  • Riding a few laps on an old school moto track discussing my new 2023 Husqvarna TX300 Heritage Edition...it's 1983 all over again! I have always liked the new 2023 styling and the Heritage Edition models. Compared to the '23 KTM 300XC the '23 Husky radiator shrouds are smaller and don't extend as far forward. The Husky front fender is over 30mm narrower - again giving a smaller impression up front. The Husky seat is thinner which gives a lower overall seat height. I like the bend of the Pro Taper handlebars. From the seat and while riding all these subtle changes add up and give the '23 TX300 a smaller and more compact feel up front. It is noticeable. The TX300 air intake is on the left side cover so it has a little less intake noise and is more protected from the elements compared to the under the seat intake on the KTM 300XC. I will get some back to back rides with the '23 TX300 and '23 300XC and '23 Beta 300 Race Edition soon...stay tuned!
    More detailed thoughts on the engine and chassis below....
    The all new 300 TBI engine with electronic power valve and throttle body fuel injections sets the bar for big power and strong linear partial throttle response. With a white map (smoother power) and green map (quicker RPM build and more power up top) it is easy to change the character of the engine with the push of a button. This engine is fast and fun to ride with almost no vibration. It runs clean with Motorex 2-stroke oil mixed at 60:1 and premium pump gas.
    The chassis is a great combination of cornering and stability at speed with excellent ergos and the usual strong Brembo brakes. The stock AER forks work well especially after about 4~5 hours and if you take the time to dial in fork pressure and clicker settings for different conditions and rider weights. For off road riding I prefer the Comfort settings (and perhaps a click or two softer) in the forks and shock. The stock rear shock takes about 4~6 hours to break in and works well. I run clickers in the 18~20 range with HSC about 2.5 out. The stock 4.2 spring is a little soft for my 6'2" 190lb body and I have a 4.5 spring to install but the bike has been work so well I have little motivation to change it.
    Here is my 2023 KTM 300XC "Does it All" review from last fall....

    You got one! Awesome! I haven’t got to ride mine a lot yet- I’m not sure why but I got 2 flat tires in one day. Guess the factory tubes aren’t cut out for the Arizona desert. Any recommendations on tubes?

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Год назад

      Really enjoying my '23 TX300 Heritage Edition! Yes the OEM inner tubes are thin and lightweight and I usually run 14~15 psi pressure or I get pinch flats. I think any of the heavy duty inner tubes are more resistant to flats though some riders will notice the extra weight and rotational inertia of the wheels with HD tubes installed.

    Sounds great, looks good too. I really like the narrow shrouds and lower seat height.

      Yes this TX300 runs strong and I like the Husky styling. The small differences on the Husky are noticeable when riding it back to back with the 23 KTM 300 TBI

      @tonn333 Год назад

      @@mxengineer1 could you list those differences for future reference please?

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Год назад +1

      @@tonn333 Basically plastic styling. The front edge of the Husky radiator shrouds are smaller and do not extend as forward as the new '23 KTM radiator shrouds. The Husky front fender has a narrower width and simpler shape. The Husky seat is about 15mm thinner foam height. All of these add up and are noticeable as soon as you sit on the bike and while in motion - gives the Husky a slightly smaller feel. These differences are not performance related - just styling and ergos

    Man!!! Do I just LOVE the look of that bike!!! I'm 52 yrs old so possibly a touch older than you (maybe?) but I just love the old school look of that bike!!! I really wish they made ALL the Huskies like this. For the record, I despise the colors of the new Huskies with that dull grey and neon yellow....just terrible! LMAO This Heritage has proper color yellow and I love the blue (especially the seat) as well! Great bike!!!

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Год назад

      The latest grey/flo yellow colors of the 23 Husky models are polarizing: not sure why they go with with that color combo though the metallic blue frame color looks pretty good in person. I also really like the overall look of the Husky Heritage models....its 1983 all over again!

    How the power compare to your 300rr RE? Seem to run very crisp

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Год назад +1

      The 300 TBI engine in the '23 KTM/Husky 300 XC/TX is very responsive and quick while the Beta 300RE engine builds RPM's more slowly with a full flywheel feel and is just so easy to ride. Both very effective - just depends on what character you prefer. I've done a few back to back rides with the 300XC and 300RE...here is one of them...

    I have a question I weigh 75kg can I ride a ktm 250sxf??

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Год назад

      Riding skill is more important than weight in determining if you can (or should) be riding a certain model of motorcycle. Talk to a local motorcycle dealer (KTM one might be best) and see what their recommendation is on bikes for you. 75kg is perhaps near the target rider weight for a bike like the KTM 250SXF
