    To use this pattern with 2.5" wide strips; use the following sub-cuts for the light and the dark logs per block: 2.5"; 4.5"; 6.5"; 8.5"; 10.5" and 12.5". The three smaller logs will be paired up with the three larger logs to create a 12.5" wide unit. Enjoy!!

      Great tutorial and thank you for giving the cutting instructions for using 2.5” strips. You answered a question I was going to ask.

      Basically you're using jelly roll scraps, yes?

    Thank you for having your pattern printed out in a large font on your cutting table. It is nice to easily see your pattern while you show the block.

    This looks like a great way to use up a lot of scraps. When I cut, I usually cut out several projects at a time using my scraps. After I get enough pieces cut to make the project, I box it as a kit (for days when I'm having trouble standing and walking). When I'm having a bad day (too much pain to stand or walk for long periods), I make myself comfortable and sew. Plus, a ready cut kit may come in hand for someone else to sew and learn from. I put the instruction sheets and a constructed, pressed, top stitched sample(s) in the kit. Having projects ready to sew makes it easy for me to join others in a "Sew In". Sew Ins are fun; and, being ready makes it better.

    Thanks Lori! I will use your ideas of the diagonal direction on matching the two scraps together! I like to make strip quilts with various sizes and various lengths but have always joined the dark and light pieces with a regular straight seam! I use the diagonal seam on binding but had never done it on the piecing🫣😜 I can’t wait to see what my next quilt will look like with that seam since I don’t make a block, just sew the different sizes to together and sometimes horizontal and or vertical!

    Really cool block. Do you think it would work with 2 1/2 inch strips using the same lengths!

    • @quiltingwithlori
      @quiltingwithlori  4 месяца назад +1

      It can certainly be done with any size strip; However, you MIGHT have to adjust the length of each strip...I will have to play with that this week and see if the same length measurements will work with 2.5" wide strips. I didn't have time to check that out yesterday when I was experimenting with the 1.5" wide strips! If you get to experiment with your 2.5" wide strips before I get a chance to do so, let us know!! Happy Quilting!

    • @quiltingwithlori
      @quiltingwithlori  4 месяца назад +1

      Using 2" strips; try the following measurements: 2" squares, 4" rectangles, 6" rectangles, 8.5" rectangles, 10.5" rectangles and 12.5" rectangles.
