I am 68yrs old.. I lived through the greatest times.. I wouldn't trade the years I lived through, for nothing in the world.. I am blessed... Dean Martin, the roasts, his Dean Martin show, all the best entertainment there was
I remember when these first aired. My parents, sister and I were in stiches every time. This was the best of the best. No talent of this caliber has, nor will, ever done better. This was the pinnacle of Hollywood and America. Everyone had a sense of humor and being "offended" had not yet become a job skill.
Don't kid yourself. Some of the later roasts were absolutely *brutal* compared to this! Have you seen how Chevy Chase was *obliterated* at his, years after this? Rickles wasn't the greater because "everyone had a sense of humor back then & knew how to take a joke." He was the best because he was the best.
Rickles was always good. But Milton Berle had to get his mug in. Whenever Uncle Miltie was guesting on a variety or talk show he would always interrupt the headliner to get attention. Jerry Lewis was similar.
Leslie Townes "Bob" Hope was born on May 29, 1903, in England. His father was a stonemason and his mother a light opera singer. The Hope family immigrated to the US in 1908.
these were all fake--just actors--most hated each other, phony laughs--just a fake show=it was staged--they all knew each others lines and practiced beforehand
Why did you cut out the part where Rickles made fun of Sugar Ray Robinson? Are we really so sensitive these days? Making fun of people because the way they talk or walk or sit...it's not anything to get upset about and besides, all these people are dead.
You might want to be careful with that. There was actually two roasts filmed, one which was filmed for tv and the other which was quite a bit more raunchy.
@@wayneg.8232A roast is intentionally insulting and crude. Just look back at these old ones without rose-tinted glasses, and you'll see a lot of the humour was just, insulting and crude! Incredibly funny, though 😁
@@dougbrowne9890 Rickles certainly didn’t. He was about as funny as that dame who got so many face lifts- which is to say, not at all. But tastes vary. If you like him, more power to you.
These roasts were probably the greatest assemblage of talent that could ever be.
These Roasts were the greatest ❤️

Yes agree, those were wonderful times. Im blessed to be part of an era we will never see again.
I've got a few years on you and totally agree.
I’m with you on that one
An era of comedy gone forever.
And no use of the F or N word... pure talent
These guys were top notch ....all the greats ..
Comedy at another level.
OMG - Dean - "You aint reached that year yet"
Awww...thank you Jerry! 😂😂
😂
The great masters of comedy.
I've watched this three times and I am still laughing. 😊
I wish we could have great shows like this. Rickles even roasted Billy Graham!
I'm so old I GOT the 'Evel Knievel' reference...
lol…I’m with ya.
Me too
Me three!
"Thank you Jerry!"
I first this bit about 15 years back. Till then only knew Rickles for Kelly's Heroes, seeing this bit made me a fan forever.
the room is all class❤

Made Dean Martin actually spit take. 😂
Good Ole Years
All the great ones are hone. Rest in peace.
Tom Dreesen always said that Dean had the best quick wit of the Rat Pack.
"Thank your, Jerry". 😂😅
Great comedians!
Hillarious as always 😂😅❤❤
Rickles was always good. But Milton Berle had to get his mug in. Whenever Uncle Miltie was guesting on a variety or talk show he would always interrupt the headliner to get attention. Jerry Lewis was similar.
All Jewish citizens.
Which is why all those shows were so funny!
Actually, Bob Hope was born in England.
I’m in my 50s and I think he is one of the greats and those days are gone forever.
GREAT STUFF

they dont have comedians like this any more..
King of cool I love it
I really miss this show….they look like they are having soooo much fun……
In a lot of ways I miss the 70s.
We all do.
People with a sense of humor
I love Dino, From Brasil 🇧🇷
Dean was not really drunk just a great actor and singer .
Dean looked bloated during these roasts .
I wish we could return to these times😢
Wonderfully funny 😅Why can't people (politicians & celebrities) laugh at themselves anymore? It's become a sad strange world.
these were all fake--just actors--most hated each other, phony laughs--just a fake show=it was staged--they all knew each others lines and practiced beforehand
You would enjoy the evening, if you knew you were here 😂
Mon oncle le meilleur sur terre, paix à ton âme
You can lead a horse to Don Rickles but you can't make him laugh 🐴
The horse or Mr. Rickles?
Feels like yesterday…
The GOAT
It makes me sad that all of these people are dead.
💯👀👏👏👏
Left out the Nipsey Russell bit that Rickles did.
Why did you cut out the part where Rickles made fun of Sugar Ray Robinson? Are we really so sensitive these days? Making fun of people because the way they talk or walk or sit...it's not anything to get upset about and besides, all these people are dead.
So self congratulatory
They edited out the black jokes.
Yes. That's because of the cowardly left communist clowns running YT.
They are all dead now !
Negative post so what these guys were icons and legendary
Most people are as it turns out.
The laughter lives on.
Yeah that’s how time works.
Thats what we will say about you. All you need is to wait.
Wow how the cancel culture would outraged..lol...
Back when humor wasn't vulgar or dirty.
You might want to be careful with that. There was actually two roasts filmed, one which was filmed for tv and the other which was quite a bit more raunchy.
@@ChrisDutch That may be true. But, what aired was still cleaner than what passes as humor on tv today.

@@partypoppers1988 That is because it was funny! Everyone back then could take a joke and some could fire back quickly, like Dean Martin.
I've just roasted my beef with some gravy
Wow good for you your beef dinner is more important than laugh😂😢
Don't forget the potatoes to sop up the extra gravy.
You censored the racist joke
That's because the posted was likely threatened by the rodeo clown communists running YT.
😊😉
Is that the guy running for vice-president with Kamala? It looks like him but this guy seems nicer.
It is dumb people, like you, that try to bring politics into everything.
Except THIS guy is funny and clever and the other guy is dumb as shit 😂😂😂
love don rickles but all of these are recycled.
That's because all of this talent is gone and they aren't making new skits!
Bob Hope wasn’t the slightest bit funny
I never thought Rickles was funny. This didn’t change my mind.
You have no humor.
@@dougbrowne9890 Rickles certainly didn’t. He was about as funny as that dame who got so many face lifts- which is to say, not at all. But tastes vary. If you like him, more power to you.
