Dan is genuinely a master of his craft. I wish all barbers would take this much pride and care in their work. We need to invent cloning and get a Dan in every barbershop across the globe
I finally had the haircut from him, he didn’t have much to work with, due to a bad receding hairline , however he worked wonders . Absolutely master class , well worth the 120mile trip to him, will book him again soon.
Pretty neat. Been doing dad's hair since March 2020 when the proverbial doodoo hit the fan. He still hasn't gone back to his barber and he says that by the time he otherwise would have found parking, we already did his hair (me & mom). I have learned so much here. Not only how to read the clipper guards but also how to do scissor over comb with confidence, even doing his brows, getting the hair out his ears, evening / rounding off the back with the clippers. I have learned it all online, and most of it here. My thanks go out to this channel and to Dan for being such a good teacher. It takes a lot to bring something across well! It came just in time!
This is a stellar barber! He asks, he listens, he gives advice and - above all - he really cares for his clients!! He is such a contrasts to those who appear on RUclips with their black gloves who work on their ,objects’ as if there wasn’t a tomorrow...😳😳😳😳
Brilliant, Dan got him out of his middle part comfort zone and into the modern, stylish textured fringe zone. Dylan has nothing to worry about, he looks great 👍 and the ASMR scissors didn't go unnoticed 🙂✂
I wish Dan would explain why sometimes he does a scissor cut using only the comb and sometimes he uses he hand? It seems quicker to use scissor over comb
38:08 when you say he could’ve just used sea salt spray, do you mean he could just spray it in and style it without blow drying or would he still have to blow dry before or after?
Sea salt sprays can be used on wet and dry hair, scrunch into hair and let dry and style it without a blow dryer. For some added volume, diffuse with a blow dryer.
when you lifted it up his hairline is genuinely not even bad at all , just a widows peak it’s not severe at all really . This stigma around you have to have a straight line hairline to look dece & be able to have options has gotta stop
Guys I’m a male, have longhair and a toddler that rips it off!! It needs salvaging it’s only you who can do it! Please Remember me if you fancy attempting a long hair trying not to go bald video😂 Much love guys!
Hey Dan and regal gentlemen. I know I’ve asked this before, but do guys with thinning hair have a proper horse shoe section to work from? Idk if I do or how can I explain that to a barber to section my hair like that
Hi dan!, im a big fan of your haircuts,i need your help on this. i have a fine hair, when i style it even with a strong hairclay it'll not in stay in place whats your suggestion?
I'm really surprised people mock you for the way you like to cut in my opinion the fact that you can charge 100$ a haircut proves that you are in high demand for haircuts so it doesn't matter how you section or cut the only matters is how the end result looks
I finally decided to cut my hair after 6 months of growing. Searched for one of the best barbers in Milano, but.. NOPE he still cut way too much off as 99 % of barbers in the world seems to love doing 😂 I'll never have long hair fml ..
I recommend going to a salon. For some reason the women at (most, not all)salons are more willing to give their input on what they think looks best, while actually listen to what you want, rather than just cutting it to get it over. Maybe it’s just a men vs women thing, I guess they’re just generally better listeners lol. Dan is a one in a million barber, not many are like him
Ask them to cut it to a length even longer than you want, that way hopefully they'll cut it to the right length for you. They always seem to want to cut off a bit more than we ask.
100%. It's all about being confident in the style. If wearing down makes you feel more confident then wear it down!! It's ok to say you should wear it up in the chair, but then you have to wear it day to day! The option is there to wear this one up, down or keep it growing to a middle part again!
@@RegalGentleman and thats why you are the best in the game. Respecting and giving what your clients want but at the same time offering them versatility to change it up.
Can someone please explain to me why 'Turkish' barbers have become so popular in Britain? I see them everywhere even in small towns. They are almost as popular as that other Turkish export, the donna (döner) kebab. I think they are pretty bad at hair cutting/styling and have no formal training - they start as boys sweeping up hair on the floor and holding the hairdryer! Maybe it's because they tidy up your nasal hair and trim the hair in your ears? In my book that's personal grooming and I prefer to do that myself
They are absolutely awful and the vast majority of them don't understand the basic principles of cutting hair. You can spot a "Turkish Barber" haircut a mile off, because they shave the back of the hair right up into the crown and shave the sides too high, following the roundness of the head (rather than nice and square at the sides). They remove too much hair and finish with thinning shears all over whatever hair is left on top. I think the trend started because of the novelty of the ear and nasal hair removal and has now continued due to their cheaper pricing.
@@brendanfisher I couldn't agree with you more. Although I can recognize a Turkish haircut (having endured a couple myself) I could never work out just what Turkish barbers do so badly. The lack of even the basic principles of cutting hair is obvious - I'm not a barber and I think I know more about this than they do! - but you are absolutely right about how they follow the roundness of the head rather than square at the sides and this makes the 'Turkish' so identifiable. And don't get me going about thinning shears! By the way, I've been living and working in Turkey for the last 4 years and guess what? I have long, all one length hair so I only have to get the ends trimmed now and again. To have long hair isn't really my choice - it's 2022 not 1968! - but better that than live with the trauma of another Turkish!!!
Awful, and because there are too many of these so called barbers I mainly see them sitting around or outside, smoking and staring at their cellular phones. There are too many of these salons and honestly, never ever would I enter one! And believe me, they won’t last!
@@claudiaconrad9759 I really hope you are right Claudia and that it is just a passing fad. What makes me angry is that they have established such a reputation that it has become a brand. Turkish Barber is proclaimed in BIG bold letters and the name of the establishment is hardly noticeable. Just because they slap a few hot towels on your face and pluck a few hairs from certain orifices, the hatchet job done on your hair is overlooked or forgiven. Dan, in my opinion, is an excellent barber, he really knows his stuff(!) and that combined with his awesome skill and talent and pride/pleasure in what he does = outstanding haircuts. I fear that future Dans will lose out to the 'Brand' and that the Turkish (my name for that seriously bad haircut they give you) will be around for a while yet. I hope I am wrong

Can most barbers do this or should I go to a salon? I have a middle part style and I want to go for a shorter textured style like this.
