SO BRILLIANT! Thank you.
Still miss him❤
Thank you for your curation. Very valuable.

Davids son Duncan Jones said on X/Twitter; “What i loved about the Parkinson’s interview is that on any other interview, i could see the mask. A performance disguising the person underneath. This was pure dad. Utterly him.”
Bowie's son, Duncan, has said this is the interview in which he's at his most natural, possibly due to Parky's Yorkshire accent.
Kuwait David
I'm sure the cocaine helped 🤣

he quite along time ago

He looks so good here and satisfied with his life. Heaven has the greatest band ever!
Thanks for watching and commenting Tammy
David Bowie was unique..there will never be a performer like him. And for a very long time, he seemed to defy age..but even he couldn’t fight cancer..an amazing man that the World needed a lot longer than 67-8 odd years..
55 years old here and looking FANtastic. Wonderfully unique man, total genius
"My son watched me grow up." How brilliantly profound that is! How raw and honest and sadly true. David, you are so badly
missed - and needed in the world more than ever. You passed this way so briefly but left us your music - and your wisdom for all time.
The gentleman from start to the end. The class of his own.
Thanks for watching and commenting Igor
The fact that he corrects Parky to add his son from his first marriage is admiral, we have lost a great man 😔
What a lovely clever bloke. The sort of person you would want to be your best mate.
What a lovely guy was Bowie, he's mature, funny, natural and relaxed - and a brilliant talk show guest. He deserved to be around an awful lot longer than he got.
He should have had another 20 years
I don't think I have ever heard Bowie speak so long. Amazing - what a nice guy. And of course mega talented. RIP Ziggy.
I have saved all manner of music on my playlists but all I seem to play is anything and everything from David Bowie....his music still excites me the way it did when I was a teenager, I'm nearly 65 now....true genius and a definite one off...we won't see his like again....
Bowie was always a class act. A true superstar.
He was
True that
You can tell that that Tom and Bowie liked each other in this. Great interview
Thanks for watching and commenting Trystan🙂
Its hard not to like these two guys. Both giants in their fields and both seem like decent human beings.
David was always so handsome and well spoken. I will always love him and miss his special spark ⚡️
Pure a me😢😢😢😢😢❤
My sister in law always said look at his beautiful hair
I'll give it up for Hanks. He just sat listened.Unless spoken too.He knows a star when he gets to sit next to one.First row seat to witness what has become a classic interview.
yeah he got twitchy when Bowie mentioned p"dos though eh..
@@meisterlymanu5214 Haha I certainly noticed that! That is why he split to live in Greece! Safe there!
I agree, respect from one legend to another
@@meisterlymanu5214 He has been dealt with now.🔥
@Ann Pommer Same here.♥️👍
"They fuck you up your Mum and Dad..." 05:00 Bowie quotes from Philip Larkin's famous poem "This be the verse"
David was a genuine nice guy...down to earth and witty. The working class boy from Brixton who revolutionized music.
Agree. And such a visionary.
@igor grozni seems like He worshipped the devil. Blessing doesn't come from that source.
my dad was security tasked with looking after Bowie while he toured nz in the 80's... dad always remembered what a humble, non-demanding guy he was, didn't throw a tantrum when dad told him he had to stay in his room - just played guitar and relaxed... so dad, realising Bowie was humble took him to a ding dong māori garage party on boot hill...... and they all sang the night away.... next day, on with the show...... we know how cool he was xxx
I can't believe he was not a thoroughly decent bloke when no one was looking either - you don't tend to have showbiz marriages lasting THAT long if you're secretly a complete b'stard.
Suzanna Bonke, the devil only exists in the hearts and minds of those who see him everywhere
Every time I watch David Bowie sharing this anecdote about Mick Jagger ("Get your hair cut!" - "What, and look like you?"), it makes me laugh 😂. He was such a great storyteller.
This was the night my old Dad died, which is the main reason this sticks in my memory. David gave me great comfort that night me, being a life long fan anyway, thankyou David.

Oh what perfection is Bowie! Swoon
Tom Hanks can't believe his luck to be seated next to this legend.
Love Tom Hanks.
@이낸시 good to know..!
Two guys with almost 100 years of working continuously at their respective crafts.
I agree, he looked star struck!
Exactly!😃
David Bowie is SO charming!
He not only had a great singing voice, but a great voice in general along with warm smile and personality.

Awsome interview, s9rrty not to have0n mate, had a stroke in June, still in rehab. Been hard work, using phone is hard too. Back soon hopefully .
@@vicsomeone Hi Vic, I am glad you explained what's been going on, I did wonder why there had been no comments from you for a while, so sorry to read about your stroke. If you get offered acupuncture as part of the rehab, then take it, a close mate had a stroke 30 years back, had big problems with one hand and acupuncture was the best thing he always told me. Keep me posted on how you progress, I read every comment, so I will see any comments you make on any video.
He is so self deprecating it's so refreshing. Does not take himself seriously.
Does he even know all that he has done? Absolutely love him.
F'ing this.
Two things that appealed to me - the way he likes the notes that seem a little odd and unexpected, and the way he didn't see himself as rebellious - he's right, he was experimental, not rebellious: his difference wasn't directed against anyone.
An exceptionally talented and wonderful man with the best TV interviewer. So glad just to be able to watch this. Tom Hanks was the perfect gentleman.
One of the most important and creative artists of the last century.
Awwww such a loss to the world, and him saying he didn't think he could sing? Anyone who likes his music will NEVER forget his voice.
What a wonderful person he is deeply missed. God Bless.
He was a great man.
Was he a Christian?
What a humble and brilliant man.
The world is a poorer place without Bowie. (In memory of a free festival) RIP
First vinyl single I bought, still have it 😄
@@diamonddog4708 great song, even after all these years
He was such an entertainer. So funny and warm. Loved him, loved his music. Genuine and genius. What a guy.

Hi iwont forgot mr Bowie what a guy a new romantic i learned alot be your self.
Aww, Bowie, the naturally charming, funny, silly, genius with the best smile.
Superb Interview

What an utterly charming and decent bloke, so sadly missed, God Bless You David x
R.I.P. Michael and David.
Wow....what a piece of film. David Bowie was incredibly self assured. I have to say having seen some of the very biggest music acts from 1980 until 2010...David Bowie was head and shoulders above everyone else for his professionalism as a musician....along with the musicians he used, he defined 'a class act'. A truly unique and extraordinary man.
Oh yeah...I was gong to mention how a superstar comes on a chat show wearing jeans and quite an average sweater and yet still looks the coolest guy there.
Not only a Bowie interview with the best talk show host in the UK, but beautifully interjected by Tom Hanks! Vintage tv bliss.
Thought it was so funny that Tom Hanks was there and I didn't even realize until he spoke. Everyone is laser focused on Bowie!
"NICE ONE " AS WE SAY IN HULL👍
Absolutely mesmerising. I felt bereft after watching this. Never been one for idolising anyone but Bowie... a legend.
Ditto 😓

Don't know any man who had better hair too. RIP David
Wow … could listen to David all day, What a genuine person he was…Tom Hanks star struck 😮
Seriously lol I thought it was so funny I didn't realize Tom Hanks was there until he spoke, it's not in the title and nobody speaks to him much. Everyone is laser focused on Bowie... I just had a moment of "oh damn, that's Tom Hanks!"
This is a brilliant interview.
Great to see this again.
Thank you for this.
I'm glad you found and enjoyed this Edward 🙂
Bowie's father was from Doncaster and his Grandfather was from Leeds so in fact Bowie was a Yorkshire man which explain why he was such a great and tallented person
Not just a rock god but a genuine down to earth bloke aswell.
Thanks for watching and commenting Mr Mark
Probably his best and most personal interview
Thanks for watching and commenting
RIP to "Parky"....but i always think of my dad, as we used to watch "Parkinson" religiously, but im sure it was so my dad could see how many times he touched or scratched his nose..."go on touch your nose" my dad would cry...then when he did my dad would go "wahhhhey" followed by the number, in order, of times he touched it during the episode
And I thought it was just me who noticed the nose touching, thanks for sharing the memories
ONE COOL MAN!!! Love his storytelling and comes across as so very down to earth he makes you feel right at home, Bowie forever!! ♥️
Brilliant interview.
I'm glad you found and enjoyed this video 🎸
Priceless, David really was like someone from the distant future.
As a Bowie obsessed fan I've seen this a few times but as sadly Parky has passed away I've rewatched it. What a brilliant chat with two legends in there own craft. Parky was a top interviewer ( watch his Ali interviews) Tom Hanks plays along without trying to butt in . I've seen so many Bowie interviews but this is ( and only my opinion guys) the most relaxed and interesting I've heard him. RIP to two wonderfully talented guys.
Totally agree !
I did not realize how funny David was. He said MANHANDS
So inresting that a man that was an advocate for gay, outsiders, lipstick, dresses long hair and what not, has everyone in society today, enthralled with him even after his passing;
I have never seen a man, artist so idolized, loved and missed by the general mainstream crowd even after representing what he represented all along. Historical and gives me hope for mankind.
He said "Be brave enough to be yourself", nowadays we can only salute him for that
ahahahah that Mick Jagger impression, crying
It's incredible!
I've had to listen ten times, hilarious!!!!!
David sounds more like Mick than Mick does! lol
Saw David three times, money well spent❤❤❤❤❤❤❤!!
David Bowie was a true Artist. Total individuality and no agenda.
This interview is amazing. I always assumed Bowie was shy, bored by interviews and a bit po-faced as he seemed to be earlier in his career but here he really lets his guard down and is obviously enjoying himself. Parkinson was extremely good at relaxing his guests and getting some great anecdotes out of them and this is a great example. Maybe it's the fact he wasn't in awe of Bowie but just treated him as a regular guy with some interesting stories to tell and the fact that he was sharing the stage with a star like Hanks meant Bowie didn't need to feel on edge because of it.
no its not parky or hanks its simply bowie full stop
Earlier in his career interviewers were talking to the cocaine. This is the real him.
Because he found the love of his life
This is the real Bowie . . post drugs.
He was a warm, funny and extremely entertaining man.
He was fucked on coke for most of his earlier interviews. This is David Jones
Too cool.
I miss him badly.
A musical genius who influenced so many, brilliant actor author and many other things, yet so humble ❤️

Sweet swert David! He was beyond fun and witty. Such a happy kind man!
Life Allah
I never realised how much I like David Bowie. Ashes to ashes mate x
That mick Jagger impersonation 😂😂😂
How can one have such deep thoughts without losing himself? Such an Inspiration.
It's surprising how many entertainers are deep thinkers. Often unexpectedly. Bill Murray comes to mind.
With an audience and on television, no less!
He has a distinctive gait. Love it.
How could you not love Bowie
I always wonder about that too!
He was really sonething.
❤❤❤❤
What a great guy! An absolute amazing musical talent.
Charming ,brilliant unbelievable talent ! Grateful for his music
What a story teller! He is (not was) a gift to us all. ❤
David Bowie in interview .. love him for being so down to earth, when a musical legend.
An absolute brilliant interview from start to finish...Mr David Bowie you will never be forgotten.
I believe that people who have passed away, never really die untill they are forgotten... well that's gonna take a LONG time!
I had the pleasure of spending some time with DB and Mike Garson (!). Both were as sweet as hell. MG is SO understated and nice. Geniuses.
He was gorgeous ,as a teen his posters plastered my wall , my mum worked in a video rental and I had the promo poster of merry Christmas mt Lawrence ❤️labyrinth still an all time fave . ❤️what a legend ❤️

Same, my wall was covered with this man from 10 upwards
I wish he'd given us a few more years before returning to his home planet. Such a wonderful man.
Which planet are you referring to? Great singer etc but I'm sorry to tell you that he wasn't really an alien from another planet. He was just a guy from good old planet Earth.
@@chrisseed4643 no shit... 🙄
That was amazing, thankyou, Parky sure knew how to interview, miss the days of talk shows where the person actually got more than a couple of minutes to chat!
David was a true gentleman..
Bowie was always so positive and entertaining.
Yeah, I can't recall any interview where he is downbeat or unfriendly. Thanks for watching and commenting Chad
Still is ....here ❤
He was my first hero... miss him so much...so glad his music will out live most of us RIP Mate
My Mum used to sing ‘On the Wings of the Dove’ as well 🤣
💖💖💖❤️⚡⚡⚡⚡what a beautiful human being with great humour as well god I miss him Mr David Bowie forever ⚡⚡⚡
Wish i got the chance to meet david bowie what an absolute legend with the best british humor.
I never met him, but spoke with him once via telephone, long before the internet was a thing, we spoke about bands and music, not once did we discuss anything he was doing or had done in the past, it was like talking to a friend who loved music of many different types.
Thats really cool, I find that better than any autograph or memorabilia. Glad you have that memory with one of the greats.
Oh my goodness! What a fab interview.David Bowie so unassuming and Tom hanks taking the back seat, but contributing so well. Even parky made me laugh.just so lovely.

Bowie leads us gone but never ever forgotten bless David he's ours we'll see you in heaven ❤
Parky was the master,he could get them to reveal anything.
Could listen to this guy forever he was unique no one will better this music multi talented genius
Miss this legend a lot. What a guy.
Oh how I miss David Bowie. Such a loss. Irreplaceable
Saw Bowie in Nashville in 1977. I had binoculars and not far from the stage. He smoked around half of a big joint rolled with strawberry papers. His eyes got very red and he had a big smile. It was a good concert. He had fun.
What a great era to see Bowie, you lucky man.
Bright as starman.
David never fails me to make me laugh. His voice is such a beauty. Love always hearing his voice. They were like in a podcast.
I have Prokofjev's Peter and the Wolf, narrated by David Bowie, a true gem, his voice is superb
I love Bowie, he was so good looking...love his looks and charm ⭐
Absolute legend, such a gentleman from start to finish, now making music with the angels!! R. I. P. legend
He was a Buddhist
I never did good things,I never did bad things…..this lyric…this lament….just fucking resonates in a way that can’t be expressed when you hear it,and can’t be explained to anyone that doesn’t understand it.Gotta love someone that puts it out there with no fear………
An absolute sparkling gem of an interview. Thank you 🙏
You're welcome
I love how the most replayed moment is when Bowie goes off to play a song, but we don't see it, and he just comes back to the couch LOL!!!
I've seen him this chatty in those interviews, I like this one best. He's witty, intelligent, RIP David Bowie❤.
It's so good to see him again. I miss him so much.

David always classy & stylish in any decade! So handsome.....I lived my life over & over to Hereos" my anthem.
There was something on the telly here called David Bowie : Live By Request" I'll never forget this little 3 yr old child from America,Dad puts him on a chair he asks: hi David Bowie! Super shy like kids do,can you play Ashes
To Ashes for me?? Such a sweet kid.... David smiling ear to ear id love to do that....then attempts to continue the call, asking the young boys name over/ over then breaks out into giggles!!! Brought the house down!
This man had so many hits over / over....
Married life agreed w him,
Sobriety agrees w him,too...plus he's a highly intelligent man,that's obvious!!
I miss David very much.
I' was so glad he found true happiness at last,he's made plenty of really good points here.
Very honest man,here
Again,he was another stylish/ & musician/ lyrical/ GENUIS WAY WAY AHEAD OF HIS TIME
Should've expressed myself sooner rather than later.
But I wanted for once think

Sad to even see him
