  • Purchased this hose reel cart at Northern Tools. Several reviews referenced the clarity of the instructions so I thought I would take advantage of my purchase to help out other shoppers if possible.

    You saved me on this one. I was totally confused-- Ironton should pay you and put this on their web site instead of the useless instructions.

    I just got one from Rural King and paid $69.99. 5/5/2020. This is the same one you have there from Ironton. I did not use the wheels and mounted mine to an outside wall. Saved the 4 wheels, axles, and handle. My instructions where in the trash, I did not use them, they are useless instructions. So far I'm very happy, went together easy and I saved Money and it is cheaper that the ones they sell that mount on the wall.

    I wonder if the split pipe with bolts holding it as a joint isn't a manufacturing decision to be able to break the frame down to fit in a smaller shipping box.

    Thank you for the video- couldn’t figure out the hose brace either. Glad I wasn’t alone!

    This cut probably at least an hour off my assembly, if I would have went by those directions that came out the box it would have taken a couple of hours. Thanks for your help and I'm putting this video on the northern tool site where I bought this so everyone can refer to it.

    My U bracket (13 in the hardware list) is not perfectly flat on one side. I have to get a replacement to tighten the bolt.

    The instal was a little bit confusing. This video helped me with those extra parts. Especially that one with the screw hole bracket. I thought it was gna be a lot more sturdy heavier duty. I think it’s ok for home use. I wouldn’t recommend for commercial use. Also my biggest thing I didn’t like is that it’s hard to turn. Wish either the front or back had turn wheels on them. Would make it easier to turn especially on grass

    like you, i didn't find assembly particularly difficult. but how has yours held up? the center supply pipe on mine literally exploded under pressure after only a few uses. company was absolutely horrible to deal with re: warranty replacement. i noticed too the center drum had already started to corrode from the inside out after only a few uses. and mine has always been garage stored after each use. not good. i finally got a replacement unit from them but don't have high hopes. classic case of you get what you pay for i suppose. hopefully you've had better luck.

      So far it's been ok. I do have some rusting and slight leaks but have been fortunate the nothing has gone out completely. I have about 200' of hose on mine

    Definitely a candidate for the "worst instructions of the year" award.
    My instructions showed the additional joint-strentheners... but also showed the showed the crank hub already attached. Basically had to build everything else out to see what bolts were extra, that I could use to attach the bracket. It was 2 extra #2 Carriage bolts, used in step 9, to attach the handle to the vertical posts. Cheers!

    Although I tighten the two bolts on the Handle (F in the parts list) I still have a little wobble/play in it. Is that normal?

    • @keithburwell
      @keithburwell  3 года назад

      Mine has always had a slight wobble to it, yes..

  • @ericswitzer8360

    It looks like you've got the center hose hub lined up with the wrong holes and is likely the reason you had to squeeze the bracket together to make it fit. It need to move over one set of screw holes. If you notice, the hose connector pieces is directly in line with the reel fins. I'm not sure how you got your hose connected with how its shown in the video but the hose connector should fall between two sets of fins to make connecting/disconnecting the hose simple. This also makes the screw holes for the connector bracket match up perfectly.
    Thanks for the video, I would've never been able to make it through the instructions without it.

      You are correct sir. When I finished installing everything I went to place the hose on and said wait... what did that person's comment say. After rereading this comment and removing 3 screws and repositioning the part , it was placed perfectly! Thanks for the additional tip! Kathy
