    Went to sicily last September. We spent a night in Catania, 4 nights in Taormina and 4 nights in Ortigia.
    We loved Taormina the most, unfortunately it was raining heavily during out time in Ortigia but we still enjoyed it.
    Taormina is magical

    Hello guys , I am going to Sicily in September for 2 weeks , and you are the perfect you-tubers I was looking for .I cannot believe you only spend $1719.68 US in 18 days . Wow , that's amazing !!! I am expecting to spend double the amount in 2 weeks . Regarding the car rental , which company did you use and was the car manual or Automatic? I was told not to use a third party company when renting a car and go directly to the rental company web site .

    • @midlifetravelbug
      @midlifetravelbug  2 месяца назад +1

      That’s amazing! You will love it for sure. We have a link in the description below if you use it, it helps us out . It’s a good one with pricing too. We had a manual. Most are there. Make sure you get a small car for sure.
      Yes it would be easy to spend more. Keep in mind were there in low season. We also only eat out once or twice a day as we long travel. But it’s not hard to stay on budget there, cheaper than the rest of Italy so far. Thank you so much for your kind words. Cheers 🥂 Chris and Jim
      Have a fabulous time, let us know how it went for you when you’re back.

    We’re flying into Palermo in October and flying out of Catania. We’re thinking Palermo, Milazzo (with a day trip to Lipari), Taormina, Syracuse and Catania. Ten days. Should be enough time with 2 nights each place?

    Great video, loved watching your adventures and tips. A question regarding the car - fuel costs and where did you park? Was it difficult to find somewhere to park the car when you were day tripping and at accommodation?

    • @midlifetravelbug
      @midlifetravelbug  2 месяца назад

      Thank you so much, we are so happy you enjoyed the video! We may have only spent less than 100 can $ on fuel. Our car was tiny which was a blessing. It was relatively easy to park and if not the hosts would tell us where to go. Keep in mind we were there in November and it was low season. We only paid a few times and it was pretty reasonable. A couple euros at a time. We were actually surprised how easy it was. 🥂 Cheers thanks watching , Chris and Jim

    My wife and I are flying from Toronto to Palermo in early September, spending two weeks in a seaside town called Balestrate. It is located about half an hour from Palermo airport. We are staying in a B & B through Expedia. Our cost is $4300 before any food or transportation or anything else. We get breakfast included though. I will never drive there, as first I can’t do standard driving….and second, being half Sicilian, I know better 🤣 We just plan on chilling, doing the beaches, eating , walking around, just soaking in the culture and vibes.

    Great video. I may have missed it. When exactly did you go to Sicily? We are in Edmonton, going to Rimini for work in Jan 2025 and then plan to head straight south to Sicily. Probably into Palermo and out of Catania. Any places you think may not be worth it in Jan/Feb 2025 due to it being colder and less sesonal?

    • @midlifetravelbug
      @midlifetravelbug  3 месяца назад

      Hey, thanks for watching and the nice comment :) We hope to have earned your subscription 😁
      We were in Sicily in November and the weather was still great. A little less restaurants and not many tourists so we felt it was a great time. We're not sure about January/February, but all of the town's we visited were pretty special. I don't think you can really go wrong unless it's raining every day... but you can't control that.
      Hope you have an amazing trip! Go Oilers!

      Yes. The English travel books widely use Syracuse. I have 2 in front of me and they both use Syracuse. Just like they use Rome -not Roma; Naples -not Napoli; Florence -not Firenze. When I use the correct Italian version my friends think I am being pretentious.😃

    How was the parking when you went into the cities?

    • @midlifetravelbug
      @midlifetravelbug  3 месяца назад +1

      We didn't park in Catania or Palermo. The rest of the cities were pretty good. We also looked ahead to see if there were parking areas ahead of time, and reached out to our accommodation hosts for instructions. Cefalu was a little tricky, but only because we were trying to park close to our place in Old Town.
      Otherwise it was pretty easy. Keep in mind we were there in November. Hope this helps, cheers Chris and Jim!

      We were already in Europe so it’s hard to give you a proper answer. We came from London for about 65 cad . We flew from Kelowna to Paris returning for 600 cad. Not sure if this helps, thanks for watching 💓🫶
