#italy #caccamo Exploring Sicily’s Lost Churches: San Nicasio & Holy Cross Ruins
When my nerds visited me in Sicily, they stumbled upon a hidden gem-an abandoned church at the end of a windy road near my house. Curiosity sparked, and we couldn’t resist exploring its secrets! This video chronicles our journey to the San Nicasio Church in Caccamo, Sicily, and what we uncovered within its hauntingly beautiful ruins. From its 16th-century origins to its tragic decline, we share the incredible story of this sacred place dedicated to St. Nicasius, a knight and martyr of the Crusades.
But our adventure didn’t end there! Just 100 meters away, we found the ruins of the Church of the Holy Cross, bui...

What a great video today I loved every minute of it! What a beautiful Thanksgiving you had there with your cousins! I hope to find mine there one day! That was so cool to see your cousin who is 103 years old talking to your family at home on face time!! How cool was that!? I loved your analogy of how you looked up at the night sky and thought about other moms who said good bye to their husband's as they left their hometowns and villages for a "better" life in the US. That's exactly the same story of my ancestors, I think I told you my great grandmother was born on that ship along with her twin brother on their journey to New Orleans to meet up with my great great grandfather who opened the first shoe store in the French Quarter in the mid 1800's where my grandfather was born. My great great grandmother gave birth to twins on a ship out at sea, the trip took 2+ months due to bad weather she didn't even know she was pregnant with twins when she left Palermo and had just married my great great grandfather before he left for the US. It's mind boggling when we really think about how far we've come in just a mere 100 and 25 years... Your video was great and I loved learning more about your and hubby, congrats on the long marriage, and the fact y'all still like each other! 😃 Also that's so cool about not filling the glasses or cups, I've always done that, I guess I now know why, it's in my blood!! Anyway hoping your Christmas was wonderful ours was fantastic and it was as usual, over too soon... So much prep and cooking in my kitchen for days prior... Then the clean up..🙇 glad your pinky is better, I'm a tough old broad too, but a couple years ago I slammed my left pinky in my barn door window, it'll never be the same again, oh damn that hurt! Have a wonderful week and thanks again for sharing this beautiful journey of yours and taking all of us inquiring minds along with... Ciao and Happy New Year, 2025! 🎉 Annette

Jesus said, in John 10:28 KJV, "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." Ok? "any man" means anybody, everyone, who is saved including oneself. Meaning if you are saved, you cannot loose your salvation by your own doing. Jesus is God, and God can't lie.

Good eveing Kristin, new to your channel and enjoying your journey and experiences. I've been to Caccamo every other year. If ever you have issues/problems or getting the runaround within the Town of Caccamo, go to city hall and see my dear friend Giuseppe Scimecca. Tell him I (Giuseppe Caci) sent you. He will help you as best I know and he will.

👏Bravo & Grazie Mille Signor Filippo 👏Love this vlog of the palazzo. Let’s hope Caccamo can lovingly renovate this magnificent historical home. Xx

@TheBluebellMoon2 Yes. I hate to see old buildings, especially like this, fall into disuse and disrepair. I too hope someone will invest in it.

I am thoroughly enjoying your videos together with all your wonderful experiences you are having in Italy. I have been in love with the Italian language since I was nine years old. There was a young Italian girl who came into my class at the time and I took an instant liking to her and I wanted to help her with English and become her friend. She and her family had just arrived in Australia. She was from Messina in Sicily. Meeting her sparked a love for the Italian language. So much so that 10 years later, I went over to Italy and studied the language in Florence. The last number of years I have returned to my Italian studies. I’m very happy to say that I’m an advanced student now. Caccamo looks absolutely delightful. I haven’t been to Sicily and hope to visit someday very soon. It’s lovely to see say the three of you cherishing your time together. Buon Natale e un Felice Anno Nuovo per 2025. 🎉

It is wonderful to hear that you have such a strong connection to Italy and the friendship you developed! How awesome! And the fact that it spurred you to study Italian in Florence. I was in Florence one time for a QVC shoot.
