While videos like this are fine for temporary installs such as for RVs, tailgating, camping, ect.
Should you really be recommending it for permanent residential installations?
Since unless you have an AIM meter or some other for dish alignment, you can't properly do the dither procedure to fine peak the dish on the Ka band signals (and possibly Reverse Band signals as well).
Thanks for the comment. This video is exactly that. A temporary fix to get their system receiving signal. For tailgating.. A "up north" property, for example. This is the basics and not even all the basics.
So do the brackets on all the DirecTV dishes mounted on the roof have that adjustable mounting arm? I can see the arm on my roof is at like a 45 degree angle. I want to take the dish off and use that arm for a ham radio antenna but I want the antenna to be 90 degrees. Before I climb up there I was wondering if I can just loosen and reposition that existing arm.

Hi. Thanks for the video. Question: i have one cable coming from the dish, then i split the signal to a) HD box and b) standar box. Using this setup, i lose some channels (SD and HD). Do i need to boost the signal with the power connection that you present in minute 15:00 of the video? Thanks
Are you using a DirecTV splitter? If not the splitter actually splits the signal causing each tv to read no signal

Hello, I have been installing Dish for quit sometime now. We are now also going to be installing Directv. With the dish pointer website I can easily figure out the elevation/ azimuth. The only thing I cant figure out/find anywhere is the tilt. For my area 98902 the Dish tilt was at 90 degrees. I need help with finding out directv’s tilt.
Traveling with dish and DVR. Setting up the dish on a tripod getting 80%+ on tuners but zero on transponders. Any suggetions please?

SearchingforSignalLLC pretty much lol the only no line of sight I get is at apartment complexes where they only allow the customer to have the dish mounted on the balcony so if they are facing north they don’t go in unfortunately.

How much time it takes to install one dish?
Each job is different but on average 1 hour to 2.5 hours for full install and activation.

You will need a coax to that room that us connected to your splitter.
I'm trying to set my satellite up I had the very old style from 2008 so my old one had two coaxs I'm putting in new one Slimline so what size did you say on coax?? Also I only got the roof mounts and short arm will it still work? Or do I need the other stuff.
Rg6 coax is optional.
Short mount will work providing you don't have trees or a steep roof in the way.
SearchingforSignalLLC. Can I just run the coax from satellite straight to the tv without the splitter?
Yes is you only have one receiver and that receiver is a h44, hr54, or genie 2. If not you will need a power supply as well. Still no splitter needed with one receiver.
What happens if you ardently unplug the directv AC Adapter even though it says do not unplug. How can I fix this

When i punch in zipcode for above link I get elevation ( I am guessing that is the height you are referring to at 38 degrees??) But, they don't list tilt which you say is 72 degrees. They have Azimuth at 211.1 degrees. Can you explain the difference and perhaps how to find tilt?

Tilt is negligible as a large difference. 70-72degrees will be just fine.

Yes. As long as you have the correct LNB and splitter.

You need a tuner to do it correctly.
They cost $500.00
Not if you have done it 500 times You can get a decent tuner for 15.00.

Don’t get Direct TV people AT&T has made it into a big fat rip off!! Go with anything but Direct TV!
DirecTV actually has one of the best basic channel packs, even if second+ year is 80$
My Mom has Basic and her bill is always over 100.00. We call constantly about the problems with connections, satellite sucks here.
