The ending has me so heartbroken... she was sick and her mind tried to comfort her by making her believe her mama was with her.
You see this in patients near death too as their brain starts to shut down.
@@CJack14dt I had the misfortune of witnessing this first hand, recently. My grandmother fell and broke her hip in July and the complications induced a stroke that she just didn't recover from. She was talking to her mother and family that have been dead for years the night before she passed.
@@mimble Some people think it's spirits but in my experiences it just seems like a continuation of the brain shutting down systems and helps the body compensate for the gradual discomfort of the process of death.

@@mimble i honestly believe it was her family coming to take her home to heaven. My grandma died in 2019 and before she passed away she also was talking to her mom. She would say to her i am not ready to go with you. Then one night she said okay mama i am ready to go. The next day she passed away. I know sounds crazy. I also do believe the scientific method or medical theory. It just seems nice that your relatives are coming to take you to heaven.
I love that the mom was trying to help tell her the whole time to listen to the doctors, her mother (and by extension, her subconscious) knew it was a hallucination she was dealing with, it was just a matter of convincing the conscious mind
The human mind is a really curious and confusing thing. Specially when its tripping balls on ergot poison.

The brain works in many strange ways, it the most complex part of our body, that even what we know today is not the full picture. Sometimes the brain does things that go against what we know or how it reacts. In a nutshell her brain, was doing everything it can tell the body, to trust the doctors through a subconscious illusion to tell her not to worry.

yep. if your body is deficient in something it's not unusual to crave things that have that. the worse the deficiency, the worse the cravings. of course those cravings could just be because you're addicted...
Absolutely. i just hadn't heard it put quite that way: "evolved"? It's a fact, though. It's why pregnant women have "bizarre" cravings. When i'm attracted to every red sugary food on the planet, (i.e.: red popsicles, red skittles, etc.) for 5 days? i know that i'm woefully low on Vit. C and/or Iron. Tomatoes work for me. V-8 works in a pinch. You may notice this type of pattern in your own life.
My son had an intestinal virus when he was not quite 2 years old. He was in the hospital for a week on just IV fluids. When he came home, he went through probably 2 jars of pickles in 4 days. He never really ate pickles very much before that, nor after.
Thats why pregnant women have cravings. their body wants what it needs to create the child and sustain itself

I love how foreign it is to most people who work with him. A punch would get most people instantly fired, especially directed at their boss. House respects you MORE for punching him when he pushes you.

The saddest in this is that fits even more boys : more dangerous behaviors, they "know" everything better, proud to never be hurt or sick, and so on...
PS : this behavior is a tendancy mainly based on cultural gender.
Basically COVID patients in my hospital
Every episode of House:
1. Patient comes in with strange or inexplicable symptoms.
2. House messes with his team of bizarrely psychopathological racial/sexual stereotypes Wilson and/or Cuddy.
3. Patient gets worse.
4. House and team perform tests and decide on dangerous treatment.
5. Patient gets much worse (often after briefly getting better)
6. House has a crisis moment and takes lots of opioids.
7. House works it out and tries to cure the patient despite everyone else disagreeing.
8. House proves his theory correct and saves the patient.
Rinse and repeat.
(And yet I still love it!)
And it's still somehow the best show ever.
Just how we like it.
Shows how great the writers are, even with a formula we still care and are intrigued by the characters, patients, and diseases that come with them.

The end of this when she turn's out to be just imagination is kinda sad, imagine a loved one that you have known for years turn out to be just your imagination and vanish, for every, never to be seen again...... that would kill me...

On the other hand it got me think if there is something, some drug, some mushroom, anything that I could take and speak to both of my dead parents.
I’m not gonna lie the ending scene where Reena is finally correctly diagnosed and accepts the fact that her mother was dead and says goodbye to her mother’s spirit after Reena realizes she was delusional, was really heart breaking to watch, paired with that beautiful music scoring to fit the scene, it brought me to tears.

Mad respect House must've had for a guy just for his medical input even though he just clocked him in the face. Wanted him to stay cuz he was useful and helpful to the cause of the patients diagnosis and treatment.
I think its not really about respect, but mostly him being able to take shit back, especially when its provoked by the shit hes slinging. in other episodes he admits to getting into drunken brawls and getting his ass whipped, "not a big deal".

Its not the first time
He knew he had it coming, he was trying his best to provoke him. Though he wished he didn't get hit because then he lost his bet with Cameron.
He didn't fire him at this point because punching him isn't worth firing here. It's not like the guy went crazy violent, House was just testing him and was even surprised the guy punched him. That also made House respect the guy more, he thinks badly of him because of his religious beliefs, but House likes people who stand up for themselves.
That's really cool special effect with the necklace.
They just reversed the cut where they removed it from her neck and composited it on top of a still frame of her neck with the necklace fully on. They could hve been more creative, but hey, whatever works works!

This episode broke me down in tears so badly. A mother and daughters love can be so pure that even when on her death bed she could have been tripping about anyone but it was her mama the heart wanted.
Myself and my elderly mam is beyond close like two peas in a pod so this really hit me in my heart sooo much.
It also reminded me of when my granddad had a burst bowel after surgery i went to see him and he kept calling me his mother sadly he passed less than a week later but everyone was like "it was just his meds you look nothing like his mother" fast forward 18y and even my own mam burst into tears one day because she said how much i look and act like my great grandmother. I see it as if in those few moments it brought him comfort then that's 100% a okay with me.

Its sad that she was hallucinating the whole time her mother but the fact that her mother was the key to helping her find help till she left when she finally got help. it’s symbolic and also meaningful in a way but is interesting also.
The camera panning to Olivia's smile after Amber says "I hate Thirteen" is wonderful. So much terrific use of facial expressions & eye movements over the course of this show - lovely acting and/or directing! 😎

That last part was... I don't know, my father past away and when i was a kid i used to see him in my dreams but... After i started to see him awake, one day before sleep i saw him and i just say goodnight... After that night i never saw him again.
I don't care if no one believe that... I know it wasn't his spirit... It was just a post trauma after his death... But that experience was real.

I kinda believe that every once in a while people will see a spirit. My mom told me once, shortly after her grandpa died, she was sleeping on her grandmother's couch and she woke up, and saw him sitting on the chair in front of the couch. He smiled at her, gave her a nod like he always did and then disappeared. Then she went back to sleep.
I've only ever had dreams of my grandpa when he died, used to be a lot when I was a kid. Then I didn't dream of him anymore until I got pregnant with my first daughter, then I had a dream that we were sitting in a restaurant, talking about the baby.
They need to make a pre-House M.D. series where a younger House is in Med school and doing practicum. That would be an awesome series!

The second I realized that the mom wasn't real at 6:08, I falt out started bawling, it really hurts to realize the whole time that a person isn't real and never was really hurts, even if I have no clue who they are. I was even in denial for a bit until it showed the doctor's vision and there was never anyone there...then the pendant merged with the one already on her neck and it felt worse.

Ergot is a fungus that grows on rye and is originally what we used to make lsd from (not sure if we still do). Many a year ago (before industrial revolution) most bread was made from rye in europe, but its quite heat resistant and sometimes survive the baking process. Europeans were also a shit load hairier back then aswell. Rabies was also quite prevalent. So put these all together: farmer eats bread for dinner, farmer starts tripping balls, goes outside and see one of his farmhands (quite large fella due to manual labor) who has rabies. What the farmer sees due to lsd coursing through his system is a giant hairy beast with red (bloodshot) eyes, foamy mouth and aggressive behaviour. . . Thats a fucking werewolf lol. Theres also a decent argument stating this is what started the salem witch trials aswell. . . People tripping balls and seeing 'witches' casting spells and people 'feeling evil auras'.
Oh, and ergot poisoning also had a 50/50 chance of killing you outright. . . The joys of no healthcare or medical science lol

@randomguy8196 If you actually study the Bible it becomes clear not all of it is supposed to be taken literally. The chapter songs were literally just old songs people use to sing. I am not religious at all, but as ones understanding increases, the less it needs to be taken literally.
Typically the people taking it all literally have never even read The Bible, and only pull from parts of it to reinforce whatever it is they want to justify at the time.

What gets me about "House" is the quaint setting of 8 doctors all working together on 1 patient doing whatever test that strikes their fancy. The reality being one doctor is seeing 40 patients a day and none of them have insurance that will cover anything more than a CBC!
yeah Amber is right, this episode is freaking me out. what if, my dad comforting me day and night if im at the hospital, for weeks, and doctor said your father is not there, its just hallucination. it is your own subconscious mind creating the hallucinations to comfort myself. dude it is heartbroken horror show
i always had a fear of surgery but now that ive watched so many of these videos its slowly getting more bearable
I Lost My mama when i was 10 she died to protect me and then i started seeing her and she spoke to me just like in this and at THE end i just started crying mumbling mama over and over and when i woke Up she ws gone.. its been a year.. and i Still have not seen her agin im 14 now and i can relate so badly
What she said was totally accurate when I was depressed I ate buckets load of shrimp and found out that shrimp can help depression as well my brain felt groggy and I had bad memory that’s when I drank lots of green tea and found out green tea helps with memory

There's a recent video showing a guy leading 4 other people into trying ancient substances our ancestors used to get high... Turns out most of them taste truly awful, and give you bad trips. Only in recent centuries did we figure out how to make effective trip drugs that aren't also some kind of poisons... Vomiting, sweats, bad symptoms and maybe some version of "high"... No thanks.
I don’t think you understand how various hallucinogens work. Ergot is what LSD was developed from. Stop thinking like a drug user and view it from the scientific POV... MANY substances cause psychotropic and hallucinogenic effect. This isn’t high as in (ohhhh I feel good this is cool)... it means it affects the firing of neurons in the brain altering perception...
