We moved to spain 19 years ago and would not move back we are in land about ahour from alicante almansa if you get a spanish solicitor in the area you want to live i they will do all the paper work for you as all your english paper work has to be translated in to spain to get residency now
Nice video. One thing you didn't mention was language proficiency. I assume you could already speak some Spanish before you moved? Or did I miss that bit? We're coming out in Feb for a look around Alicante and a bit further south down the coast. Should be interesting. Thanks for the great videos.

We don’t speak a lot of Spanish, enough to order food, buy tickets, and shop, but we are learning I understand written Spanish not too badly, but they speak so fast it’s still like Alien! If you are moving to south Alicante you will not need Spanish as nearly everyone speaks English, even non British expats
@@CaldonianDude we did the same in October 2022 and spent 2 weeks in a hotel in Guardamar, a great base to explore all the urbanisations in the area. We set up viewing days with a load of local estate agents, they collected us and returned us to our hotel

@@thomaswilliams7888 hi Thomas. We also found second hand cars expensive, that’s really why we bought new, and of course we got the full new car warranty I’m not sure how new cars compare, but I think we got a great deal on a new Renault Cleo.
Hi. Good informative video. Not sure if you’ll see this but if you do I’d like to know more about your TIE appointment please. It sounds like you need to speak a level of Spanish if it was all in Spanish? Was the interviewer kind and patient? I was hoping they’d speak some English for those who weren’t quite up to speed yet 🥴
Hi, thank you for your comments. Getting the TIE appointment is the hardest part at the moment, many areas only release a few appointments every day so you grab them while you can. Ours were all arranged for us by @Upsticks
The interview itself was very simple, although there was a long queue waiting to get in! Providing you have all the correct papers it only takes a few minutes and they did speak English . They take a photo for the id card and fingerprints too. We needed to go back a month later to collect our cards, no appointments required for this , just wait in the queue again

We love it you get up in the winter and it’s sunny not like rainy England where we live it’s dry air so you do not suffer with the damp like you do in England as I have a bad back

Hola Phil! Sue is from Bridgend. Our plan was we were going to do the 90/180 for 5 years until we retired, but each time we went back it got harder to leave our apartment. So we bit the bullet and sold our house and moved here 💯. Best thing we ever did, you never know what’s going to happen, so we’re making the most of life while we can
@@getmetospainwe live in Maesteg but worked in Bridgend, my wife Sue as a nurse in POW hospital and I worked in the engine plant, I’ve spoken to Chris as I’m quite keen but my wife is ‘on the fence’🫣🏴👍🌴
@ Sue was in POW when it first opened, before she retired she worked for Welsh Blood Service in Llantrisant. I was self employed as an energy assessor doing mainly EPCs
We're in an odd situation in that I have an EU passport (and UK passport), but my partner only has a UK passport - so I suspect she may need an NLV. Solid info on this situation seems hard to find, so I'm going to have to consult a professional at some point.
@ do give Chris at Upsticks a message, he offers a free consultation phone call, I think you might both be ok as your wife can be attached to your EU passport. But definitely worth checking, and an awful lot easier

@ as I remember we spoke to Jeremy before we started the NLV process
@ lol, yes still swimming before breakfast, usually about 7.15am. Pool temperature is 17c, was 31c in July & August
