I lived at 31 Strornaway ST and 145 Torragay St. If anyone remembers me back in the '60s and '70s. Would like to catch up if anyone remembers the Brysons.
Got any recollection of "Big Eck" McFarlane from Torogay Street from around that era? Can't remember what number, but I don't think he would have been too far from where you were.
Hello Paul Fiana another great video Thankyou so much love your channel explaining what everything used to be and now what it’s changed to some beautiful houses and flats I used to visit in Milton arounds the 80s hope your cough is getting better as I heard you coughing still take care hope you and family keep well look forward to next time thankyou again 🙏👍.
Oh my daddy come from Northern Ireland and my mammy was born in Glasgow and she moved over to Northern Ireland when they got married I always wished they would move to Scotland when i was young but unfortunately we didn’t I love Scotland so much 🏴. Miss it so much people are more friendly and everything in Scotland 🏴.
Love it, ❤ brought up in possil but went to school at St Augustine’s. 70s. All gone now but didn’t get a mention, ? now living in Melbourne, my sister manages the one. O one shop you passed. Nice weather for winter 😊 Stuart.
Loved this too 😍 lived in Summerston but traveled every day to St.Aug’s, so sad to see it gone but nice to see the guys having space to play football. Didn’t move as far as Melbourne but down south near Portsmouth so it’s nice to get a cheeky wee look at what’s happening up the road. Marion 😄👍
St Augustine's School was opened in 1959 I believe, but I don't know when it closed. Most of my family went there. I left Glasgow in 1981 and as the Johnny Cash song says 'I've been everywhere man' and ended up in Canada. I think I remember that stolen car stuck in the close and another one burnt out in the middle of Liddesdale Square, although there were so many that were stolen, dumped and destroyed. Those were crazy times with plenty of nutters around even before the drugs ravaged the place! That said, there were lots of great, decent hard working people just trying to do the best for themselves and their families. No doubt there still are. Thanks for the video.
Great video bud. I used to go to aw they places, chirnside primary, scaraway nursey etc when i worked wi Rentokil Initial. Met some really cracking down to earth lovely people 👍👍👍
Just subscribed, I live in Cardiff but love watching drive through videos of other uk city’s. Those new builds won’t last long, I moved out of one last year, it was falling apart at only 12 years old
@@ROUTEPLANNERPAUL That's for sure, my friend lives in a really beautiful area, very expensive houses, there are houses selling there for over £600,000. Recently he told me a story about someone there throwing sht at someone else's door just because they thought they were looking in their window as they walked past. Nice houses and beautiful area don't necesarily mean nice people. Majority of the people are really nice tbh but as you said good and bad everywhere. BTW I am originally from Clydebank. Was born in Vale of Leven hospital and parents lived in Clydebank. My own first flat was the red road flats, then the kingsway....then to cumbernauld. Now I am in north Ayrshire. Sad but have to mention the red road flats were really clean and nice when I lived there. Neighbours were great on the landing, concierge as well. But place went down hill some time after I left. I gone back there to check place out again some years after I moved away, I litterally had a tear in my eye seeing how bad it looked. Even the wee housing office where I got the keys of my flat was left to wreck and ruin. But I suppose they knew they would be coming down soon so didn't bother. Apologies for going slightly off topic. Hope that's ok. Got to add when I lived with my parents they moved around a lot, didn;t stay in same place too long. It was becuase of my dad though, he always ended up falling out with someone over car parking spaces. So I lived in a lot of places all over Glasgow.
It was High Possil in 1800's, l9ng before Milton was built, when Liddesdale Road went straight through at the square. We said High Possil for a joke, as we used original phone number BIS-hopbrigs 773* to impress shop assistant, Bishopbriggs or Spam Valley was easily one up on Milton lol.

I don't think Milton proper was ever called High Possil. Not in the last 60+ years anyway.
Look it up
