  • A new scandal has rocketed across the world with headlines proclaiming that Pope Francis has authorized priests to bless same-sex couples. This time, the headlines weren't spinning it. Is this the Great Shipwreck Our Lady spoke of three years ago? Even so, Mark & Daniel exhort listeners to stop being victims and complainers and become the light in this darkness of confusion.

@@Sniper_Cat_71 Four things Pope Francis did were absolutely instrumental to my conversion into the Mother Church. 1) Instituting the Year of Mercy in 2016 (This is when I first found interest in the Catholic Church), 2) Offering the Church protection during the Year of St. Joseph in 2021, and 3) Consecrating Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on March 25, 2022, 4) approving pilgrimages to Medjugorje.
I am praying Pope Francis will be the one who will crown Mary as Co-redemptrix, mediatrix and advocate. Also praying he receives the gift of living in the Divine Will, and can finish the canonization of Luisa Piccerreta. Her writings make it very clear the Pope is instrumental in bringing about this new springtime in the church.
Regardless of your thoughts on the Holy Father, please know that Jesus never gave up on Judas. Christ's love towards Judas in reflected in the 24 hours of the passion Luisa wrote breaks my heart.

How many "couples" will actually read the document and comprehend it fully. The "couple" doesn't need a blessing, each individual could receive a blessing and seek the Sacrament of Reconcilliation, which includes the Act of Contrition. My brother died of HIV in the 90's. I am not ignorant of the struggles involved, nor did I withhold my love from him, but a blessing implies hope of full recognition similar to marriage, and doesn't encourage abstinence. The teachings of Christ in Scripture were given for a reason. God himself knows the human heart and still does not condone sin.
He actually said to go and sin no more, not in a harsh way but to open our eyes to the greatest good for our salvation.

Bingo!🎯 Well said. Since when does a priest bless a person actively engaged in sin? This is a novelty, an innovation. A priest blesses a person only after a good confession and absolution. The Sacrament of Confession has always been available to homosexuals. Is this Sacrament suddenly not good enough for them? Do homosexual sins no longer need to be confessed? That's the real point of confusion here.

@@janeyount8412 a blessing can and should be give to everyone, in particular a sinner, as with it, the sinner may find strenght to fight sin. Love the sinner, bless the sinner. It is compketely different from accepting sin. This is the point where things get confused. People say I am gay... they identify as such. But they are NOT their sin! They can detach from sin, with GOD'S GRACE, and their free will.
I lived in the UK, and everyone gets in line, at Mass, some receive the Eucharist, others because they did not have the chance to confess, they cross their hands over the chest and the priest gives them a blessing. No questions asked. A blessing, at Mass. What a gift this is to a sinner seeking God! We must love the sinner and hate sin, just like Jesus tild us.

      @janeyount8412 7 месяцев назад +1

@carlagrado7201 The innovative blessing presented in this Declaration is different than that which is given in the Communion line. Therein lies the confusion. A good, holy priest would encourage a person living a homosexual lifestyle to confess and repent *first* and then be blessed. God loves every sinner but hates the sin. That's why this Sacrament is available for all sinners to receive God's cleansing and forgiveness.

    Statement from the USCCB FWIW
WASHINGTON - In response to the Declaration “Fiducia supplicans” issued by the Vatican’s Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith today, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) offered the following statement from its spokesperson, Chieko Noguchi, executive director of public affairs.
“The Declaration issued today by the Vatican’s Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (DDF) articulated a distinction between liturgical (sacramental) blessings, and pastoral blessings, which may be given to persons who desire God’s loving grace in their lives. The Church’s teaching on marriage has not changed, and this declaration affirms that, while also making an effort to accompany people through the imparting of pastoral blessings because each of us needs God’s healing love and mercy in our lives.”
Of course it doesn't state what the media says it does, but that matters little because people see the headlines from AP, MSNBC, etc and run with it. Confusion, confusion, confusion.
Blessed Holy Mother stated that the final battle will be over "marriage and the family", and we are there.

I mean, in this case it is clear that this document is not condoning the blessing of a SSA union, it is however approving the blessing of the sinners involved in the act so that they may find repentance, grace and seek forgiveness.

@@mariachico4456 you could use the same logic for absolutely everything. Criminals will act like criminals despite laws being passed, so what is so surprising about a rebellious priest acting like such? let's use the following example with the holy eucharist: you should only participate in the sacrament of the eucharist if you are in a state of grace, however, satanists sometimes participate in it to insult our Lord, or even worse, they may steal the eucharist to use it for ill purposes. Hence, should we allow communion to be given freely without a prior interrogation? it is up to the individual and priest to seek their own salvation, and the church is there to help the individuals attain it, which is why given the current times of confusion in regards to stray German priests who are going nuts with blessing same sex unions, the Pope has actually given a whole document clarifying that priests cannot impart sacramental blessings or blessings that in any way shape or form may sound like a marital blessing to those unions, they are only allowed to impart pastoral blessings to the individuals/couple so they may grow closer to Christ, and God be willing, break free of that state of sin through repentance. Now, will there be malignant priests taking heed of the moment to try to sacramentally bless those unions? of course, but they are most likely already doing that! which is why the Pope decided that it was necessary to clarify this issue with the current document.

We follow Jesus Christ, not the Pope, right? We listen to the Pope because Jesus appointed Him as his vicar. But this does not mean that we follow "the man" as though he were Christ. We have to discern between the authentic magisterium of the pope, and that which isn't.

That resonated with me having a profound conversion in Medjugorje 16 years ago. When I heard through intercession, our Blessed Mother said, I was to bring to darkness having saved my marriage. I sobbed because I thought it was an impossible mission. As I have grown stronger in faith and greater love for Jesus and Mary, I have gained confidence and desire to save souls by sharing my testimony of that conversion experience with others since modern man listens more willingly to witnesses than teachers.

Eusebius (4th cent.), Ecclesiastical History Book 1, Chap. 12, #4
"Clement, in the fith book of his Hypotyposes, in which he also mentions Cephas, of whom Paul writes 'When he came to Antioch, I withstood him in his face', says that one who happened to have the same name as Peter the Apostle who was one of the seventy."
This passage shows historical evidence that Cephas whom Paul rebuked was not St. Peter, but rather one of the 70 disciples of Jesus. So this, as well as other evidence shows that Paul did not rebuke St. Peter. St Peter, the first pope, never taught heresy.
I recommend watching the video "Did St. Paul really rebuke St. Peter in Galations 2?"

Some basic catechesis is in order for clarity:
    I. Introductory Questions
    1. What is the Magisterium of the Catholic Church?
The Magisterium, aka., Teaching Authority, of the Catholic Church is the Roman Pontiff (the Pope) and the Bishops in union with him.
    2. What is the role of the Magisterium with regard to what Catholics are to believe?
The role of the Magisterium with regard to what Catholics are to believe is to offer authoritative teachings on faith and morals to be believed by the faithful of the Church.
    3. On what authority does the Magisterium exercise this role of teaching the faithful?
The Magisterium exercises this role of teaching the faithful on the authority of Jesus Christ, the Founder of the Church, who gave this authority to Peter, the first Pope, and to the Apostles, whose successors are the bishops.
    4. What disposition ought a Catholic have with respect to the Magisterium when it teaches authoritatively?
When the Magisterium teaches authoritatively, a Catholic ought to have a disposition of humble docility towards these authoritative teachings.
    5. Why ought a Catholic have a disposition of humble docility towards the Magisterium when it teaches authoritatively?
A Catholic ought to have a disposition of humble docility towards the Magisterium when it teaches authoritatively because when the Magisterium so teaches, it is teaching in the name of Jesus Christ who said to His Apostles, “He who hears you, hears me,” and this same saying applies also to the Magisterium.
    6. Is Fiducia Supplicans (On the Pastoral Meaning of Blessings) an authoritative teaching of the Magisterium?
Yes, Fiducia Supplicans is an authoritative teaching of the Magisterium as it was approved by the pope in common form and was promulgated in the form of a declaration.
    7. Ought, then, a Catholic receive the teachings of Fiducia Supplicans with a disposition of humble docility?
Yes, a Catholic receive the teachings of Fiducia Supplicans with a disposition of humble docility since it is an authoritative teaching of the Magisterium of Christ’s Holy Church. In most cases, dissent from the document results in incurring “grave sin” (Pope Pius X, Praestantia Scripturae).
    II. Catechesis on Fiducia Supplicans
    8. Why was Fiducia Supplicans written?
Fiducia Supplicans was written to respond to various questions from different parts of the world about the proper use of blessings by ordained ministers - especially in light of certain abuses that have recently crept into the church by various prelates.
    9. What is the main topic of Fiducia Supplicans?
The main topic of Fiducia Supplicans is the pastoral meaning of blessings.
    10. Does Fiducia Supplicans contradict or overturn previous Church teaching, such as the 2021 CDF document on this same topic?
No, Fiducia Supplicans does not contradict or overturn previous Church teaching, including the 2021 CDF document on this same topic, but, rather, by its own words, continues the perennial teaching of Holy Mother Church and deepens the concepts put forward in the 2021 CDF document.
    11. Why did the Holy Father issue this document, given the fact that so many, for whatever reasons, misinterpret it?
The Holy Father issued this document, despite the fact so many, for whatever reasons, would misinterpret it, because he needed to respond to the errors of certain German Bishops, and others, about these blessings.
    12. How many kinds of blessings are there, according to Fiducia Supplicans?
According to Fiducia Supplicans, there are three kinds of blessings.
    13. What are these three kinds of blessings?
The three kinds of blessings are the following: 1.) A blessing from God to man, by which God pours gifts and helps upon man. 2.) A blessing from man to God, by which man praises God for His goodness and majesty. 3.) A blessing from man to man, by which man serves as an instrument of God to his fellow man to pour down God’s helps upon this fellow man.
    14. Can sin be blessed?
No, the church has always taught that sin cannot be the object of a blessing.
    15. Can sinners be blessed?
Yes, sinners can be the object of a blessing. Examples include during the liturgy when the priest blesses the whole congregation, when people who are not properly disposed to receive the Eucharist approach the priest for a blessing, and when an unrepentant person approaches a priest in the confessional for absolution. In the latter case, the priest withholds absolution but offers a blessing.
    16. Are homosexual actions sins?
    Yes, homosexual acts are sins.
    17. Can homosexual acts be blessed?
No, homosexual acts cannot be the object of a blessing because they are sins.
    18. Can those persons who fall into the sin of homosexual acts be the object of a blessing?
Yes, persons who fall into the sin of homosexual acts can be the object of a blessing.
    19. Does blessing a person who habitually falls into the sin of homosexual acts serve as approval of that sin?
No, blessing a person who habitually falls into the sin of homosexual acts does not serve as approval of that sin, but, rather, serves as a sign that the person needs God’s graces to overcome that vice.
    20. If a couple who habitually fall into the sin of homosexual acts with each other are blessed, does that necessarily mean that their sins are being approved by that blessing?
No, if a couple who habitually fall into the sin of homosexual acts with each other are blessed, that does not necessarily mean that their sins are being approved by that blessing.
    21. May a couple who habitually fall into the sin of homosexual acts with each other be blessed?
Yes, a couple who habitually fall into the sin of homosexual acts may be blessed, provided that the blessing is given in such a way that it is clear to the couple and to others that it is not their sins that are being blessed or approved, but, rather, that they, as persons, may overcome their vices and that their relationship be transformed from one that is sinful to one that is chaste. In other words, the persons of the gay couple are the object of the blessing - not the union of the gay couple.
    22. Should a blessing be given to such a couple who do not desire to overcome their sin?
No, a blessing should not be given to a couple who do not desire to overcome their sin, but only to those who request a blessing because they are looking for strength from God to be chaste. In fact, Fiducia Supplicans expressly envisions the blessings in question for those who wish to follow God’s commands and will for their life.
    23. How is it not a contradiction to hold that an ordained minister can bless such a couple in this manner in light of what the CDF taught in 2021 when it ruled that a same-sex union cannot be blessed?
It is not a contradiction to hold that an ordained minister can bless such a couple in this manner in light of what the CDF taught in 2021 when it ruled that a same-sex union cannot be blessed because what the CDF taught in 2021 was that the same-sex unions cannot be blessed precisely as same-sex unions, i.e., as sinful unions, for sin cannot be blessed, i.e., approved. Fiducia Supplicans affirms this teaching, but goes on to say that the persons of the couple can be blessed provided that it is clear that the sins which they may have committed, and may still commit, are not being approved. In this way, Fiducia Supplicans is a further explanation of the 2021 decision by the CDF.
    24. What good could possibly come from an ordained minister blessing a couple who habitually fall into the sin of homosexual acts with each other?
The good that could possibly come from an ordained minister blessing a couple who habitually fall into the sin of homosexual acts with each other is that the couple will be given actual graces from God to overcome their vice and they will realize that their heavenly Father loves them which will help them overcome their sin.
    25. How ought a Catholic respond when faced with the commonly held opinion that the Church, in Fiducia Supplicans, has changed her teaching on the sinfulness of homosexual acts?
When faced with the commonly held opinion that the Church, in Fiducia Supplicans, has changed her teaching on homosexual acts is to assert that this is not the case and to show, through the making of proper distinctions, how this is the case. In fact, such is the duty of ever faithful Catholic according to the Magisterium itself.
    26. Can the persons of the same-sex couple receive the blessing simultaneously?
Fiducia Supplicans expressly guards against any form of blessing that would result in scandal, confusion or the appearance of blessing the union itself. In light of these qualifications, the blessings should not be administered to the persons of the disordered union simultaneously but individually.
    27. Doesn’t the reference in Fiducia Supplicans to “blessings of couples in irregular situations and of couples of the same sex” proof that the object of the blessing is the same-sex union itself?
No. Blessings of couples can be understood in two senses: a blessing of the persons of the couple or a blessing of the union of the couple. Fiducia Supplicans goes to great length to note the blessing is for the persons of the couple, not the union of the couple.
    28. Are these blessings to be given publicly or privately?
Privately, since a public administration of these blessings would inevitably lead to confusion and scandal - which Fiducia Supplicans says must be private and not give any indication of approval. As the God-loving Cardinal indicates these simple blessings "legitimize nothing."

As a recent convert to the Catholic Church, I see this through the eyes of my Protestant experience. This is how it starts. A small crack, a fissure, is continually chipped away at over a period of many years. The strong in the faith give way to those who steadily chip away until the Truth is corrupted. Through subtle manipulation of church teachings, shaming of a position of Truth to a point that the once strong leave or give up the fight, even to the corruption of the real meaning of LOVE that God and Jesus taught, it happens. Time to stand up for the last bastion of Truth. Pray harder, study longer, stand for Truth. Support leaders in the Church who stand for Truth. A mighty fortress is our God! Will we stand firm in the battle? Like the Pope who Luther challenged for bad teachings, this Pope, too, shall pass!

    • @jeffreyfrench6401

I was a Protestant who converted to the Catholic faith. Did you know the Vatican had a joint declaration with the Lutherans on justification? A statue in honor of Martin Luther was put in the Vatican. Benedict XVI said that the Council of Trent's condemnation of Protestantism no longer applies.
You can't attempt to convert protestants to the Catholic faith if you hold that these men were true popes because the protestant can say that they can still hold justification by faith alone and that they are no longer anathema.
We are in the Great Apostasy. The recent claimants to the papacy since Vatican II have not been true popes. If these men were real popes, then the gates of hell would have prevailed against the Church. The chair of St. Peter is vacant. The gates of hell are heretics. There are only a small remnant of traditional Catholics left as predicted in Luke 18:8. I recommend watching the videos at vaticancatholic *dot* com. They helped convert me to authentic Catholicism.
