It's curious. When I was a lad growing up in this very era, 70s, I was of course acutely aware of Bowie but was a never really into his stuff. I was more Kate Bush, The Police, Dire Straits. However as I got older I at least recognised what an extraordinary talent he was, continually reinventing himself and stretching the limits of what his art could achieve. He was also a fantastic actor in such films as The Man Who Fell To Earth. I never even downloaded a Bowie song to be honest but when I woke up that morning and heard he was dead it still hit me like a ton of bricks. I've got pretty used to the heroes from my childhood passing on like Leonard Nimoy and others from the cast of Star Trek and each time you say "Oh bugger" and grieve a bit and then move on but Bowie felt like a light going out of the world. It was as if he was just too big to die. Too important, too talented. It never really sank in. It still hasn't. I'm an old curmudgeon in his 60s now but when something like this reminds me of Bowie again I shed a new tear each time.
Still can't believe this fella isn't here
So much talent fun and great vibes
Thanks for watching and commenting
I'll just finish that....which ran out just before Let's Dance and his bland David Vegas.
@steffanhoffmann You're a a barrel of laughs
Good luck , you're gonna need it
@@fluorosco Pray tell why? By the way it's going to...no such word as gonna
The classic later Bowie band lineup. Those cats were insanely talented!
Bland music then this classic cat stuff....😂 👉 🇺🇸
I never tire of watching that rendition of Life on Mars. Stunning 👌🏻
Please do not stay in a sad place even though David is no longer with us.perhaps hang a picture. and then just do all the good things and well quite simply say Hi.
Love the way he just stands, arms folded, in complete appreciation of the pianist at the end of LIfe on Mars. What a gentleman. What a legend.
That's not just any pianist. That's the great Mike Garson
Thank you for this...I miss this guy a lot.
That was wonderful

Thanks. Brilliant quality considering the age of the recording. SVHS was pretty good for domestic equipment.
Glad you enjoyed it Jonathan. SVHS was great, I switched to DVD-R at this point, but I should have stuck with SVHS, I prefer tape,
0:25 Everyone Says 'Hi'
4:46 Life on Mars?
Suis toujours aussi triste. Quelle perte,
Oui, c'est triste. Il devrait encore être ici pour faire de la bonne musique.
Bland music compared to his zenith.
Bloody embarrassing in fact.
Lyrics absolute rubbish.
Maybe it was his new gnashers.
All Americans of course will be offended by my comments.
David Jones would probably have laughed.
Cheers David mate....for your earlier output only 😂 👍 🇬🇧
A lot of Americans would agree with you (I don't though).
The Next Day is an absolute banger
Other than the Spiders, this line up is absolutely fantastic. The other drummer Zachary Alford is brilliant, this is Sterling Campbell and both drummers are incredible.
