Having flashbacks! I definitely think this should aid anyone who's struggling a little or becoming frustrated with almost getting a signal & then losing it & not sure why.
Those inexpensive satellite meters that just tell you the signal strength with a needle on them are a great help and are less than $20 . It's not worth wasting time trying to do it with the built in meter on the TV for that price. I used mine to align ours on the house in the UK and it's been on the wall for 15 years . The only time the picture breaks up is in a thunderstorm.
Have a Shaw Direct 800 series box, brand new, Used it at one location without issues. Moved to a second location 5 minutes up the road. Hooked it up to a dish that was prepointed and all I get is bouncing signal from 0 to 65 even if I move the dish totally off the satelite where I should only get 0, the numbers still bounce all over the place. Any help or idea is appreciated.
Hello, ! i am on Shaw, in eastern Central Alberta Canada. The dish, got moved in the wind, and requires re-aligning. The website, doesn't give very good elevation /azimuth / skew numbers for my area. Is there a way, to find them ? Thanks, for education. !
Hi @petersack5074 your elevation should be around 29 degrees, you will be pointing very close to straight south, and skew remains level. If you are unable to find the signal we may have someone close to your area that could do a service call for you.
Done this for awhile now.. But went thru an issue with a friend's dish. Had all my numbers lined up, but hitting 60 then it just went crazy going to 18 - 0 and other digits. But as far as 60.
Hey Jason, that sounds like an LNB or receiver issue...I would try another port on the LNB as there is 4, then if possible swapping in another receiver if they have one. Sometimes you can bring the receiver into a local retailer and they can check it out. These things can definitely be difficult to figure out, The other options is to call Shaw Direct(or online chat) and see if they have a service tech in the area. Hope this helps.
Glad we can assist, one thing I just caught is that the system is new...I've seen this lot's before were the map status is default to 4352....if you go into your menus and select "status" then select "system status" and look at line F(Map Status) If it ends in 4352 you can point that dish all day long and get nothing. The receiver needs to be pre loaded with a channel map. Usually it's 4321...a Shaw agent can preload the map for you if this is the case. this would make a good video, thanks for the idea:)
@@AllMediaServices1 hi yeah, thanks for the info. I ended up using my receiver, getting about 90 and stopped there..I then noticed that it was the new lnb that was at fault so I switched to their old lnb and it worked. All good. And thanks for the help.
Best tutorial I’ve seen yet, I wasted 2 hrs in chat yesterday got zero help
Sounds like a great explanation! I'm trying it!!

Which channel is the best one to tune the dish on?
Hey Gomer, 250,252,299 are ones we use…hope this helps.
Make sure there are washers on elevation with the bevel edge facing the scale and the same for your skew
Good tip Clarence👍

@@AllMediaServices1 hi thanks for getting back to me. Yes, I'll try that out. The receivers are new.

@@AllMediaServices1whitch one you where useing anikF2/anik G1/ anik FR1 anikF3
Got a link to that finder app, so many to choose from
Makes fine tuning easier and doesn’t mess up the paint so you can see the scale if you are cahanging locations east to west or north and south
I just got a new roof and the signal is out. Will Shaw charge me a realignment fee?
Only if you tell them that your dish is out of line because of the roof being done.
@@AllMediaServices1 thank you for replying. I didn't tell them about the roof and there is no fee🙂
The most fun part is the soft yelling betwenn you and your buddy. It's like kids trying to figure out toys 😀😃
I wish I could get Shaw Direct in the U.S. because I love Canadian T.V.
Or you could align it by watching it on tv. No signal? No alignment
Shaw dishes are great free to air satellite dishes get lots of great free channels
