I sort of agree, but if you have sleep apnea you just need to lose weight quit being so fat. Last time I checked it was like 85% of people who had sleep apnea were obese. I think sleep tracking is one of the most useless things unless you have some kind of mental, psych disorder.
@@greuju It's 70%, not 85%. And if you stop breathing 5+ times/hour when you sleep, you'll probably be tired. News flash - when people are very tired, they eat more and exercise less. For me, it was 50+ times/hour. I lost a lot of weight once it was treated. But I still have sleep apnea, because the structures of the muscles and cranium are major components in sleep apnea severity.
It would be interesting to see other cooking and heating bed options other than eight sleep. Not all do tracking, but they do heating and cooling without the subscription and price.
Thanks! This has been on my mind too. I still need to see which ones are available over here in Europe as well. I saw that Shervin from Shervin Shares already had some other devices that seemed cool (pun intended)

Something I would love to see on your testing of sports watches: a bit more data on the GPS accuracy. You mainly test speed of signal acquisition, and how close the GPS tracks to to actual routes you take. For me, those don't worry me unless they're dramatically wrong. What I want accurately measured for my running is the correct distance and the correct elevation change. For example, I have two watches I run with all the time: a Huawei Runner GT, and a Suunto Spartan Sport. The Huawei seems to measure those most accurately; I run parkrun every week, on measured 5K courses, and the Huawei is usually very close to it, and the elevation measured matches up pretty well with other people's stats. By contract, the Suunto is usually slightly low on distance (typically about 2%), but the elevation is terribly wrong, typically by 30 to 70%. I believe it's a software issue rather than hardware, but still, it's so tiring correcting the elevation in Strava every time.
It would be great if you did fitness band reviews. Screenless. I love wearing analog watches and want to wear something to track steps and some fitness info
Could b please rank the watches according to thier accuracy. I know apple is on top. But still it would assist a lot of people in buying the right watch other than apple
Props to you for talking about the hair loss. I decided to not fight my dna and just let it go. Its nice to hear experiences from those who take the medicines though to make it less scary for others to consider asking their doctor about.
I got an oura ring 3 on Black Friday to compare against my apple watch but just watching this now 😅 Got an Apple Watch last Black Friday for sleep tracking based on your testing. The sleep data has been fairly different so far. The Apple Watch doesn’t seem to be tracking my deep sleep well. I’m thinking it might not be strapped on tight enough? Either way I was surprised to see the disparity between the two.
Hey I appreciate all of the work you do. I have had chronic insomnia for years, and I was wondering what device you would recommend to most accurately track my awake time? I don't really care about the sleep stages--I mainly care about how much time I am awake. Thanks!
i noticed that every time i wore a watch to bed to monitor my quality of sleep, i slept badly, so i stopped wearing the watch and there was an improvement.
This is one reason why I haven't pulled the trigger i already have sleep issues and I am a petite woman, so most of these are way too big. I fear that I won't be able to sleep with it. Ugh.
Hi Rob, once again a great review, thanks! I've noticed a problem with the Charge 6. Over time, the cover of the sensors becomes cloudy. On two devices, the problem occurred after about two or three weeks. Do you think this affects the quality of the data? I have written to fitbit, but they are only interested in the fact that this is not a reason for a return and I have not received an answer to the actual question despite following up.
I’m a beach volleyball player and I’m not sure any of the activities you use for testing heart rate are analogous to that kind of activity. Would love to see how these devices perform when playing vb, soccer, or any other sport that involves a lot of arm movements or changes of direction.
Great testing really useful. My advice on hair loss is to just shave it off !!! 10mm or something. You will feel so much better. Bruce Willis Jason Stalham lead the way 💪👍🙂
Hey Rob! I've been following you for a few months now and would like to give you a big thumbs up for your videos. I'm currently considering buying the Garmin chest strap (HRM Pro Plus) as I have a Garmin watch and can therefore experience the full scope of features. I would therefore be very happy if you could test the accuracy of the Garmin HRM Pro Plus chest strap. It would also be a good idea to compare it with the H10 from Polar. If you are reading this message, I would very much appreciate a reply from you as well as a way to contact you more easily. Kind regards and all the best, Tom
4:38 Thanks for providing more data on some of the previously-tested devices, in particular the Pixel Watch 2! It's a pity that even the best-performing Android smartwatch is still so far off from the Apple watches, but good to know nonetheless. The phenomenal result of the preliminary 1 day's worth of data was unfortunately too good to be true.
Since you tested the Withings Sleep Pad in almost 3 years ago March 2021 and it's similar in concept to the Eight Sleep but much more affordable, maybe the Withings warrants a re-test with your current methodology?
Please would you test the new Withings ScanWatch 2 or ScanWatch Nova. Really wanna see if the extra sensor has improved it to a good device, as the battery life is the best of all these watches.
Are you aware that some polysomnography sleep studies are now tracking CO2 via transcutaneous monitoring? Do you know of any consumer device to do this? Do you have an opinion on how useful CO2 tracking is to overall health? Why do you need CO2 if you already have o2
@@TheQuantifiedScientist - would love to see what you learn. I've been using both for a while (Whoop on and off, Apple Watch consistently). The biggest difference in the data seems to be reflected in my recovery scores. Strain is almost identical. For me, Whoop does a better job (or at least more consistent with Eight Sleep) picking up deep sleep. I'd be happy to share my data or other thoughts if helpful.
Regarding Finasteride please be careful and watch a video about irreversible sexual neurologic symptoms discussed by Peter Attia with Mohit Khera in the podcast from 2h:18min. Video is called "Men’s Sexual Health: why it matters, what can go wrong, and how to fix it"
Thanks for sharing! Yes , this is what I meant by the controversial issues. However, I do think given the number of men taking this, this is a rather rare side-effect and one needs to balance that against whatever psychological effects you personally experience because of hair loss (as “unimportant “ as this might be, it is a reality that effects many men)
I used Finasteride for 10 months and developed severe physiological and neurological side-effects that have not subsided after I have stopped taking the medication 15 months ago. This phenomenon is known as "Post-Finasteride Syndrome" and there is a rising number of men affected by it. Why it might be rare, its effects are devastating for the ones affected. I appreciate that you mention that there is potential for side-effects and that you mention for example the Huberman-podcast about hair loss in which also Post-Finasteride Syndrome is mentioned. However, I am quite disappointed that you use your platform for advertizing Finasteride. I find it odd, that as someone who is usually putting objective data-analysis first, you only speak about your personal experience with these drugs and do not provide any data in regards to the safety of these medications. As someone who is a big fan of your usual content, I wanted to share that with you.
Great video! Love to see your emphasis on testing accuracy of these various devices. With the demise of the Dreem 2 headband, have you considered testing the Muse headband?
Around minute 13 you're talking about heart rate measurement with the whoop strap. You call out the fact that some of the details are lost. I think that perhaps some kind of averaging algorithm (perhaps a low pass filter) is being employed by whoop or Strava. I say this because you can also see a slight time lag between the orange line and the cyan colored polar line.
You included activities as sitting and chores in your polar H10 comparison to ECG. Would you recommend to buy H10 if I want to track my calories during the day? I assume that H10 would be the best for tracking calories. I'm not big fan of watches that's why I'm thinking of H10 so I know my energy expenditure.
hey man I was just thinking to myself that I hadnt seen one of your videos in quite awhile. so I looked you up and none of your videos showed up in the list? I had to use another device to send my phone a link that wasnt logged into my youtube to be able to find you. youtube had also unsubscribed me from your channel. how bizarre? I subscribed again though dont worry and glad to see you are still doing this.
Really helpful video. The issue I have is that I somehow cannot justify paying for products with mandatory subscription (Whoop, Oura, 8Sleep), can anyone sell me on those vs. just buying Apple Watch (as it seems it has excellent sleep and HR tracking)?
My issue with the Apple or Samsung Watch is short battery life. I can't always get through the day and night on one charge. If it does, I have to charge in the morning. I'm always choosing what time I don't have it. The fitbit charge stays charged 5 days, but doesn't do everything the Apple or Samsung Watch does. My husband has Apple & I have Samsung plus a fitbit. But my fitbit charge 5 stopped charging after 1 year, and that's ridiculous. Maybe an Oura ring for sleep while my Apple charges at night?
Hi Rob. Thanks for the very informative reviews. One aspect that I notice is not always prevalent is the feature of detecting AFIB. What would be the best devices to capture good overall meteics but also has the ability to detect AFIB?
I'm in the market for a new wrist HRM, is the graph that can be seen at 15:30 available anywhere in a more easily readable format, such as a table with the best watches at the top?
Hope you do a review of the CMF by Nothing watch. I'm trying to decide between that one and Google Pixel 2, and your reviews are the only ones I trust :-)
would be cool to see you test the Mobvoi Ticwatch 5 Pro, Amazfit Balance, Amazfit Cheetah Pro, and perhaps even the low budget fitness/smartwatch by North Edge (the CrossFit 3)
Great reviews and awesome scientific tests. I was wondering have you tested some non popular branded watches? In particular I was looking at the Koalahealth Smart watchs. Seems to have more features than the more popular brands. I know some of the health features are not FDA approved, but my main features will be ECG, SPO2 (on demand), heart rate (continuous), Long battery life (there's no time to charge in the morning and evening with sleep feature), Bluetooth calls all a must have features. GPS is a plus. Currently using the Fitbit sense, but no SPO2 when I need it. I have short of breath sometimes, so it's important. Thank you
My Amazfit GTS4 had an update that improved the HR algorithm and in my opinion it improved A LOT. Running and swimming shows results that feel much more accurate, maybe it's worth it to retest it?
I'd be interested in a comparison of how well different devices track heart rate when just doing daily activities around the house. I was told to keep an eye out for a really high sustained hr when not doing anything strenuous. I have a polar variety, but it's so focused on workouts that it's not ideal for my needs. It's a shame because it seemed to be such a good balance of price, comfort, and accuracy. It's also small and not on my wrist which makes it ideal for doing messy things with my hands.
Apple watch 7+ are very good at sleep tracking per your data. Do you have sleep accuracy data for them when worn on other places such as upper calf muscle where there is much better contact to skin.
Dear Rob (@TheQuantifiedScientist): I saw that you have Withings scales in the background. May I ask whether you can recommend the withings body scan scale for segmental body composition measurement since it is quite pricey. Thanks in advance!
Hi Rob, an old subscriber here! Fantastic video as always. I have one request; can you please review the Amazfit Band 7? Because I have kept that in my mind. My main focus point is fitness and health data accuracy.
Really good video Rob... Not sure if it's true that you are not sponsored but anyway video is really helpful, also all of your videos and the information they provide... Still waiting for the hw watch 4 pro review... Best devices are also the most expensive 😢
Thanks so much! And, not sponsored and no influence from the company, but with affiliate links for the products I like (so there is a financial incentive). As a personal rule, I only enter affiliate programs if I truly believe the product is good (but no way for me to prove this to you directly). Also, I always add Amazon links (even if the product is bad), and people can even support if they buy anything at all on Amazon. So, in that sense there is a bit less bias Incentivization on my side again. But, I get why it might seem that way.
Have you ever seen the morpheus m7 chest strap? It looks like an up graded polar h10 but with more app features for training (and more price haha). Id be interested to know what you think
Hey. Most android users like me are interested in the Pixel watch 2, AND the galaxy watch 6. Galaxy watch 6 just recived it's 2nd major update, and for me, it has been super accurate in comparison to the fitbit charge 6 on my other arm. But seeing that your more qualified, I'd highly recommend giving the galaxy watch 6 AND the pixel watch 2 another round of testing.
Love you videos dude! Out of curiosity - will you be testing any smart scales at some point as I'd really like to know how accurate their metrics are? Cheers
do you have a favorite app for reviewing ECG data on the H10 for apple? I noticed after buying that the garmin ECG data app is not available on apple app store... :-/

Dag Rob, heb je toevallig een review gepland over de Ultrahuman Ring Air? Die lijkt me wel interessant als algemene gezondheidstracker.
Does your dreem 2 headband still work? Mine doesn’t work since they were taken over in September.
Nope it doesn’t… there is a whole discord server of people complaining, and Beacon just ignores consumers unfortunately
Really helpful video. The issue I have is that I somehow cannot justify paying for products with mandatory subscription (Whoop, Oura, 8Sleep), can anyone sell me on those vs. just buying Apple Watch (as it seems it has excellent sleep and HR tracking)?
Yes, subscriptions are becoming a normal thing, which isn’t great…
My issue with the Apple or Samsung Watch is short battery life.
@TheQuantifiedScientist can you test sunnto race? I'm missing sunnto watches. Can you add sunnto race?
Could you give an sleep tracking update on the Pixel watch 2 since you only used data from one night in your review?
There is already some data in this video😊, but more to come
Hi Rob. Thanks for the very informative reviews.
One aspect that I notice is not always prevalent is the feature of detecting AFIB. What would be the best devices to capture good overall meteics but also has the ability to detect AFIB?
Pls make review on ultrahuman ring and oura ring. Tnxs
I haven't compared them exactly but what does AG1 give you that Huel doesn't?
I'm in the market for a new wrist HRM, is the graph that can be seen at 15:30 available anywhere in a more easily readable format, such as a table with the best watches at the top?
You're amazing reviewer 👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥
Glad you think so! 😊
Any plans to test ultrahuman air yet?
Hope you do a review of the CMF by Nothing watch. I'm trying to decide between that one and Google Pixel 2, and your reviews are the only ones I trust :-)
huge difference in price, there is no comparison
6:20 Hello, would you please do a comparison of the "Oura ring" vs the " Ultrahuman Ring AIR" or a straight review?
can you review the ultrahuman ring as well compared to the whoop and the oura ring
would be cool to see you test the Mobvoi Ticwatch 5 Pro, Amazfit Balance, Amazfit Cheetah Pro, and perhaps even the low budget fitness/smartwatch by North Edge (the CrossFit 3)
what is the best value for money that is not much expensive
Awesome as usual!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video Rob, i think after see all your reviews the best option now are the Fitbit Charge 6 because for 100$ it's very good
Hi! Indeed Fitbit also has good sleep tracking 😊
You are goated for these series ..
🐐
Thank you
Agree Huel is very good.
My Amazfit GTS4 had an update that improved the HR algorithm and in my opinion it improved A LOT. Running and swimming shows results that feel much more accurate, maybe it's worth it to retest it?
It improved compared to what? A hunch you have?
I'm super curious about the ice ring! The price is really interesting
Can Polar H10 connect to Garmin Instinct 2 to display HR?
Would like to see the Ultrhuman ring and the upcoming Samsung ring
Please make Amazfit band 7 sleep and heart review.
Thanks in advance!
please review the HUAWEI WATCH FIT SE they said it has Pulse Wave Arrythmia Analysis
Please talk about ticwatch pro 5
Where i can find camparison table in better quality??
Pixel watch shows HRV, so i give that already a win.
How is the sleep tracker for galaxy watch 6?
Hello, could you please test the CMF smartwatch?.✌️
Hi! I tried to contact them, no reply so far ☹️
@@TheQuantifiedScientist Thank you ✌️
Id be interested in how the top performers compare to eachother side by side instead of against a mutual device.
Please suggest budget fitness band for walking and heart rate monitor
huawei watch special edition for cycling. is it ok?
Love you videos dude! Out of curiosity - will you be testing any smart scales at some point as I'd really like to know how accurate their metrics are? Cheers
do you have a favorite app for reviewing ECG data on the H10 for apple? I noticed after buying that the garmin ECG data app is not available on apple app store... :-/
Can you do a review for the Ultrahuman Ring
Hello, for when an analysis of the ultrahuman ring?
Do you know by any chance if Garmin Vívoactive 5 has the same sleep tracking software as Venu 3?
when video on budget $69 NOTHING (CMF) watch coming ?
Are you worried about lead in protein powder and other supplements?
I did not read up on this honestly
Hey M8. Do you gonna make any test of amazfit balance soon?
Thanks , Always waiting and watching sir, and waiting xiomi band 8 pro pls if possible
