In our ukulele jam there about a 1/4 of us that play the Enya s !!! They are great for taking to jams. You can leave them in the car and not worry about them. I would highly recommend them for every player
Fun comparison. These are really beneficial for distinguishing amongst so many brands and sizes on offer. I have the tenor and concert and have had three minis for kids. The tenor having a wider neck is an advantage. I put a low g on mine. Sounds good. Of the three I like the concert sound the best. The mini is rather bright and I prefer the Flight travel ukes better for sound. But the mini is very playable. The rounded edges on the body and thinner body really add to playability for all three models. That matters. So any cheaper bands have bodies with sharp uncomfortable edges. Enya overall just makes good ukes. Oh yeah. The three sizes in three different colours when placed together make great wall art!
Great info there Jeff, Thanks. Totally agree with you about the different sounds and that is top of my to do list - change to low G. Yes, wish I had 3 different colours but unfortunately only the black soprano was available when I was buying. Very cool ukes for kids! 😎
A good comparison thank you. I have a Nova U concert in black. I chose it so that it could take a bit of abuse and I can carry it on my bike. And of course the great price. Good reviews, including yours of course, made up my mind that this is a perfect uke for beginners too. Where I live we have very low humidity and high heat for part of the year which could kill some wooden insturments if you neglected them. But we also get rainy season and the Nova Us are waterproof. It keeps its tuning very well, the only thing that affects it is if it get hot, or cold, then a retune is needed. Being black, direct sun plays havoc with tuning, so it is better to play in the shade. I have made an outer carry case which is waterproof, and has daisy chain webbing straps that allow me to fix it to the bike, on top of the panniers, and it is bright orange for road safety. The uke and original carry case just slide in the waterproof outer case I made. The orginal carry case is a bit small/snug, it is not a gig bag, but I can still pack what I need around the uke in the carry case. I carry: A5 clipboard with the corners cut rounded to fit, that doubles as a music stand (with a mini folding mobile phone stand), or I can clip it to a tent pole. This sits under the uke body. Under the head I have the spare strings and capo. On one side of the neck I have a battery tuner, on the other side of the neck I have a slim pencil case with pen, pencil, pencil shapener, small eraser, nail clippers, nail file, and the folding mini mobile phone stand. I have had the Nova U for about a year now, and I now never get bored. It just goes in the car or on the bike when I go for a day ride. Loving it.
Loved reading your comment Mark, it sounds like you have an awesome set up for your Nova U and how you “pimped” your bike for it too really sounds like you have got the ultimate riding / playing setup. With your climate I totally agree, the Enyas are ideal for this especially taking it outside. 👍😎
Great review Rachel. All 3 sound great but struggled to hear that much difference which I am sure was down to listening on my cheap phone so that will give me a chance to watch a second time on the TV 😊. Thanks for the video I am just a little worried my UAS is starting to come back.
Hope the sound is more clear on the TV, I often find myself listening on headphones, especially with anything for bass. Lovely to hear from you though and don’t let the UAS overpower! 😉
Another great review video, with my less tuned in ear i did find it difficult to differentiate between the Mini and the Concert, I really liked the Tena though and i agree with William I might get one. Thanks again Rachel keep up the good work ❤
I owned all three sizes, and my favorite is the tenor because of the metal frets and also because I purchased it with the AcousticPlus feature. And while I normally prefer playing concert size ukes, I gave my concert uke away because I thought it sounded just a little too bland regardless of which strings I used. I just received the soprano yesterday, thanks to an Amazon lightning deal (delivered for under $35 USD). 🙂 It's adorable and like you suggest, I'll keep it in the car. In any case, thank you for making yet another wonderful video.
@@twokatmew it sounds amazing plugged in. The built-in effects are a little bland, so definitely check out Rachel’s videos on pedals and amps. A while back I purchased 3 mini Donner pedals and a looper and they really sound incredible and are a lot of fun. 👍🏻😊
I had "brilliant fun" watching that! It was so well edited! The best scene, of course, was the highly scientific wind resistance test on the giant strap button. 😂👍🏻
This was the best demonstration for these ukuleles. Thank you for this. My first ukulele was an all plastic model from a different brand. The plastic frets do wear away. I would probably buy the mini if it had metal frets. I have owned three ukuleles. At one time I owned three. Since I only played the newest one, the others were sold. I prefer ukuleles with cut away body shapes. That is why these Enya models appeal to me, at least the tenor makes the cut.
Thanks you for your lovely comment. Yes, these ukes are great, I haven't experienced any fret wear yet but it wouldn't suprise and ues, the metal freat on the tenor are a really nice feature.
If there ever is a need for someone to play a uke in space, this lady should get an offer to fly. Love the giant strap button playing. Wind resistance being such an important characteristic, obviously. 😊
Great detailed review! Really appreciate the actual measuring of uke depth! (My wife likes the thinner ukes.) Enya ukes are extremely impressive and high quality at impossible low prices. I got the MAD Acoustic Electric for just over $100 direct from Enya, and it was beautiful, worked perfectly, perfect intonation, and nut and saddle both were at perfect height! It light be the only uke I bought that didn’t need any extra adjustments.
Glad it was helpful and even better your wife is happy too. I agree, for what they are and the price I think these are fab ukes and as you say, ready to play! 😊
Rachel, thank you so much for the demos. When you tapped on the body, it didn't sound like wood, but it sounded better than I thought it would. I love the sound from both the concert and tenor. After seeing this demo, I think there might be a tenor in my future. Thank you so much for these detailed reviews. They are very informative and helpful.
Thanks for the comparison, Rachel. I favor tenors, as I played classical guitar for so long (and needed a smaller instrument due to aging hands). Each sounds so different, and I prefer the fuller tone of the tenor pro. Have you played one with the AcousticPlus pickup? My U-bass is my only uke with a pickup, and I just got myself a looper to play with. 🤔😊
You're very welcome Margaret, I haven’t tried the acoustic plus so can’t comment sorry. For me personally I want to be able to take the Enyas out in the rain or sun and bash them about so to have all the electronics in it sort of defeats the object. I’ll look forward to hearing what you end up getting 😎
I am partial to the concert. I have it in 3 color versions. I ordered the tenor in gun metal gray from Enya and had Low G installed at no extra cost, which they always offer. I have one mini and don't care for the tone as much as the concert or the tenor. These are my favorite of all ukuleles. I really do love the overall style and appearance. I have found nothing to NOT like about them. I was even moved to buy their 1/2 sized Nova Go guitar! I love it, too! Now, to learn how to play! 🎶😄

Thanks Stephanie 😊 I would highly recommend these ukes, I’m pretty sure they are available in the US and please don’t worry about not being able to use Amazon UK. 😉

Interesting comparison Rachel. I have the concert and the soprano. I found the soprano neck to be too narrow for me. But it is a nice ukulele Also I changed the strings on my concert and I thought it sounded better. A gentleman at my Jam group recommended Worth clear. Thought that might be helpful 😊.
Thanks Bonnie, useful to know about the strings as I do intend t do some swapping out soon. I’m not naturally a soprano player either but just managing this one, better than my Kala sopranos. 👍
I have the Concert Aklot but I do like the sound of the Enya Tenor and that dog prefers it too singing along with you 😊. Been thinking of putting a low G on my concert too 🤔
