This video was so wonderful. II felt so emotional when you had the last family meal before your husband and son returned to the USA. How wonderful is that together with all you have learnt about the Italian culture. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤❤❤❤❤

I was a bit emotional that day too, it was truly an incredible experience! The good thing is that with modern communication, I never feel that far away. While it doesn't beat being in their physical presence, it helps me feel connected.

What a great video today I loved every minute of it! What a beautiful Thanksgiving you had there with your cousins! I hope to find mine there one day! That was so cool to see your cousin who is 103 years old talking to your family at home on face time!! How cool was that!? I loved your analogy of how you looked up at the night sky and thought about other moms who said good bye to their husband's as they left their hometowns and villages for a "better" life in the US. That's exactly the same story of my ancestors, I think I told you my great grandmother was born on that ship along with her twin brother on their journey to New Orleans to meet up with my great great grandfather who opened the first shoe store in the French Quarter in the mid 1800's where my grandfather was born. My great great grandmother gave birth to twins on a ship out at sea, the trip took 2+ months due to bad weather she didn't even know she was pregnant with twins when she left Palermo and had just married my great great grandfather before he left for the US. It's mind boggling when we really think about how far we've come in just a mere 100 and 25 years... Your video was great and I loved learning more about your and hubby, congrats on the long marriage, and the fact y'all still like each other! 😃 Also that's so cool about not filling the glasses or cups, I've always done that, I guess I now know why, it's in my blood!! Anyway hoping your Christmas was wonderful ours was fantastic and it was as usual, over too soon... So much prep and cooking in my kitchen for days prior... Then the clean up..🙇 glad your pinky is better, I'm a tough old broad too, but a couple years ago I slammed my left pinky in my barn door window, it'll never be the same again, oh damn that hurt! Have a wonderful week and thanks again for sharing this beautiful journey of yours and taking all of us inquiring minds along with... Ciao and Happy New Year, 2025! 🎉 Annette

I'm happy you enjoyed my video! I had a great Thanksgiving and I'm glad you enjoyed the story about my cousin who is 102 years old! It sounds like you yourself have your own stories to tell. To have a great grandmother born on one of those ships! That is AMAZING. And twins??? And a two month journey? What a challenge! I had a fantastic Christmas with the nerds. Hope your holidays were fantastic as well.

@anywherewithkristen yes it was truly wonderful, traditional Thanksgiving dinner, and Christmas it's always my traditional Italian fare... Lord knows it's a Feast! My children love my Holiday traditions and I'm so thankful for them all. I can't wait to go to Sicily, my committed goal is in two years...I will be there! I just can't decide on what time of year to go in! I know not to go in August! But I'd love to see all the Christmas decorations, and then I'd love to spend time in the ocean swimming sunning and sipping!

This is great information for many travelers that blow through places without really seeing them. It’s a take the time to smell the roses moment in most cases. Loved the washing area! These were strong people that could accomplish even the most mundane tasks in and amongst the surrounding beauty. ❤

Taking a little at a time prolongs the enjoyment and seems more respectful, something we Americans dont get .... My ancestors, too, took a similar journey...how brave they were!!
I love your videos keep them coming ...show us the food you eat !!!

I'm glad you like them! You'll get to see some of the food I eat soon, it's one of my favorite parts of my Sicily experience! And hopefully I will be eating it as the Sicilians do...enjoying the process.

Most of Sicilians have relatives in the States. My grandfather was in the States logn time ago.

You are not wrong. Almost every Sicilian I run into here, knows someone in the United States. It goes to show how mass the migration was out of Sicily.

Yes, the ugly buildings... Many many years ago, especially in the south, the rules on how and where to build, were wild and mainly in the hands of the criminal organisation... I think that now it is very different. Unfortunately many of those "monsters" are still present 😞

To be fair, it may have just been the area we were at Termini does have beautiful areas.
