Hey man, my 2016 Outlander 1000R XT did the SAME EXACT THING when I first got it, my dealer came and picked it up and replaced the entire throttle body for me, it runs mint now. Hope this helps anyone having the same issue, its a defective throttle body.
That is normal Just about every late model 500 and 570 will do that if you cold start it and rapid fire the throttle. Even though these vehicles are "EFI" they are not as sophisticated as cars or road motorcycles. They are basicly a speed density Type EFI, meaning the factory built the unit and cut a map for it. They do not have o2 sensors. The ecm has no way of knowing what its doing for fuel Rich or lean. All it knows is at this altitude and this coolant temp and in this case intake air temp as well as manifold vacume I inject this much fuel. At cold start the unit will put out the most emissions as the engine and exhaust are cold as well as since its cold it needs more fuel. In order to meet emmisions the Enginere will run it lean. As a matter of fact in 2015 I wana say they bumped the idle up on all atv models a couple hundred RPM to meet emmisions. I would bet that when that engine is cold and you hop on and ride it off the bottom it feels sluggish like the throttle isn't as crisp and responsive. Its lean. Its like that until it warms up and the map more accuarly fuels the motor. Is it a throttle body , I doubt it the only thing on the T BODY are the Idel air control valve and the Tps. Now the one guy said the dealer put on on and it fixed it. I doubt its the Tbody. What you must do if you replace the Tbody or remove/ tamper any of the sensors on it is called a TPS reinitization that basicly recalibrates the tps and IAC to throttle closed. A misadjusted or improper intilization would cause idle issues but would be cured with a reinitilization. The throttle body is basicly a slug of aluminum with a butterfly in it. Also What you can do is if your having idle issues, cold start it let it sit and heat cycle a couple times that will allow it to adjust itself. For example if you put it away in September when its 80 deg out, go out when its November and 20 out and fire it up it will start how ever once it starts it will run off the 80deg sept map until it warms and heat cycle. Ill leave you with th. BRp issues a bulletin to dealers, it covered multiple products. ATVS SXS sleds. Anyways they were having cold start issues what BRP blamed it on was High ethanol content they recommended running a higher octane fuel. I hope this helps someone, my 570 dose I worked on Can Ams for 10 years and they are great unit.
I bought a 1,000 for me and a 570 for my wife and getting on one bike to the other the 570 always had a weird slight hesitation on the tip of the throttle It definitely helps when it's warmed up it's fine but definitely annoying and now I'm here posting this comment in the process of changing the fuel pump 2 years later
Alan Richard I have all options selected on my gauges. If you have a CanAm you can have your dealer enable all the gauges. It's just a matter of hooking up the BUDS software, checking all the boxes and applying te changes About a 2 minute job
Just an update, I got my XMR 570 back today. I had the same issue but it barely ran unless I feathered the throttle just like he did but in a vigorous way. Luckily I bought that really nice expensive warranty and it paid off this time. the problem was the fuel pump lost the ability to produce the needed pressure to keep the fuel lines primed. They aren't saying a lot about it but I got mine replaced with a new updated part. my dealer says he has seen about 15 like this, usually the early yr model can ams like my 16 etc. the new updated part is 10 times better and they have never had a repeat offender once the pump has been replaced. Surprisingly they aren't admitting this they are just dealing with this on a problem by problem basis. Warranty saved me $300 plus for a pump and another $300 plus in labor so I'm ok with it. They threw in 2 new spark plugs for free! ;-)
That's my thoughts. It smells like fuel after it dies. My thoughts are that either the fuel mapping is too rich, or the ECM has an issue with keeping up with the throttle input from the TPS...or a bad TPS (throttle position sensor). It's not burning the fuel. The dealer tried a fuel pump. I told them that wasn't the problem. Its getting TOO MUCH fuel. Thats not a fuel pump issue. Problem is still not resolved and only 3 months left on my warranty. :-/
Ok it’s new so I’m assuming it’s the same tank of fuel. Sounds like either bad gas or a bad throttle position sensor. Had the same issue on a Polaris rzr XP
+connorandchloe If you check it out and figure it out post results and if not I would take the time to try and call the other dealer. Also if you have it apart far enough to check your spark plugs, double check the gap and burn on the tip
Did you find the problem? I have different software. ECU cycles when the key is turned on. I always have instant throttle response to 8200 rpm . Good luck with it.
I have 150 hrs on mine .no problem, Can Am owes you a Bike that works. They have a bad pre service record. Hope they worked it out. They owe me a bike that stops .
My 16 XMR 570 Just started this same shit. I will call then drop it off on Tursday but i am sure they will blame it on gas/ dirty fuel since that is the cheapest route for most to take. I am also sure they will keep it forever knowing that they can drag out the warranty issue with the hope that i get tired & frustrated enough to just say "fix it" on my dime! This is unlikely since i rarely ride it & i have less than 60 miles on a atv i bought new in Aug 16. My work makes me keep my miles low, lol so the waiting game i shall win!
I noticed you had it in 4×4 mode when you fired it up not that it matters but you never know I bought my wife a 2019 450 it only been fired up a couple of time and when I feather the throttle it does some weird stuff to hope you get it figured out thanks for the video
Good video,,, have you had any problem with your key not being recognized or not working at all. I have Can-Am 500. You have to wiggle the key a few time to get to work??
+Teri and TL Stanbro I have a 2013 650xmr that ran into a DESS key not recognized and Reverse override quit working. After changing the ignition and programming new keys didn't help. I found the wire harness up under the front left inner fender was rubbing and three wires had started to short out on the frame. So I fixed them up and used electrical cleaner to clean the dirt out of the controller on the handlebars. Has worked great since. Dealer told me if you put the key in backwards it will wreck your ignition chip reader.
