Long overdue. Pure talent, unadorned beauty, generous to her band mates, sang what she wanted with pipes of glory. No one had her voice or vibe. Rare songbird that gave fame the middle finger when it bored her. It was the music that mattered.
i was not born wnen she started singing, but i have found her now and love her, wish i could have been around her back in the day,god bless you linda take care.
Pipes of power and tenderness. She is so deeply beloved - kind of rare. She had one writer, Dave Marsh, who trashed her always. In fact when he edited a reference book that praised Ronstadt he changed the reviews of others to demean her. I think he was Springsteen's Cabana Boy and they gave him a job at some magazine. Nowadays he is forgotten - she is a deeper icon than ever.
@@waynerhodes4806 He is/ was grotesque. Basically skilled at telling tone-deaf lonely suburban white boys how to jerk-off to music. Stunning that he was given any clout - definitely Springsteen's cabana boy.
Grit, beauty, intelligence, generosity, determination, vision, standards, talent, heart, and individuality. Linda Ronstadt is a beautiful example of a near-perfect human.
The crime is that she had to wait until 2014. She was first eligible in 1999. Thank God that Glenn was still around to induct her. It was great to see her contemporaries give her a voice although she actually preceded and, as Nicks said, inspired them.
"You're No Good" is just as strong to me today as it was when it was released. I don't know why it took the Hall so damned long. This woman sang it all. Country , rock, soul, the standards, and songs honoring her native tongue. She didn't just sing 'em. She mastered 'em She is the best female voice of the modern music era because sbe could do it all.
They tried to induct her before and she didn't want to be associated with rock & roll. She was going through something at that time, I guess. This was in the late '90s.
Linda's command of her voice, her control of her excellent versatility will never be matched by any other singer, ever. Linda always gave all of her very best. She was sincere; never insulted her audience or her fans. Never. She performed at peak at her every appearance. She sang what she meant and she meant what and how she sang.
Beautiful lady, with such grace has been dealt a terrible disease and still has so many fans. That's a true artist❤❤❤ History will never forget that name. Tracks of my tears, one of my favorites.
Linda Rondstadt has a one-of-a-kind voice and Parkinson's Disease has silenced her voice forever. I had many of Linda's albums on vinyl. Linda and I are the same age (73) and I pray that she can enjoy some comfort for the balance of her life. Linda, I have loved you for over 50 years and I will continue to do so until we both pass from this world. Thank you for the video of her RRHOF induction; it should have come much sooner than 2014.
I absolutely love Linda Ronstadt, I love her tough exterior, her beautiful voice, her unbelievable cuteness, her generous spirit, her amazing ear for talent to know true artistry when she reads or hears it, she’s a giant in the industry, how could I not be in love with all that? God bless you Linda
When I was growing up in the seventies, one of my sisters was a big fan of Linda's. I didn't really appreciate how awesome she was. She's a legend. She finally got in the HOF. Way overdue.
A remarkable set of gorgeous pipes attached to an utterly delicious human being. Rock and Roll was lucky to have her when it did - before she took that voice elsewhere.
She took her music in a direction that was part of her upbringing. Can't fault her for that. It would have been nice to be able to hear more great hits, but at least she didn't pull a Cat Stevens. (Which was his right to do). I hope they are both happy with the choices they've made.
Linda Ronstadt is hands down one of my top 3 fave female singers of all time. She's done it all and is so humble about her talent! She came up when there was no such thing as autotune! You either had perfect pitch or you didn't! Most women singers by comparison can't carry a tune in a bucket!!!
The lost art of interpretation. Every note was her own story. Often the only girl on the road - back when... A sublime vocalist - made boys and grown men ...cry. The Hall of Fame hardly deserves her beauty.
Her speaking voice is very different to her singing voice. When she is speaking she sounded like little girl just wanting to play dolls and eat candies but as soon as she opens her mouth to sing, she transforms into another persona and that voice soars so high bringing good music to our ears. What a great singer. A legend.
A grand and glorious vocalist. When she felt like belting out a rock tune or torch ballad no one could touch her power and emotion. People still make up stuff about Linda.
Shes the BEST ! What a doll, what a voice, what a face !! I danced to one of her songs on my wedding day. God Bless you Linda ! We all love you. Yuh ou will be able to sing again someday as beautifully as you always had. I cant wait till that day when were all together listening to outstanding voice !
Linda is and will always be one of the greatest voices of generations, Pure Authentic Talent the ultimate crossover artist it didn't matter what genre it was she could sing it all and did!!! she could take you place with a song like no other artist. More often than not her version of a song was better than the original. Always the Best of the Best!!!!
I have commented this before that many non-rock and roll artists (Madonna, Prince, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackso etc.) that were inducted had no business in this award. I even expressed my attitude towards it. I am very appalled that many of them were given the ward while many rock and roll artists (Megadeth, Alice in Chains, Pantera etc) are not. But Linda Ronstadt is, in my opinion, an exception and even though her roots is country music, she was one of the pioneers of the Country and Rock subgenre the Southern Rock plus she can't be put in only one genre of music. She did a bit of everything from Country Music to the Hippy Rock Psychedelic Music to Pop to Love songs to Rock and Roll to Folk Music to Classical and in between.
Glorious pipes, generous in a dirty rotten business- the rrhf is not worthy of Ronstadt's natural unpretentious charms. Queen of her scene without hardly trying. The other girls bore me to tears.
You are right. You don't stop to live, you don't stop to die. You do the thing that makes you - you! It is a gift from God. Great talent, great woman, focused, and the world was her footstool. Linda, You are loved!

I can't help it, I will forever see her in my mind ans Maybelle from the Pirates of Penzance. I had heard her before that of course but had never seen her until I saw the movie.
Aretha Franklin is okay but Linda Ronstadt should have been the first solo female artist inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Somebody dropped the ball denying Linda's induction until 2014. She could sing any style or any genre. Whether originals or covers Linda made any and every song her own. The only other singer who was a match for her brilliance was the late great Patsy Cline. Linda's voice is stilled now but it will never be gone. Thank you Linda for sharing your gift with us.
