I like how her first task of the day is to bring coffee to an attending :)
Sebastien Leblanc yup
And the fact that the school is advertising it like “this is what we expect of all our students”
I think this is tradition of sorts since a lot of residencies have something similar regarding bringing coffee
@Kj_mast_er I was waiting for someone to say this 😂
@@holyknight9507 it is
When you want to be a doctor, but you're scared to take an ap test for biology tomorrow. Hope future is good :). Came here for motivation lol.
Shirsha, we hope you have good luck on your test tomorrow!
Johns Hopkins Medicine oh wattttt
same hahah
Shirsha did you pass it ?:)
how did it go?
I kept thinking while watching this is don't decide to go into the medical field because of Grey's Anatomy. You won't be meredith Grey. Real life is so so different.
Court O sadly u are correct😂😫
I have more than 20+ family members that are doctors I’ve always wanted to be one
Sometimes, it doesn't need to be a big reason. It's a dream, which might become a goal. You don't know until you try it :)
Ofc I'm not gonna Meredith Grey I'm gonna be Cristina yang 🤞😉😂
I imagine I would be as cool as House.
For those looking for motivation, I made it to med school, y’all can too. Keep studying, never lose focus, and work hard. Sounds cliche but it’s the truth! Love
Congratulations...sometimes it's really hard to keep up with the load of study but always remember it's always seems impossible until it's done ..I'm in my final year of med school and it was so tough to go through it and i lost hope many times I thought this wasn't for me and I'm here now if I can do it and other did it so u are
@hailey My father is an anesthesiologist. He’s been practicing medicine for 28 years. He told me “If you love what you are doing and want to do it, the hard work doesn’t seem so bad”
thank you for the motivation! i'm a freshman in high school but practicing medicine has been a lifelong dream of mine :)
@@chicken_landटभठपभपृशष
omg thank u for motivation im thinking of being EM doctor and i'm 14 still. Hope you're doing GREAT! :D
this makes me so excited to become a doctor but sadly im still a highschool junior so i have a long way to go :/
edit: i'm now a sophmore in college and i'm an art major. i'm planning on becoming a graphic designer & an illustrator. art has always been my passion in life but at one point i rejected it due to multiple reasons which is also when i was really interested in medicine & wrote this comment
min yoongi Me too #PrayForUs :D I'm thinking about IT, but ... I'm afraid that I wouldn't be able to learn so much as doctors have to.. (sorry for my english grammar mistakes - I'm still learning :D) BTW I just relise you're ARMY yas ... Me too *highfive*
Or.. I hope you're ARMY because of your name.. If you're not ... Well .. I just made total idiot from myself on thé internet .. Which one it? it xD
im in the exact same position

Stick with it!! You won't regret it.
The dream.
000 00 the mcdreamy 😍
000 00 good luck!
At least we know some fucking grammar
I KNOW!
cambodiantunechiVEVO are you mad that you'll be a boring desk job while we have a real career and make a difference?
Being a doctor always a dream for me... But now it's too late. Respect every doctor.
its never to late
She's right, it's never too late. There are people who retired from other careers that went into medicine. Just play your cards right, get into a good program, be willing to put the work in, and you'll be a doctor. Not to mention, our country is in desperate need of primary care physicians, and we're opening up new schools all around the country at the moment, so you might want to re-evaluate your situation and give it a shot.
EDIT: That's assuming you're in the States. I don't know the laws and policies in other nations.
Which country is your country? Where are you opening new medical shools?
Liza Vörös I was referring to the United States. Statistics show that there is a shortage of primary care physicians in the United States, and within the last several years, there have been many new schools that were opening in order to combat the shortage. But there are also many schools in the Caribbean that are tied in with American teaching programs so that the students can come to the US and practice medicine also. Were you looking into an American university or a Caribbean school?
Takes a crap-load of time and hard work, but if you put your nose to the grind-stone, you can probs do it.
Thank you so much to the Johns Hopkins staff. You have always been there to support me and my family and embraced us in hard times. We will be forever great if of your services and the care that you give.
Thank you so much, a great full patient and friend
Thank you for your kind words.
@@JohnsHopkinsMedicine Go to hell for all the families you have ruined
Hopefully, I'm going to be headed there in a couple years. Thinking about either being in Emergency Medicine or Infectious Disease. But, you never know what'll interest you once you're actually practicing.
Any Updates???
V finity yeah things changed. I ended up enlisting in the army under a 4 year scholarship, while also attending a military college. I’m in a 4 year nursing program so I can be an trauma nurse for the Army as an officer. I originally wanted to be a doctor, but there were so many opportunities available to me when I got out of college I just couldn’t turn them down. I’m happy where I am though!
Dr.Brenner and Dr.Caneron are the best. I had two open heart surgeries here and they did them.
hope u are ok

Beautiful, just beautiful. Planning on getting a Ph.D and M.D. I know it is going to take a lot of time and effort but it'll be worth it. Science is the best thing ever created by human kind.
almost 14 and this video makes my heart so warm. i can’t wait to be a surgeon. my mom always tells me when i say my future is dull that it was so broght but anytime i say that the light turns off and it isnt easy to turn it back on
Shoutout to everyone working towards their dreams! I’m just starting my bachelors and hoping to come back and share good news in a few years. Good luck to everyone and God bless😊
This seems like a amazing residency program!
I think that THIS video was very well put together. It gave a succinct, yet comprehensive glimpse of this resident 's day. 👍🏾👩⚕️
Thank you, Omar.
They are heroes!!! Thank you for everything you do!!!
College freshman here. I have a long road ahead of me. I think my dream is to be an emergency neurosurgeon. For now I just have to worry about GPA and MCAT, though.
sebastian cuello Go to American University of Antigua. It's accredited, faster and cheaper.
go to american university of antigua if you don't care about not having a residency and throwing 300k+ at a useless Caribbean MD degree
Do you want to be a neurosurgeon because of the money.
To save lives, and to make money. Whatever it takes to motivate you.
@@pplrjustppl What was your point of saying that? He acknowledged he has a long road ahead of him.
i dont see these many smiles(of the doctors) everyday..the whole day is filled with lot of tension and loads of work..ultimately the smile on the patient's face gives the real satisfaction
My passion for medicine and saving people from themselves has always been ingrained in me up until the pandemic. It taught me the true value of fear and sacrifice, and made me push away my dreams of being a physician or a pharmacist so strongly it threw me into a bout of my own health predicaments and forced me to look at the few things I enjoyed with my entire being. This comment wont really end happily, I'm still working through the fear and deciding where I want to head. All I'm going to say is- if you solve your problem, the solution is your purpose.
Jacqueline Snyder was it scary at first? I’m 13 and they’re doing junior intern I’m just scared cause I’m socially awkward 😭
At age 30 when studying engineering in a world renowned college , for a moment I stop and thinking I wanted to become a Doctor ?
seeing this while being in first year of med school , , so inspiring , having something to look forward to
Did you graduate?
@@vos8309 one year left :D
I know...I couldn't get into MBBS (for some reason) ...but God has planted me into Nursing which is the most Noble care to be given! I'll become a Good nurse for Humanity and for the Glory of God! 😊
A dedicated job to serve life... I like it.
I graduated med school for over a year now, spent most of my time exploring different specialties in order to find my calling, but i always felt like i enjoyed them all.. so picking a specific one was very intimidating to me.. i recently began an attachment at an A&E department and i found love, love is an understatement i really adore this specialty now.. Finally a practice that caters to my broad curiosity, it encompasses everything and the outcomes are immediate.. there's not a day in the emergency department that you don't learn a thing or two.. sometimes the lesson is medical in nature, and sometimes it is just a lesson in life that you'll never forget! .. this video has motivated me even more into exploring EM in depth and appreciating it more.. I really think this could be the one! (specialty)
Thank you for sharing with us, Dr. Mohamed Taha. We're so happy you loved this video.
My pleasure! :')
Always Will be My dream, hope one day....

Thank you to all those that treated me for the staph problems I wouldn't have made it with you. God Bless you always
It's always been my dream since pre school to become a doctor. I really dedicated my self to science and giving my best shot in this subject till High School. Going to College (pre med School) is really expensive here in the Ph. My parents wanted me to take Business Course (since its cheaper). But me as a kid who wanted to become a doctor insisted and made a way to pursue pre med school and it worked. So i had a 50 percent scholarship and it was really a big help for my college tuition. On my first year, it was really hard for me since i dont have friends whom i can share with my problems in school and i was really sad that i sucked. But still i managed to be on the cut for my scholarship. Second yr was really hard for me. I struggled a lot since my sister came back from US from internship and she had to finish her last year in college back here in Philippines. It was really hard for me since there's the two of us in college and she has to be the priority since she's graduating and i am on my second year. Due to a lot of stress i didnt make it to the cut and lost my scholarship for third year. During my 3rd year i had a thought to give up my dream to become a doctor since seeing my parents strugling with my pre med how about when i study medicine which cost a lot. So i wasnt at my best when i was in third year and i almost got droped for some of my subjects for being tardy. I was so blessed that God has given me a chance to enter my internship/4th year/ last year in college. It's still really hard for me since some of my Clinical instructors are my teachers in third year. They always looked down in me because i was so bad when i was in third year but im still giving my best during internship. Some have seen my competence and growth to prove them and gain their trust but sad to say they still look at me as a bad student juat like when i was on my 3rd year. It's been really tough. They're the one who rate us for our grades and i was so shocked for having 82 percent which i guess i deserve more since im doing well on my exams and for those who didnt do well on exams some got 88 and above (and most of those students got 50 and below on the exams since there are only few of us passed the exams) i'm not boasting my self and being bitter. I was just so sad that i always got a passing score sometimes a high score and highest scorer in some of the exams but i really dont know where did they took my grade and what are their basis. I asked them and they just say this and that. And at that time i didnt say about comparing my performance because i know it would offend someone and i just stopped in there. What i did was, i told my self to continue studying even if its unfair because it's for me to gain knowledge and grades will never define my performance and who i am because i know in my self that i am better and i will just nail the board examination. Now that i passed the board examination with integrity, i am really happy that God guided me althroughout my journey and pre med is just a stepping stone and i had more to conquer. And now as a fresh graduate and board passer. I am looking for a job to raise funds for my dream to pursue medicine in the best med school which is John Hopkins. This School gave me motivation and bringing the best in me to reach my Goal to become a Good Doctor.
God bless you dear
Any updates
Thank you for sharing and always follow your dreams 😊
Can't wait to go medical college and make my parents proud ❤
Getting your life into medicine is a blessing from the Lord. Not everyone cannot get it but if you in it, praise the Lord. No matter what kind of profession you are in, but being a medical practitioner is worth it.
Great material and big responsibilities. Thanks
soooo she sees her son only in the morning? that's sad :(
if u think being a emergency medicine physcian is bad, being a general surgeon is worse.
Jay Shah why
@@uditapericharla there is much medical logistics that go behind it but, you are pretty much waking up at 4AM everyday and can easily make ur way into long hour shifts. Also being on call is much more common since it's general surgery, and its not specialized surgery, so you have to deal with the common surgerys that you see in the hospital. I'm not a med student nor a resident, you can look at the numbers, you won't get a good income considering how many hours you work n are on call, and also the general surgeons lifestyle fits best for people who love to suffer n enjoy the process rather than follow their passion( not always true, but a sterotype).
Emergeny Med has a more flexible schedule and has great pay for a physcian. Neverthe less, it's hard to become one.
@John Wayne ? There are a lot of other fields that have many flexible and reasonable hours. For example, Radiology and Anesthesiology.
@@shahsjay general surgery residents are masochists

Literally the only reason I'm watching this is to figure out if I acc want to be a surgeon or if I just want to be in greys anatomy... 😂

Grey's anatomy had lots of disturbing sexual scene which is not suitable for kids in general. Is good that the viewer discretion message is presented before the show is on. people with school aged kids should be mindful of those.
So incredibly inspired. Hope to be a future Blue Jay. :)
You guys are a hero's.
Excellent video! I wish I had something like this when I first set out!
I'll be working here, no doubt about it, just some more years, lemme finish studying!
I am inspired
This is my dream place. I would love to work here. Awesome.
I am a college freshman. My current dream is to become a neurosurgeon. In four years I will update you guys on the medical school I got into. In another four, the specialty I chose. In another four, whether I feel fulfilled. At the end of my journey, I will be at least 31 as I am 19 now. Hopefully my passion bears fruit that will change the world.

Thanks Great Information!
I loved it ❤ I'am a Paediatrics resident😍
they look worn out and dead inside
it shouldn't be that way though. i wouldn't want a worn out tired sleepy doctor working on me as I lay helpless. more room for error. The system has to change. something has to give. too many doctors are burned out and dying.
They're not.
That’s the impression I got when I interviewed at this residency program last fall for EM... they ended up very low on my rank list. Residents seemed very overworked and unhappy.
@H Flores really? i've known so many medical professionals who stay med professionals because it's what they love. nurses don't work as much as they do for money because God knows they don't get paid much. it sounds like maybe you need a change because I promise you, patients know the difference between helping them for the money and helping them because they love their job.
@H Flores then they probably should. no one wants a healthcare provider who doesn't honestly want to help them.
Who else is here because of greys anatomy...?!

you have. work hard.
You don't have to be an intelligent or smart person to become a doctor! You just have to work hard😊
I was a below average high school student making C’s well into freshman year of college. Now I practice neurosurgery in South Georgia. Work. Ethic. It is all you need to be successful in this field. Good luck.
Innate intelligence is only a small part of being a doctor. The rest is hard work.
