Seen several stories about someone coming out as gay and cheating in their hetero marriage and destroying the family. Here's the thing... I saw something similar happen to a friend of mine, except she's the one that's lesbian, my friend. Her family was not broken up after she came out, and there was never any bad blood. Do you know why? She never married a man to "cover up" her homosexuality. She didn't know she was gay... she thought how she felt towards that man was just how she was supposed to feel, that sex was just supposed to be like that, etc... and she did love him romantically, but she did not realize she didn't find him physically attractive, think of it like a confused asexual person. One day she realized she was lesbian when that light bulb came in and she figured out she was always nervous and blushing around girls but never around men and that she started finding a female friend attractive, though that friend had no idea. She divorced immediately after figuring it out, but there was no cheating. She didn't abandon her kids (adults by then) and she always kept in contact with her ex and family and they separated amicably and they still spend the holidays together. She married a woman after the divorce, who she says was the absolute love of her life, and that woman unfortunately passed away a few years ago due to a brain tumor. She's been gone for about 6 years and my friend still always breaks down in tears remembering her and she hasn't been in a relationship since. Why can't these stories be like this? It's always someone using someone else to cover for their homosexuality, or marrying someone you know you don't love because of financial stability, and with cheating in between. Not because you're gay it means you get a pass to do things like these...
