It seemed a bargain too good to be true. Fly with Ryanair from Ibiza to Valencia for just £1.99. Was there a catch? Not with the airfare, but there was a complication on arrival at Valencia.

In the noughties, my daughter managed to get a Ryanair flight for 1 cent, to southern France. The return fare was something like €50 but she was going to university so didn't need a return flight for a few months and just bought the single fare.

Cheapest Ryanair flight I have ever purchased was £0.01 including tax. Around 2010 Ryanair launched tons of new destinations in the same time and this flight was between Dublin and Pisa one way and £0.02 return. I think I still got the email :-)
Cheapest flight I ever had was London to Singapore on Air Canada in 1987 and back, cost £0.00 (my Dad worked for Air Canada) the catch, I got bumped off during the stopover in Bombay (as it was then) as I was deemed to be on a staff ticket and they had paying customers. I had to sit it out for 3 days while the flight went BOM-LHR-YYZ-LHR-BOM-SIN-BOM so I had another attempt to get back on, lol
Really disappointing for me was when I had a flight from Eindhoven in Netherlands on 8 AM and I realized that bus shuttle to the airport doesn't run before 8. It's a second-largest airport in the country and they don't even have shuttles for their first flights of the day.
On Sundays? Been like that for years. Bus operators Bravo/Hermes/Connexxion and City Council/gemeente won't organise it.

Wasn't surprised that the taxi/bus to the airport was ten times more expensive.
I also like the fact, that all the Spanish airports look the same and are very clear.
They are all owned by the same state agency, AENA, which uses standardised signage etc to achieve this. Works very well! There used to be one private airport in Spain, Ciudad Real - Madrid airport (bit of ryanair style advertising as it isnt in Madrid) but it closed to passengers years ago and no idea if they followed the theme but id imagine not.
That airline you see is "HOP!" a subsidiary of Air france often used as a regional carrier in place of their Airbus aircraft and often used on short haul quiet routes.
The mystery airline was Hop! by AirFrance. Hop are AirFrance's regional subsidiary

Had a day trip to Poland once on ryanair for 4 euro 10 yrs ago. Dublin to Bydgoszcz, then a train to Poznan and back to Dublin for match of the day.

Fun little video Scott. I've searched domestic flights in Spain and my eyes have almost popped out at some of the Ryanair & Vueling prices on the base fares!
I flew to Venice Marco Polo last summer for £24.99 . The flight was late and landed after midnight. Never mind buses, there wasn’t even any taxis! I ended up walking 3 miles to my hotel in near 30deg heat. Got there at 2.30 am

I did this very same return flight in 2018, but the return fare was 74.98 Euros on Ryanair. It was July, so hardly surprising. Also, I was allocated Ryanair's dreaded 'middle seat' but since the flight is only around 30 minutes long, it didn't really matter. Nice one Scott, sorry about the metro situation, it's a great system when it does operate!
Why is it dreaded? It’s bigger seat and pitch than British Airways Eurofleet(who are always late). I prefer flying directly into Stansted or Luton than in a holding pattern over London for 20 mins and then taking another 30 to taxi to the gate. Then wait ages in T5 arrival hall crossing your fingers it’ll even be there. I’d pick Ryanair any day.

Compared to opening the pub, Ryanair letting you board sounds like the worst case scenario.

You should have watched Cheap Flights by the wonderful Fascinating Aida before booking your trip, I suspect it is aimed at Ryan Air.
My cheapest round flight few years ago was for 0,99 PLN from Poland to Germany. And at that time £1 was fo 6,5 PLN

Interestingly, Dublin IE, would have been the same up until about 1/2 years ago. Dublin Bus/Go Ahead would have stopped at midnight, private/taxi after that. Now the 42 runs 24/7, if you went to Cork you might be in trouble into the late/early hours!

I traveled on Ryanair for 1p a lot.of times nothing new. Stansted still the home of Ryanair still the best short haul airline. They might only do 4.99 now plus they will make it back some way in a bag or a beer on board but they give a bloody good choice. 👍 cheers to travelling for everyone can do it

I want cheap flights full stop.....Start giving people a good price..you'll fill seats every flight!.10 people at £100 is better than 3 people at £200..I want cheaper fights to Japan.....but the prices are silly and not likely to come down anytime soon.......I have just returned from Japan..and so want to go again..but the flights cost so much..On the way back..each person on the flight in my section had 3 seats each!..I had a window seat and the 2 next to me..clear access to the isle...The woman in the middle had all the seats to herself..and the guy over at the other window had the same as me...Everyone in that part of the aircraft had the same!.

just to mention if you arrive late in Amsterdam skipol (I know I spelled it wrong my apologise), There is only one train that leaves at 12 midnight i believe that will get you to Maastricht via Sittard wheremy da is from. But that is what happens traveling in the wee hours of the morning ;).

A lot of things are a bit annoying in life. But easily forgotten. If he objected on principle, he could have waited for the first public transport of the day. At that price, you can be sure it won't put him off doing exactly the same thing again.
Scott, come to NZ or Aussie. Air New Zealand and Qantas will be only too happy to take your life savings plus you may even have to morgage your house LOL

I went from East Mids to Berlin for £4 return in 2016 - technically yours is cheaper adjusting for inflation but maybe not in pence per mile :D

Once bought Ryanair from East mids to knock west Ireland 4 tickets at 99p each bought then looked at hotels costs about 100 pounds per person, sod it only remembered when at a football game when it reminded me of final boarding

Cheapest flight i had was via skyscanner. Luton to Oslo return for £1. Flew with Ryanair. Asked a few friends. Took the 07:20 flight out and 23:10 return do no hotel cost.
I wondered if your £1.99 destination was going to be Valentia Island in western Ireland.

1.99; just how can it be possible? even to cover the cost of the fuel to your destination?. Just think of it, if every passenger had only their carryon and all booked the advertised price months ahead, then Ryanair would need to declare bankruptcy.

I kept guessing until the end. I thought you might have screaming kids sat next to you or upon arrival you have to wait an hour or so to disembark or that your luggage didn't arrive with you. Since I didn't know the time, I didn't have no public transport on my list!

This flight round trip on Google flights is $15 (£12.54). The catch? Friday March 24th return Sunday March 26th and two separate airlines Vueling departure Ryanair return.
I remember in the 2000s I regularly got 1p flights each-way to ALC before the UK government introduced horrendous ADP taxis. Ryanair now make a lot of their money thru ancillary services, like baggage and on-board products. Ryanair are still amazing, you’ve just got to know how their model works. They have a zero fatality record which is enviable considering their fleet size ~ 450 aircraft over decades.
Do they not have Uber or local mini taxi numbers at Valencia airport? Just need to do your research. You made out in your video title was about Ryanair, not Aena, the monopoly airport operator in Spain. I’ve noticed in your past videos you do this for clickbait

Will not fly Ryanair again, period. Flight cost doubled after they added on the credit card surcharge (single transaction, 4 tickets, 4 surcharges). Would have been happy enough with the cost if it had all been included, but it was the sneaky method they used.
Prestwick to Dublin, carry on luggage. 3 opportunities to check the weight, but they waited until boarding so your choice was lose your luggage or get the next flight, at whatever cost that would be. I had checked my weight before I left, so knew it was ok, but thought the way they did it was disgusting. GIRFUY, Ryanair!
If you stick by Ryanair's rules, there's nothing sneaky. Flown with them 100s
of times and they tend to be the airline with the least surprises and best time keeping.

I think you made a few mistakes. Budget airlines rarely start and land from the standard hubs. That's what you don't pay for. What you called a fare is only a very small downpayment for the costs you contributed to by speeding up climate change. The cheaper now, the more you will pay later. Unfortunately, people who did not waste CO2 will also have to pay, same as future generations. Ever heard of après nous, le déluge?

Incredible value... I cannot get anywhere on public transport in the UK for less than that... even one stop or two!
I mean we have had 2 quid for any journey on a bus for months, but technically you are correct.

I worked in Valencia for 4 years and while I was there I flew to Ecuador for a cycling holiday. On return, I took my boxed bike on the Metro from Valencia Airport to Serreria (where I lived) and one of my fellow-passengers made a big scene about what right I had to take such a large box on a Metro train! All the other passengers were laughing their heads off! Both stations are at opposite ends of the same line, it was easy.
I can just picture the scene! Ps I've been living next to the Metro Grau-La Marina for two years... Serreria is very close by - two stops away. 😇

Ok I have to admit, the taxi fare wasn’t the catch I was expecting! Still cheap trip in total though, not even the worst seat on the flight
I got 3x 3p tickets in 2001 for me, the wife and the mother-in-law Stansted to Venice... + 3x £10 airport tax. I think the bus from the airport to Venice was euro2.5 each? We trained around north east Italy, finishing in Rome. The return flight was 3x euro150, so no bargain. I did manage to get LHR to Rome for £77 approx return in 2000. It was a Lufthansa ticket, but I forget who operated the flight.
You've not landed at Gatwick after 11.30pm then! No public transport either. Mind you, it is expected to all be crap in Britain, we're a totally dysfunctional country now, a world-wide joke!

Scott, a warning to all. However, when I visited Valencia a few years ago, I realised that the metro/ buses close early. So I stayed at a comfortable hotel which you can walk to from the airport. You can see it from the airport but a bit of a round about route. However, I was flying from LGW and certainly did not pay Pds 1.99! Breakfast was in a nice cafe (hotel gave me a voucher) around the corner the next morning which was used by locals and it was good. I then took took the metro to the city of Valencia.
Nice tips to book hotels near the airport.

Sounds like trying to get from BR Prudhoe to Prudhoe town centre. The buses are supposed to meet the trains but they dont. You have a 30 minute walk up (or down) a very steep hill. Its not easy going either.
I had 6 1 euro flights with Ryan air in there latest sale via Skyscanner all went ok as I was not carrying luggage etc .
