I use the Cane Creek eeSilk+ seatpost, but went with the Redshift stem, as you can flip it from -6 to +6 deg but switching around the elastomers internally.

Another good reason to avoid integrated, 1-piece cockpits.

@@BrianRPaterson yep not a fan of one piece bar/stem. I have one on only one of my bikes. I don’t think I will get another one

Very interesting George look forward to seeing the build vids and future ride experiences of this stem.. great you can lockout to.. I had a Redshift on my gravel bike and found it made annoying sort of clicking noises so went back to normal stem.. Pete 🚴😊👍

That’s interesting Pete. How did it feel when you rode it though? Could you feel some shock absorption? How much deflection did the Redshift claim?

Mine was the same due to the Locktite on one of the internal bolts perishing. I replaced the Locktite and haven't had any issues since

Just got the redshift stem. Definitely longer stem is better bec “suspension” comes from deflection at the pivot point, only way to get most deflection is to get your weight out on the drops or at least the hoods, from others who have tried both (look @ bikesauce review, explains the physics pretty well.) I’ll let you know if you’d like, trying it myself first time this weekend

    Hello George,
I have been riding the lockable one for a few months. The lock does not lock the unit out, it just stiffens it. After a couple of rides I found it too bouncy with the stiff and ordered the extra stiff elastomer, which is not included in the pack. That one is great and I seldom use the lockout now. I am about 175 lbs and wanted to get rid of the trail chatter from rocks and bumpy terrain. If you order one of these stems I recommend including the extra stiff one so they will cover the shipping.

@@frankmaresca7252 I understand the switch to do what is printed on it “soft firm” I am new to this stem, so I want to make sure that I understand the dots correctly. This particular stem came with all of the dots filled in. Is that the firmest elastomer?

@SeeYouUpTheRoad the unit comes with soft, medium and firm. The extra firm is not included. I bought and installed the extra firm.
