They knew that they could laugh at each other and had so much respect for one another. Saw Don perform a number of times in Vegas and was never more impressed by how hard this man worked as a comedian. Kept everyone in stitches. My favorite comedian of all time.

I don't think I ever laughed as hard as I did at RDJ in Tropic Thunder, we all need to lighten up.
I was in high school in the early to mid 1970's and I watched Sanford and Son,All in the Family,the Flip Wilson Show and Barney Miller and all kinds of jokes were thrown around and yet nobody talked about cancelling anyone, we just laughed

We couldn't have this ,today. My daughter can't believe this . People were friendly and take each other seriously . We don't have shows without vulgarity .I remember these people . They were great .
I remember watching this from age 9. So very funny and still is today.
I've never seen any comedian that can insult everybody so graciously and with such perfect timing and improvisation. I don't think there's any other human being that can achieve this without offending like Don does. You know he really meant some of those comments, but yet you still laugh at them.

Saw Don perform a number of times in Vegas and was never more impressed by how hard this man worked as a comedian. Kept everyone in stitches. My favorite comedian of all time.
Hilarious. Don Rickles is so funny here; his sense of humor really shines, but what really stands out is his humanity. Rickles ends each roast with a heartfelt speech about the man of the hour. He speaks with such humility.

When no one is safe, everyone can laugh. With Don, no one was safe, and as always, he ended with some honest love. People forget that. It's what is missing in today's comedy, not the humor, but the love.
It was odd to see his routine toward the end of his life, cause he still maintained his style of comedy...though in a world of spineless amoebas. The awkward part was me still keeling over in tears while seeing others not sure if they should laugh.
