I just cracked mine 4 hrs ago. First pour 30 minutes ago and I will say you nailed this! This is a tough one to describe, there's a hell of a lot going on with the nose and pallet, it is absolutely a gem.
Broad description vs tasting notes is good. One thing I like about your tasting. There are some other reviewers out there that list a bunch of random fruits and nuts in tasting notes. Then at the end you can't tell if they actually like it or not.
I thought I found one at a Mexican joint recently. Saw the Ridgemont Reserve writing on the front and asked to see it. Bar tendered warned me it wasn't tequila 😆. It was old, the cork was broken, but not old enough. it didn't have the age statement on the back. Maybe 4 oz left and probably flat as hell. Passed on the anejo bourbon that night.
When did you try it? I think some older bottlings might have had more of that note you're mentioning, whereas the newer ones seem to be a little oakier and funkier.
Not sure why I wasn’t getting them. Could’ve ended up being edited out by accident as well, though I don’t remember actually getting too much banana on this one.

Actually found one of these a few months ago and it is absolutely delicious!

Try if you can to find some of the old school 1792 called Ridgemont Reserve 8 year bourbon....Fantastic stuff

@Javier Acosta Wow what a story! Yes they stipped age statements just before giving up Ridgemont Reserve label as Woodfors Reserve sued them
Been looking for a second bottle in GA for 3 years now, still no luck. It’s one of my favorite pours. Was an excellent go to whiskey
They have it at Dixie beverage outlet in Woodstock, just picked up a bottle
Thanks for your honesty.
I only have found the $29.99 small batch 1792, which is nice for the price. Always hunting for the BIB and 12 year.
Yeah the small batch is fantastic. Really comparable profile to the 12 year honestly, just without as much oak.
@@DrumsAndDrams I found a 1792 Full Proof that I bought for $60 a few days.
1792 12 yr one of my Favorite bottles
I got a weird cherry chapstick note off of it and could never get that out of my head every time I went back to it.

@@DrumsAndDrams probably 6 months ago but not sure how long that bottle was on the shelf.
Always a good buy 🥃
Honestly for 50 bucks its good in the last review or this one
Yeah man you need to let 1792 bottles get about 30% air
You're so right about this! I keep revisiting the 12yr (and others) now with more air, and they continue getting sweeter. Love it!
Compote, indeed!
WHISKEY CHEERS 🍻
No banana notes at all, huh?

What proof?
