If anyone is wondering how to make the pads cut each other... As in stop playing sound as soon as another pad is hit (to prevent overlaps when messing with different patterns), set each pad's "Out" to 1.
Great review! I bought this a few days ago. Is it an authentic SP1200 sound? No. Is it a useful sound that’s very similar? Yes! I’m a fan of it. When I insert an instance of the IK multimedia tape collection plugin (specifically the Tascam 388 emulation), it adds even more depth. Highly recommend the RX1200!

Used it for a bit in Ableton but idk if I'm still not using it correctly, but I can't map all the 3 fader options to the faders on my midi controller. I can map only one of the options (tune/decay/mix) but couldn't find a way to switch between them and still use the same faders. Also it records into a piano roll midi with notes, way less convenient than Ableton's drum rack midis that are just concise with each note named after the sample, plus they stay in separate channels that you can easily fiddle while mixing later.

too bad the filter templets don't work like you click on it and will change the sound. you have to set the filter template first then add your own samples. That sample you may was crazy. This vst look fun. I’m going to get it just because I was watching Wu-Tang on Hulu. And saw rza on this
i'd love this as a 'thru', as a 'throw it on your channel and get the sound you want'. I think the same people did this for the 950 right?
Be nice to have Pad copy function, also select multiple pad function like mpc...and attack edit to go with the decay... fuggit ad more functionality with filters.
for sure
It adds crunch but I miss some low end wormth and high end shine according to the video on their site..
Maybe you'd know what certain controls do if you read the manual? Some food for thought.
Joint is fire. Been using it for a few months.
Have you checked out the Isla s2400 drum sampler
We talked about that a few times on this channel
I tried dragging the sample from MPCX to the pads but the Pug-In keeps disappearing from the screen. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
Thoroughly impressed by your knowledge of Akai products in particular. I have a question for you. If you could only choose 1 to cover all your music needs would it be, the Force, the Mpc key 61 or the MPC X (se)???????????
I discovered the dynamic filter significantly lowers that annoying alias ring on certain sounds.
annoying or the thing the device is famous for lol. That sound on the knock of a nice kick sample is gold
When you import your own sample, is the famous aliasing still here when depitching?
Yes. Works best when you set the pad to 45 (instead of 33) and pitch down to -5
cool! can you also just run sound through it (use it as an audio fx) to use the filter? (without loading samples)
The ESPI 1200 is great plus it has its own sequencer. I don't see the big deal unless you want to use it with VSts exclusively.
It's a cool project but buggy and developer is slow 🐌 on sorting out bugs. I've had it since the beta. I prefer SP950 plugin from all emulators. And I do have SP12 Turbo and SP1200 so the only plugin close to real thing is SP950 as of today. Peace ✌
I believe there's an iOS version of this....
Just checked... Nope :(
That ish seems dead… hasnt been updated or talked about in forever
@@AlexanderDivineEmcee you mean the iSPi1200? Yes the developer is gone radio dilence..Good project but no team mlbejind just a one man operation with a " french touch" if you know what I mean 😉
@@AveMcree no iOS for SP950 but they have a Web version ( free) that does the SP1200 sound ..they stated that they are working on a complete app ...don't know how true that is. But I do use SP950 if I work in a DAW and have no access to my SP1200/Sp12 or just want to add that vlavour to longer samples ..works every time. Peace
Thanks for sharing. It's certainly good enough for $30 vs how many thousands now? lol.
It certainly has that inimitable crispiness, it sounds great. Better than the emulations on the MPCs for sure, imo >_>
I think Reason Studios just released the rack extension for this.
This is dope. Thank you. 👍🏼✌🏼🙂
too bad the filter templets don't work like you click on it and will change the sound. you have to set the filter template first then add your own samples. But its neat that you can use a midi track to go up and down the octave pre pad. Each midi channel will determine which pad you are controlling one octave for each pad, with a total of 2 to 16 to control a few pads using a 88 keyboard.
I originally learned to make beats on the SP1200 and the EPS16. I'm very curious about this.
Do you know if its possible to use with mpc one standalone mode or just controller mode i been using rx950 in my workflo for a few months now in contriller mode but laptop just died am peaking
if someone made a 1:1 midi controller front end for it, it'd be sick
They are pretty similar... I think that the RX1200 is a little more bassy... Thanks for the video.
PS: I never had an SP1200. I have a ROLAND MV8800 and I also bought an ISLA S2400 and I am happy with it! Saving money for a second S2400 but the RX1200 is very very good!
I have an S2400, why would you need more than one?
@@TheNinja94a Ιt only has 16 voices and the way I work, I need two.
This is a good sounding . Can't I get this sound setting my mp to the sp1200?
Yes you can… once again the salesman over hyping it up
I already have 12 bit hardware. It's dope for drums.
I'm about to get this!
As I couldn't find any information about it, an important question: Are all samples provided in the factory library cleared and royalty free?
Yes
I wish they would've offered some sort of seqencing within it, there are no right click functionality to copy/paste/erase etc Not sure why they just didn't make a one touch muti pitch mode! I'm comfused by the iteration they have now!
So samples actually sound different running through this vs. directly on a DAW?
Yes absolutely
yes, very
yeah its fasho a different took a regular trap hi hat and the shit sounded 90's like a mf
Ya now getting hip to this?
I bought the RE version and they gave me the link to get the VST version for free the only difference is the RE version has live sampling maybe there will be a future update
