The very thought of a 3+ coach journey gives me the shivers yet you are cheers as you get off a 10.5 hour journey with 1 hours sleep - hats off to you Scott!
Laughed so hard at your description of the poor woman’s luggage 😂 If you can’t book a seat I would be dubious about using the bus if I was using it to get to the cruise port. Thanks for the video.
Ach and there was me thinking you were about to jump on the Queen Mary II across to New York! Imagine starting that crossing via Megabus! Well done on another brutal overnighter mate, and again, I've got to say it, you were looking too fresh the next morning!
I love those "Parkway" stations. It sounds so delightful, a leafy avenue shaded by ancient oaks, when it actually means "park way" out in the sticks in some ungodly wasteland and get a rammed and ancient excuse for a train to civilisation.
Scott, you know the beauty of subscribing to your channel and to Steve's is that one moment I am on an overnight coach to Southampton and next I'm on the Manx Electric Railway!, keep up the great work
Thanks Scott for another great adventure. I once had to prod them to refund a cancelled journey. They did so, but needed a prod first. I find National Express seats more comfortable, but it’s personal preference I guess. Thanks again, Tim
Hi Scott, we (me my wife and two young kids) done this same trip in June when we were going on our cruise. In fact the driver who got off to let you off drove out bus!! It was great value for money, only £100 for the four of us, where flights were going to be £1400!! To be honest the journey went by really quick and the kids enjoyed it too
Hi Scott, been bingewatching your videos lately and you've inspired me to take a convoluted journey to Zurich this week and my first ever flixbus. As a side note, i live in Newbury, had no idea we had a megabus to Southampton and the smashed up bus stop just about sums up what there is to see here, still a huge surprise to see you passing through! Cheers
saw you at the stance that night, i was waiting for the Flixbus to Birmingham, was wondering where you were off to.... remember watching that woman with her luggage, not surprised she wasn't allowed on, that bag was about the same size as the bus!!
Scott you were very complimentary about Felix bus they left me stranded in Leipzig at 6am when they should of been taking me to Berlin Airport so I Missed my flight and had no choice book again with Felix to London the good people in the office gave me 13 euros in compensation and gave me a mouthful for complaining...then had to check back into the hostel and spend all day in bed because i was sick eventually boarding the bus about 10pm to be met by 2 Eastern European driver's who were so rude so thanks FLIX for a memory I'll never forget ❤️
What a journey. A while back I finished work in Dundee at just after 7pm. Next meeting was Eastbourne 4pm next day. Nothing booked so train to Glasgow. Flight to Heathrow. Tube(s) to Waterloo. No trains so bus to Eastbourne. Got there 2pm so booked into day room. Power nap then local bus to meeting.
I traveled from Southampton to Edinburgh stopping at Glasgow first 12&half hours in 2005 on national express absolutely no problems never used mega bus only used city link from Glasgow to Edinburgh and city link gold from Glasgow to Inverness no problems and full WiFi
I remember when i traveled to Manchester to Glasgow on one of these buses it was a nightmare worse 4 half hours which i said i would never do again, your bonkers traveling that long on the bus, leg room looks so small,
Security staff probably moonlighting Lol got mega bus from Liverpool to Manchester on Friday dayreturn late that night as an early flight . Brilliant value £6.13 return 🤗.
I might consider catching this service to Preston, as its difficult to get cheap train tickets to Oxford or Southampton. Dunno about being at Preston bus station at 3am though lol.
I used this service a few months back. I didn’t get the same bus as you but a citylink double decker like on the 900 service. We had to swap buses at bothwell services. This service only runs at the weekend over night southbound and during the day north bound. I have also done the overnight Cardiff to Glasgow service
I travel between Glasgow and London every week for work and I wouldn’t touch Megabus. It’s National Express every time for me. It always runs on time and I now know all the drivers and they’re always friendly. In addition if some numpty starts playing up they throw them off at the next stop
Why are Mega Bus coaches so much more plush then more expensive operators like National Express, the mood lighting and comfort seems so much better then other companies!
I don't understand this from megabus, it's 9 hours and 45 minutes from my Newcastle-upon-Tyne to Southampton City centre (was going to use it when we had Southampton away) If you get the one at 00:55 it's 12 hours and 20 minutes there is 1 hour and 10 minutes wait in Birmingham Brunel Street. Glasgow is about 2 n half hours drive from Newcastle.
Family and I won a mini cruise from Southampton a couple of years ago. Flew to Southampton wearing Italy tops, same day as England were playing Italy in Euro 2020 final. Driver dropped us off at that shopping mall you got off at. 2 young kids, a buggy and a suitcase. Wasn't the easiest getting from there to the cruise terminal! I wonder why he dropped us there 😂
Ha, I saw the very same Facebook advert and it grabbed my attention as I'm going on the QM2 next summer and will need to get from Scotland to Southampton. I'd normally fly but my rules for this particular journey, which will end in Victoria Canada, are to use surface transport all the way. After seeing the video I can safely say that the Glasgow-Southampton leg of that journey will be by.........train. Overnight bus? Forget it.
Sorry if I'm the 91st person to point it out, but Bicester is pronounced "Bister". And before you criticise the pronunciation of southern place names, I'm pretty sure there are just as weirdly pronounced Scottish place names!
UK transport is appalling. Few night's ago it took me 7 hours to get back from Liverpool to London on train. They said it was 'signal' failure, as usual.
Did you use any of the ferries? From Southampton to Hythe there is a ferry which then connects with a narrow guage railway along Hythe Pier. Amazing old thing. If you go to the Isle of Wight then there is a chain ferry across the river (if its working). You get an hour on that ship admiring the cruise liners and the oil refinery.
Thanks for another fantastic video. You are incredible ! How do you do it ! As a teen I used to do this sort of thing but now I am at a similar age to you now, no way would I want to do this. Thank you so very much for making these trips so we can enjoy them and still get a full nights sleep.
That lousy customer service from Megabus would mean an instant boycott from me. Clearly running the joint on a shoestring. Great video though, classic Scott long distance coach misery!
Some passengers always try it on with Luggage on National Express..The times at heathrow i have had to refuse travel because they have to many bags or are two heavy and won't pay the extra ....and it's always the drivers fault
Hi Scott glad the mega bus worked out for on this trip. I enjoyed the video. Hopefully you got to see a bit of my home city Oxford. Take care looking forward to the next instalment
When I was 17 and poor I went from Buchanan bus station to Cap d’Agde to stay in a tent for 2 weeks. Then did the return journey. It was also September and the end of season. Greatest holiday ever though I remember listening to the Scotland wales game on radio and celebrating the victory but not knowing till we got back that Jock Stein had died.
I don't think the Harbour stop is really in the Harbour. It is outside on an access road. Trouble is that cruises go from any of about 5-6 different terminals which are not particularly close to each other. Ironically, You were dropped off in Harbour Parade though,
Why would you want to travel for so long going to that place on the south coast? It doesn't have a harbour, only a port. Whereas the pride of the south, Portsmouth, has both.
Well, at least they dropped you off at West Quay Retail Park, so if you are going on a cruise with a couple of suitcases, how do you get to the Cruise Terminal?
Nice vlog there Scott! I did a recent trip on Megabus (operated by McLean Coaches) from Edinburgh to London and it wasn't a good experience. Cheap enough, but not good.
I too would firmly suggest that item. Obviously, everyone is different, height wise, so not everyone will fit the usual seats on long distance coaches. Thus neck cushions, either as an inflatable version or the ones filled with hundreds of micro-beads which mould around the neck or head, are invaluable.
What a coincidence - saw M17 Megabus to Glasgow leaving Oxford Parkway this morning. Wondered then if it was worth a try sometime, although I think I'd have to be really pushed to do it. Great vlog as always. And you can always get your own back by asking how Milngavie is pronounced. 😂
The comment about the lady trying to take 6 million bags on the coach is so accurate. Everytime i have travelled from london Victoria coach station you see families with like 4 large suitcase each person having not paid any extra trying to convince other passengers to take them on for them. Could you imagine if they tried that in an airport. I feel sorry for the drivers who have to put up with it.
It's always the drivers fault and we are just being awkard....I used to get them to bring their ticket up on their phone or paper copy and show them the not so small print regarding luggage
People with large amount of luggage: I had the same when traveling from London to Manchester in early June on a night bus (there was a railway strike so the bus was full). A big guy barged past me in the queue and he had a massive trunk which probably weighted at least 30kg. The bus driver warned him that this is not allowed (and suddenly he pretended not to understand English) but let him on anyway. On the bus, that was an idiot who was talking on his phone with the speaker on at full volume, so I could not get any rest. Never again.
Another great video as usual. If you think not being able to book a specific seat on the bus is bad, you should try Bus Eireann's service from Donegal Town to Dublin via Dublin Airport! You can't even book a ticket. You simply turn up and if it's full you miss your flight!
At Maga bus your only allowed 20KG 1 big bag 1 small bag if you have a bag over 20KG then it’s a £5 charge if you have more then 2 bags then you will be charged the same just to let you no as I work at the Edinburgh stands
15k views. Who needs an ethiad suite when we can travel with scott on megabus. I would love to take you to disney world. not for the parks just to show you all the transportation.
This is another above and beyond the call of duty trip Scott. You need a nice relaxing train or ship journey!
The very thought of a 3+ coach journey gives me the shivers yet you are cheers as you get off a 10.5 hour journey with 1 hours sleep - hats off to you Scott!
What a snowflake 😂 a journey over 3 hours on a cocah gives you SHIVERS!!?? Man up ffs
Used to catch the bus from the north of Germany to Glasgow numerous times. Way before flights were cheap.
Laughed so hard at your description of the poor woman’s luggage 😂
If you can’t book a seat I would be dubious about using the bus if I was using it to get to the cruise port. Thanks for the video.
Ach and there was me thinking you were about to jump on the Queen Mary II across to New York! Imagine starting that crossing via Megabus! Well done on another brutal overnighter mate, and again, I've got to say it, you were looking too fresh the next morning!
I was in my kip within minutes of arriving home. Southampton definitely deserves a closer look!
@@PlanesTrainsEverything Did you get on the same coach and go back to Scotland?
@@PlanesTrainsEverything I live in Southampton, I would recommend the Maritime museum and maybe the tudor house amongst others.
Ah Scott you've fallen for a classic English place name trap ! Bicester is in fact 'Biss-ter'. Great video 👍
Beat me to that!
🤪I hope that was a joke Scott
Actually I always thought it was pronounced as he did in the video until quite recently when I was watching something on TV. 😂
I think we should get Scott to go to Leominster next 😉
Towcester always makes me chuckle 😆

You are a brave man scott but great vlog as usual
Glad that the 3rd time was the semi-charm for you. Getting yelled at for helping another passenger is a fine kick in the arse, thanks.

That's neat! Never knew they did a direct service from Glasgow to Southampton
Only started in June. Only runs a few days a week
Thanks for another video, that is a long journey to me!
Thanks scott enjoyed as allways
Great video Scott, stay safe and well.
A baby was found in a handbag is Stratford train station
Good old West Quay close to home at that one
Thank you Scott, you may just have found a way for this channel to finally visit Paulton's Park!
I love your dry Scottish wit Scott.
I just saw my old house!!
Very enjoyable video. I must take more coach journeys
Love your videos, Scott. Wondering if the coach or rail companies ever see your videos and respond? Thanks, from Canada!
Love your video's Scott

Why are Mega Bus coaches so much more plush then more expensive operators like National Express, the mood lighting and comfort seems so much better then other companies!
@derektaylor2941 yeah your not wrong apart from that not actually being a stagecoach bus

Buddy I think you and should go from Scotland to London in a train race one on lner the other on the new company Buddy from Alan in the hun 😉
Try pronouncing Cirencester correctly and Chester Le Street.

When I took the service in July it dropped off further towards the dock for the isle of wight
I enjoy your videos, but you always seem to ride the bus in the dark. Why no daytime bus rides?
I always travel with my kitchen sink! Not!
Would be great if he could start telling us how much these journeys cost
He did, 44 seconds in but I'm not going to tell you 😛
Did you get the flight back?
RUclips algorithms working as there was a ad for Flix Bus 🙂
Nice vlog there Scott! I did a recent trip on Megabus (operated by McLean Coaches) from Edinburgh to London and it wasn't a good experience. Cheap enough, but not good.
Was that the M11x?
@@s125ish It was a 22:15pm Megabus service from Edinburgh to London via Glasgow.

Thus neck cushions, either as an inflatable version or the ones filled with hundreds of micro-beads which mould around the neck or head, are invaluable.
Buses are hell on earth now thanks to those muppets, screaming loudly on their smartphones throughout the journey! (especially on night trips)
Surely nobody rich enough to go on a cruise would get an overnight Megabus to Southampton, but people getting the ferry to the Isle of Wight... might.
I can think of better places to go to than Southampton, it is a dump.
Scott, have you thought about this trip using other companies?
its pronounced bister
Tbh if your paying £00000000000,oooosss for a cruise you would not use a coach service … sorry …. 😢
Hope you're better at pronouncing Cockburn than you are at pronouncing Bicester!

No.

For a travel vlogger you really have no clue.
A marathon Scott was there no toilet breaks ?? Or did I miss it ❤
I'm sure bus drivers have to stop every 2 hours so I break could be incorporated then
You're just a bus stop in Newbury 🎶 🎵 And a pretty dismal one at that
Right darling, I've book a cruise because I love you so much.
But first, let go a little bus journey.
😂😂😂
Good to know as I have family in Scotland and Southampton and often wonder the best way to travel between the two.
Do you no where the Megabus Birmingham to Southampton airport runs as the service you were on I thought calls at Southampton airport?
