I would definitely need to stop for a sherry or a cider at a Pub called The Snooty Fox, lol. How exciting that His Majesty has a shop there; I do like hearing about his interest in sustainability, historic preservation, gardening, climate change, etc. An Anglophile who grew up in California, these issues are important to me as well, on both sides of the Pond. I've heard Bunny Guinness talk about some of the fascinating work she did at Highgrove. A blend of tradition and modern ideas (though some of those actually go way back) can produce incredible results. A charming town indeed. I love the Market Hall with the thick columns; such a great idea. Cheers!

So lovely to see the little town where I was born 70 years ago, especially now that I live so far away on the remote Pacific Northwest coast of the USA. My parents left in 1957 and took our family to America. I miss my British heritage and appreciate seeing our village. Thank you!

Another impossibly beautiful video of the Cotswolds. Amazing to see what is now a hotel built during the reign of Henry VIII! I noticed, towards the end, what looks like an Australian Indigenous flag featured outside one of the buildings (a gallery?), something I did not expect to see in Tetbury!

Another video of beautiful England, another place for me to spend a little time in when I next visit England. I’d never heard of the Cotswolds until I was painting the trim and garages on my home here in Idaho this lovely warm beige. I had to look it up. Now I’m obsessed with visiting this amazing place which turns out to be one of the areas that my many English ancestors immigrated from when these stone cottages were practically new. Once again a great start to my Sunday morning. What another lovely village this is. The hanging baskets look lovely against the cotswold stone. I love that you explain the names of the towns too. Cheers Cheryl
Lovely video, thanks. When doing family history research, we discovered that my Great-Grandparents Sarah Walker and William Clark were married in Tetbury in 1877. We subsequently found an early photo of them taken by a local photographer James Clark (no relation as far as we know). Sarah was born and brought up in nearby Oldbury on the Hill, but William came from Hertfordshire where his father was a policeman.
Such a quaint village. The well manicured landscaping added to its charm & appeal. I’d always heard of the Cotswold but is the first I’ve seen any of it. As always, u do an amazing job of showing us each place while educating us on its historical importance. The wool sack race along w/ fair, food & fun things sounds like a great time for all. Thank u for taking the time to share ur journeys w/ us. I can’t tell u enough how much I appreciate the voice overs telling what we’re seeing along w/ it’s history as opposed to just Willy hilly walking around. Your efforts don’t go unnoticed 😉🥰!!
I am always excited to see your nnotifications pop up and I look forward to your postings very much. These beautiful towns are such a joy and I feel fortunate to be able to "visit" them along with you both. Thank you. If I had one comment to make is that the overhead powerlines spoiled the pristine and rather perfect images - I am being super critical I know but it reminded me of the visiting Santorini in Greece where the stunning view to the caldera is overshaddowed somewhat by ugly powerlines strung up like spaghetti. But, we all need electricity, just wish the power lines were under ground. xx
I am guessing the houses are protected as they were there long before electricity, so disturbing them and the areas around them is not allowed or cost prohibitive to dig up the roads? It does detract as do the cars but not much else you can do, modern life moves on. At least the houses survive! 😊
What is so incredible about these amazing villages is that they have kept the chain stores out. Whether the inhabitants shop elsewhere or a corner store I don't know but it's great visiting a refreshing place with no hustle and bustle.
Chain stores prefer to go to the major towns, that way they serve all the smaller towns and villages around. Most villages would have the basic corner store type shop and a bakery, hairdresser maybe, small towns would have a local supermarket etc but mostly you go to the major towns for large shopping needs. It is the same here in rural Australia.
Another brilliant video❤You truly do know your production skills, with excellent, well informed research of the towns & villages you visit. As an avid anglophile, I appreciate these videos most deeply! Thank you both❤❤

That was a lovely tour, thankyou. You showed us a few important signs but not long enough for us to read them. Could you please take a little longer so we can see them properly?
Thanks we will bear it in mind, I guess people read things at a different pace as I though we were lingering long enough. You can of course pause the video at that points. 😊
Another beautiful Cotswalds market town. What’s not to love? When you showed the Close Hotel and state it was built in the time of King Henry VIII it’s truly mind blowing. You can really see the different types of architecture. Would be great to have a peek inside some of the homes. Another top quality video. Thanks again Will and Simon ❤
Thank you Will and Simon for showing us around Tetbury. Lovely place just to walk around and browse those lovely shops! I would have like to seen those races, such fun! Looking forward to the next one guys!
Just beautiful, we will be staying in the Cotswolds next year. My 1st thought was to watch your videos for information and gorgeous footage! Thank you.
This is a lovely video and I wished I had seen it before I visited Tetbury last year. I haven’t got my own transport so my daughter took to see the town. I have got special rail staff passes but as you mentioned Tetbury was one of many stations axed by Beeching in the 1960s, better bus services were promised but sadly it didn’t happen in many of the places that lost their station. I would like to have seen the former station area. I was very pleased to see the Chipping steps. I think you said that you took the video early in the day, that was a good idea because we visited on an afternoon and the traffic can be heavy, the roads are very difficult to cross in the late afternoon. Gloucestershire is very rich in pretty towns and having traveled to every English county, I think it is one the most beautiful counties
Yes I know some people like to see inside, we prefer to look at the architecture and are not really shoppers. Coming earlier also means we avoid getting thousands of people in the shots and you then can’t really see the building and streets etc. it’s a hard balance to hit.
Ich bin so froh, dass ich euch hier auf RUclips gefunden habe. Eure Videos sind so wunderschön und vor allen Dingen sehr informativ. Wie gerne würde ich noch einmal Großbritannien besuchen. Amazing!! I always wanted to see this village. I am thinking I have to rent a car when I work back in England this summer. You guys did an amazing job with this video!! I just wish the automatic cars are cheaper to rent. I get nervous to try manuals. 95 percent plus North American drivers drive automatic. They are trying to get rid of manuals because they want both hands on the wheel. This was a great video. Thank you!!
If you’re a visitor to England and want to explore those “picture perfect - these days Instagram” villages so beloved by movie directors then you can’t go wrong with the Cotswolds. The area is full of beautiful small towns and villages unspoilt by insensitive, cheap developments that trashed so many larger English towns/cities.
The Wool Market building, built on pillars, has a 'clone' in teensy weensy Minchinhampton. The name is longer than Minch's main street😮! It too is on a (smaller) hill, close to an imposing church. Maybe architectural plans and outer finishes on buildings were developed as a 'bulk buy' - the Cotswold towns and villages all look the same to me! (uh-oh! I hear the pitter patter of offended Anglophiles! Sorry - no malice intended! Mind you, Minch has a lovely little tea room, The Kitchen, which brightens up the village.
@@MemorySeekers Fortunately I no longer do that particular round, I have a nice new estate to deliver on and it's nice and flat. (Have also done routes in Nailsworth however. All day walking uphill. that's a proper workout.)

Yes it would be interesting to be able to see inside but I wonder if many have been modernised so you don’t have the feel of the past.
@@MemorySeekers true enough. It’s still great to know the history that took place there. 👻😉
Greart tour.
Thanks
Thank you Will and Simon for showing us around Tetbury. Lovely place just to walk around and browse those lovely shops! I would have like to seen those races, such fun! Looking forward to the next one guys!
Yes, so would we. I am sure it is great fun!
Love your channel, the narrative and photos. ;)
Thank you very much! 😊
Just beautiful, we will be staying in the Cotswolds next year. My 1st thought was to watch your videos for information and gorgeous footage! Thank you.
😊
This video is excellent.. put together really well 👍👍
Thank you very much!
Wow - very impressed that you have been able to visit every English County, we have lots more to explore yet
👍
😊
Been there.........Mother in Law was from Tetbury......Nice town.....
awesome video !!...so much history ..in Canada we dont have any thing like this ..forgot this village was go close to highgrove
Glad you enjoyed it
Very charming journey. I like your this effort. Plz. carry on.
Thank you
Excellent !
I like your videos. Wish you would of been later in the day so you could show us inside the stores especially King Charles III shop. Have a great day.
Yes I know some people like to see inside, we prefer to look at the architecture and are not really shoppers. Coming earlier also means we avoid getting thousands of people in the shots and you then can’t really see the building and streets etc. it’s a hard balance to hit.
Enjoyed the video so much. @!@!!!
😊

Thank you!!
I see that a lot all over the world don’t really understand why the have to charge more for an automatic?
Wonderful video!
Am curious about the next one.
Very soon! 😊
Awesome footage. Enjoyed every minute of it. Going to see if I can get there for a day on my next trip to the UK.
Hope you manage to fit it in! Enjoy
Plz travel Yorkshire extensively and upload 🙏🏼😇 i love all your videos, so informative and picturesque
I m going there soon 😊
Enjoy!
Hello , very nice I know the place very well nice to see the walk around.
😊
Lovely video, as always (though I was hoping for a glimpse of at least one wool yarn shop! 😉).
Now you mention it I cannot say I saw one.....I did find this one on facebook facebook.com/profile.php?id=100057201260066
@@MemorySeekers Thank you! Wherever I'm thinking of traveling, I look for yarn shops. (My husband looks for restaurants, for some strange reason... 😆)

Try delivering the post up and down that hill every day.
Saves going to the gym I guess! Do you make that walk each day delivering the post?
@@MemorySeekers Fortunately I no longer do that particular round, I have a nice new estate to deliver on and it's nice and flat. (Have also done routes in Nailsworth however. All day walking uphill. that's a proper workout.)
The Two Fat Ladies visited Tetbury when they cooked for the Westonbirt School lacrosse team. They bought meat for the girls at Jesse Smith.
What do most people do for a living in this village?
@memoryseekers, apologies if someone has answered this, but do you know why there was an Australian Aboriginal flag hanging outside one of the buildings at the end of your video?
Never mind, just answered my own question😂. It’s an art gallery. Still interesting why that flag is hanging on a building in England.😮
I found the gallery website www.baygalleryhome.com/
Bay Gallery Home has represented artists from communities of the Northern Territory, Australia since 2008. We are the only dedicated Aboriginal gallery in the UK, and are proud to present this compelling and sophisticated body of work.
Is that the Australian Aboriginal flag at 13:10?
Yes it is
@@MemorySeekers Thanks. Is there a reason why it's there?

@@MemorySeekers That's great. Thanks for that information.
The Australian Aboriginal flag that appears at 13.06 is a long way from home. I wonder what the story is.
