Brawl Wiimote Voice Clips BUT Audio is In HIGH QUALITY!

- When you select a character in Super Smash Bros Brawl with a Wiimote, it will play a sound effect or voice clip from the character you've selected. The audio that comes from the Wiimote speakers are terrible but now we can hear how the actual audio sounds using Super Sawnds.
Super Sawnds: gamebanana.com/tools/9883
Note: I will not share the sound files needed to properly use it.

For those who are recording Wii games through the actual Wii/WiiU. If you go into the remote settings in the home menu and turn the Wii speaker all the way to off, all sounds will be played through the TV instead. A lot of people don't know about this.
I realised that in my first day of a pikmin 2 playthrough (shameless plug)
I think I heard about it but forgot... I wonder if the audio is better in that sense.
However this does not work in Brawl. If you turn off the remote speaker, no sound is played at all on the TV
Tantos años y no sabia esto 😱
Really? I've never heard that.
I like how they sound compressed even in highest quality
I know this might not be a popular opinion but I honestly think it sounds better coming out of the wiimote. The original samples are really compressed and muffled but the wiimote speaker has that Christmas to it that isn't necessarily clear but it kind of takes out some of the muddiness of the audio sample.
Probably because they needed to be small enough to be transferred to the Wii Remote
@@cyclops8238 ik the word Christmas was probably a mistake but it sums it up perfectly somehow
@@QuartzOfficial it... really doesnt. it sounds like shit lol
That's because interpolation is on, muffling the sound due to its low sample rate. If you turn off interpolation, the samples will sound crunchy again.
I think I'm utterly convinced that wiimote speakers have the same quality as McDonald's Happy meal toys
Yes haha😂
What about when "Toy Story" was released on Sega Genesis?
@@321SPONGEBOLTwe're talking speaker quality, not sample rates
Similar sound but the genesis was due to hardware limitations where the 'motes were for cost efficiency
not wrong on how similar they sound though, both have that iconic crunchiness
1:53 What we hear.
1:55 What the Star Fox team hears.
Im dead 💀
True
“Playtime’s over, Star Fox.”
I really wish they kept this feature! Even though no controllers have an actual speaker (not counting the hd rumble) it’d still add a level of charm to selecting a character
In Smash 4 you could still use WiiMotes, but they didn't add this feature apparently
The HD rumble can play music in a certain level of Kirby Star Allies, they probably can make that for Super Smash Bros Ultimate
@@Calcetinuxiareally liked the amount of detail they put in that. Wish we could’ve gotten little parts of victory themes from joycon rumbles
2:01 “Okay”

Better words have never been spoken
Listening to these again paints a clear picture of which characters I played all the time as a kid.
The wiimote sounds for characters like Kirby, Pikachu, Toon Link, Sonic and Lucas live in my head rent free.
I never got to hear them cause I only used my Gamecube controllers
Captain falcon for me
Luigi for me
Pit for me, I mained him
mother 3 reference 🤯
The Wiimote sounds, especially from Smash and Mario Kart were surreal and iconic
It's always a nostalgic experience hearing these sounds, especially from the Wiimote's speakers
Wait Mario Kart had sounds for the Wiimote too??
@@thegamersclub385 yeah, the sounds for tricking, item warnings, and even Luma's cheery cries all came from the Wii Remote
@@cjlite0210 Hi CJ
me but with the ping from Sonic
@@thecrazedpotatoman no way it's THE CHAZ from Hypnotic's Bruh Moment
I forgot how depressed Ike sounds through the wii mote, he sounds so done with fighting for his friends xD
Yeah, for real. His taunt has more energy than his select voice.
@@Master0fHyrule I believe those sounds were used really early on on development ? And they never updated them ?
I.e Bowser still has his classic 64 sound there
I love that at 1:34 Snake voice really sounds like it comes from his communication device
Feels like I'm getting phone calls from the whole Smash cast lol
There was a game that used the wiimote speaker for phone calls! It's called "Lit" and it's like a school full of darkness (you die if you go in the darkness, so you have to light up your path)
I only ever had the demo, but there was a part where you would walk up to a phone, push a button to pick it up, then place the wiimote by your ear to hear someone talking to you. It was a really cool concept.
God that Pit voice clip just screams nostalgia
The nostalgia from the ping of picking Sonic hits like a truck
@@zer0_iz_d34dGreat album!
@@zer0_iz_d34dit sounds better on the wii remote💀
Since this video is better than my original one, I decided to remove it.
I forgot to mention, I used an Elgato Wave 3 microphone to record the Wiimote. (Not Sponsored)
Cool
Can they do that in smash ultimate
Kirby
I love brawl mods. Can you do more?
I find it really interesting that you can hear how the low-end was compressed in the original recordings, so that it sounded more balanced when playing through the boosted high-frequencies of the Wiimote speaker. That was an incredibly clever move.
Yeah that was the first thing that stood out to me, but even all the high shelving in the world ain’t saving the wiimote speaker from sounding like a tin can lmao 💀
Similar thing happens with the DS too, where hearing the source audio sounds cursed without that very distinctly bad but nostalgic sound signature from those speakers
I love how the Wii remote audio sounds like a McDonald’s toy, while the files sound like a message left on an answering machine.
Pit's "The fight is on!" is so good.
1:14 Pokémon trainer sounds like he’s ready to drop a mixtape
2:31 when Lucas learned Special Beam Cannon?
Actually you CAN select Zero Suit Samus in the Brawl roster. When selecting Samus, just hold L and R (Gamecube/Classic Controller) or Z (Nunchuk) or minus (WiiMote)
The announcer won't say the name, only when going to battle she appears.
i find it odd that the Dorf and Bowser have older sound effects. the roar is only heard from Bowser in the N64 era. similar for Ganon except that some of it is reused for Melee.
The 64 Bowser Roar was actually used one more time post N64-era, not counting SM64DS, in the first NSMB game
@@Fres576 true, i forgot about that one. and i'll give you another! Bowser does it right before the final boss in Sunshine. its really funny to me how much of a juxtaposition it is.
Peach also has her Melee voice when selected.
Bowser also did it in Luigi’s Mansion and in Yoshi’s Island DS.
Also, in the SSBM’s USA Commercial, right when you see Ridley roar, Bowser’s roar plays.
@@ArcRay20Well Sunshine was the first mainline game after 64, not counting Luigi's mansion, so of course they used it.
Sunshine was also kinda rushed so there's that
An interesting fact that Ganondorf uses his Ocarina of Time voice clip for his Wiimote despite being based on his Twilight Princess incarnation
That voice clip was actually unused in Melee, and seems to originate from that game rather than OOT, though it is definitely the OOT voice. I’m guessing that it was reused for this because it wasn’t too far off from TP Ganondorf’s shouting and the Wii mote’s horrible sound quality further disguises that fact.
Little interesting fact: the clip’s file name in Melee partly has KIRIFUDA (trump card/last resort in Japanese), which itself is close to the Final Smash’s Japanese name of 最後の切りふだ, or Saigo no Kirifuda (Last Trump Card) likely meaning it was intended for the Melee incarnation of Final Smashes (it’s a well-known fact that Sakurai had been wanting to add them since the original game).
Another is that Peach is using her Melee taunt voiced by Jen Taylor when in Brawl she's voiced by Samantha Kelly
That empty mewtwo audio is really cool, suggests that they either forgot or that mewtwo's removal was last minute due to time restraints.
mewtwo has the most existing game data of any unfinished character
Pretty sure the reason he was removed was more to give Lucario the spotlight since at the time he was the new popular pokemon and also was already similar to Mewtwo move wise.
1:49 King Dedede! (*Farts*) Ha ha ha!
When I was a kid I always laughed at the sound Ganondorf made, since I thought it sounded similar to someone puking.
I remember selecting all of the characters just to hear the noises the Wii Mote made. Good times.
I mean honestly, who didn't do that? XD
No wonder why you Wii mote break
Captain Falcon was a character my and my old buds always picked. We’d try to sync the sound with each other’s wiimote so many times, that grunt and Luigi’s “hi-ya!” (Since he was my brawl main) will always be etched to my brain.
2:22 *To all Real Falcon Mains that aren’t TryHards and watch Fatality’s videos* YYEEEEAAAH!
Man this was the funniest shit to me when I was younger
I kind of wish future Nintendo controllers would bring back the speakers, yes their quality wasn't great but it was charming and it may be minor in Brawl but I loved this use of the wiimote. Imagine joycons making sounds for stuff like collecting coins in Oddessy for example similar to starbits in galaxy or Ultimate giving us their voicelines
It took so many years… But we all got it.
0:48 Mr. *M I C R O W A V E*
Sounds like they increased the bass on the sounds to compensate for how the Wiimote sounds. The actual sound files sounds higher quality, but muffled, while the Wiimote sounds more correct, but lower quality.
This is it for sure, the audio engineers just equalized the sound accordingly so it would sound less harsh.
1:12 so that’s what Brent was talking about
Who’s Brent?
I've always loved Bowser's roar from the wii remote, the nostalgia hits hard
it sounds like you’re hearing the wiimote sounds from another room
These audio clips are so ingrained in my brain that whenever I selected any brawl characters during Smash 4 and when I select characters in Ultimate, I do these voice clips myself 😂😂😂
Yo, same! For me it's Kirby, Meta Knight, Cfalcon, Wolf, and Snake.

They sound like those Happy Meal toys that had the speakers on the back of their heads that activated sound effects. Imagine how awesome it would be if Nintendo teamed up with McDonald’s or Burger King to make a set of Super Smash Bros characters, Excluding Sonic & Snake to avoid copyright complications, with the same sound effects used from the Wii remote.
That controller was really one of a kind. There’ll never be a game controller like it again. I miss the old days
2:36 Makes sense as they planned to add him into Brawl, but their was no time for him, so Mewtwo was scrapped.
That explains countless things. I wonder what would have been his role in the Subspace Emissary…
I wonder how it would have been for the WiiU/3DS and Ultimate newcomers
Imagine you’re a kid chilling at night, just trying to play your game without being caught and you heart a muffled, distant *FIGHT ME.* from the wiimote
Falcon's low quality YEAH scream will never not be funny to me.
Wiimote has no audio interpolation
the other primary difference is in the EQ; the wii remote speakers aren't good lol
1:03 bruh i didnt expect zelda to have shaved armpit tbh
wtf
1:09 Fight me!
Rex: *FIGHT ME!!*
Fascinating that a bunch of em use their melee voices
Samus literally sounds like a squirrel 😂
Pit’s line is everything to me. I used to play as pit all the time, and hearing his voice line means alot
0:40
"Come on!"
"Pikachu!!!"
I will do no such thing!!!
I love how you can easily tell if an audio clip is coming out of a Wii Remote
The Kirby one would just destroy your speakers 😂
Hey MOH did you know that Screen KO’s on Flatzone in Super Smash Bros Melee look different from what they usually look like?
Lucario straight up yells like Kratos
Thank god u made the Game&Watch high quality! I was never able to make out the beeps and boops, now I understand.
Mega Knight saying “Fight me” cause he knows he is the best character!
Sonic got all the rings 2:02
It does sound like Jigglypuff says "puff". But since the name changes based on language, does the sound change based on language? Is there one for Purin? Pummeluff? Rondoudou?
In the Japanese version it is a different clip
I think it says Purin? I don't remember
Not sure about other versions but other characters have different wiimote sounds in the Japanese version (Fox, Falco, Wolf, Ike, Pit, Jigglypuff, Snake etc)
This brought so much nostalgia into my ears, thank you so much ❤❤

I can finally hear Luigi's "Hi-ya" sound in higher quality! 🤩
His is my favourite! This game brings back so many memories! ^^
1:46 best ice climber niose ever
Ike sounds like a dude Who knows he's getting pranked through a call and has nothing else to do but to play along.
Mario's "Here we go" is so precuous omg.
Some of these definitely seem like they were altered to account for the speaker, but wow is the Compression noticeable.
Nice!
There's something oddly nostalgic about the wiimote speaker's sound quality
1:47
nyo
It's like these sounds could be their own toys.
They sound a lil muffled for it being HQ
When I was a kid, I always thought Fox’s real name was Sean because that’s what his wiimote voice line sounded like
I only came for my man Captain Falcon🤣
Trying to play the Wii at night would always end in failure with the Wii remote sound,
The sheer nostalgia this just gave me is unreal.
Man even this is giving me nostalgia. I remember always going to Blockbuster and renting Super Smash Brothers Brawl, and then eventually buying it at Target. Good times!
It's pretty cool hearing the Wii Remote sounds from Brawl without the muffled Wii Remote audio!
Edit: Removed an emoji since it autoposted for somereason and looked out of place
1:09
That sounds different from his other, and more iconic, "Fight me!" Sounds almost like a different voice, too.
i find it really interesting that the low quality of the sound files cuts the high frequencies of the sounds, meanwhile the low quality speakers cut the low frequencies, leading to a more balanced sound at the end of the line. i wonder if that was intentional
the reason you can hear high frequencies on the wiimote speaker is because it doesn't use a filter on those low frequency sounds (as it should), so those high frequencies you hear are aliasing(they were not in the original recording)
I was actually watching the old video when it suddenly got privated, crazy coincidence but glad I can now hear the clips in higher quality
For those wondering, these play at 6000 mono.
Also modding these are funny
Wild how like half of these sound better through the wiimote than internal
I remember when Brawl's character select screen looked so huge! Now it looks puny...
Very nice
Wii Remote is so amazing voices in Super Smash Bros. Brawl with all characters.
Did anyone think that the characters were trapped in the remotes? Captain Falcon sounds like he’s in pain.
Bro, that was nice to hear that from my Wiimote! DO THAT SWITCH!
Oddly nostalgic
I make the Wii remote sounds when CPU is Random.

Mewtwo was likely there since he was cut from the game before release
If they make another Smash game, they need to bring this back where it plays a voice line in the game
