pollinated which isnt very hard, just incredible time consuming.

And finally your awnser, the plant you just grew is a marniers kalanchoe, pretty difficult succulent to grow from a seed. Congrats(/s obviously the seeds are chia, but the plant is a kalanchoe, so two different things) . One of the most colorfully beautiful succulents. I hope you keep it alive.

Reminds me of a few years ago people in america(and I think Canada and Europe) randomly got envelopes with packets containing seeds, and all the respective governments issued warnings not to plant them since they were worried it might be an invasive species(I wanna say it was around the time Corona broke out, and iirc it was a Chinese company that sent them out)
I have no clue if it was ever resolved or "settled" but just recall it as an odd scare that came an went in about a week lol

The seeds were mostly innocuous things like Hibiscus, morning glory, mustard and sage seeds.

Nintendo named it The Pikmin Flower because it resembles the flowers that bloom from the heads of fully matured Pikmin species. So basically it's a Pikmin plant cause they breed the first one so they got to name it.
Not quite. Bacopa cabana is not actually a species, it's a cultivar of the species Bacopa cordata (aka Sutera cordata). It should be written as Bacopa 'cabana' to avoid this confusion. The cultivar was already in existence prior to Pikmin, but it gained attention through this marketing stunt by Nintendo showing interest in the cultivar resembling the Pikmin flower. It's not a new species or subspecies, but basically a breed. So like how you have a Labrador, and a poodle, as breeds from the dog species.

It's called Chaenostoma cordatum or Bacopa. Miyamoto used this flower as inspiration for Pikmin.
Edit: Since I got so many likes I did some research and this plant is similar to other type of Bacopa know as Water Hyssop which is an underwater plant that blooms blue.

For those wondering. They took flowering plants that are naturally native to South Africa within the same genus and bred the traits that they desired into the new one through trial and error crossbreeding, creating a family of them, and once they had the desired child plant (species) that they wanted, they named that one Pikmin. The difference between the native plants to the new one is that the new one is a crossbred hybrid like a liger (lion/tiger) is a hybrid or a like a mule (donkey/horse) is a hybrid and usually hybrids tend to be sterile (although plants can be more compatible to inter-genus breeding making hybrids that can reproduce moreso than mammalian examples). I have no clue if the Pikmin plant can seed, by the way. But anyway, so, it would be like the differences in traits that you'd see between you and your siblings/family members up to your grandparents if your two grandparents were of different "races" and regions of the world, imagine the beautiful diversity in pigments and traits and styles that you'd see within your family members.
TL;dr So, that's what they did, they basically did what happens when you cross a water mint with a spearmint (peppermint) through trial and error. They made a PikminMint. XD
