- Don’t clutter your pickup bed with a huge toolbox. Hide all your tools inside the cab under your rear seat. You don’t use that space anyway so take advantage of it!

Don’t want to build one? Now you can buy one!

I have one, the Deezee is extremely cheaply made. Pretty disappointing how cheap it is put together, especially for a $500 item
What an ingenious invention. We took an 80 day road trip and it was such a pain to take everything off the seat to get to the storage under the seat? Thank you Sssooo much for sharing
"Tools that fire projectiles." lmao that is a great explanation without getting demonetized.
I love my WeatherTech under seat storage that I put in my F-150. However, this is SWEET with the slide out feature, especially considering you don't have to lift the seat up to access your stuff. Thank you for the video!!
I had my doubts with that thin wood, but I was actually impressed with the end result.
same
Makes me appreciate my Ram that already has under seat storage plus 2 storage bins in the floor under the mat from the factory. I have tons of recovery gear and tools in there. Nice work though. Where there's a will, there's a way. I'm sure by now you know how valuable that space is. My only other suggestion would be to come up with a way to put longer objects in there (over 2 ft). Perhaps 2 different size drawers, or leave the rear of the drawer and partition shorter and level to allow a a triangular gap where something longer could be placed in there sticking over into the next compartment. I stow a crow bar, breaker bar and a monster adjustable wrench under there (all stuff to work on suspension if needed).
One important item that really should be considered is to secure the toolbox (really any heavy item) so it doesn't become a potential source of injury in an accident or quick maneuver. An emergency stop has the potential for this loaded toolbox to slide into the feet of the rear passengers.
Good point. It can be secured to the seat mounts with a cable or chain. I went the simple route of just making a 3 sided wall to keep things tucked under the seats and simply bungee corded the contraption to the seat mounts.
It’s about time someone is utilizing all the wasted space in vehicles. I hope to see your products on the shelf one day👍
I detail cars for a living, and today I seen someone build something like this! He custom fabricated everything specifically for his truck! I told him how cool that was, and I need one! Now fast forward about 10 hours. I think I need to start making one! Also, great video! Will be subscribing to see more content!
That’s just awesome! I’ve written comments to RUclips videos maybe twice in the last many years, but I felt compelled to write my 3rd to this one. Fantastic job! I have been looking for the solution to the same problem, and you nailed. Hopefully it comes back to you with the reward you deserve for being such an innovator! Simply amazing. Great job!!
Thanks! It’s going into production soon!

Beautiful! Can't wait to build one for my 2020 F-150. Didn't realize there was so much space under those seats. Thanks!
Awesome project! One safety point for folks who will have passengers not in carseats: consider running tie-down straps to hold it in place during emergency stops. 20 pounds of stuff in a 20 pound box can easily break legs. We had a local child fatally injured by a 5 pound plastic speaker in a collision a few years back. Flew off the package shelf and crushed her skull.
I just built this for my F250 over the weekend. I made it a touch wider and longer. Fricken awesome! Man, you should make a patent!
Do you know how much it costs for a patent? 20 years ago it was $50,000!
@@SuperSpecialty It's a lot less than than. U.S. PTO has a listing of fees www.uspto.gov/learning-and-resources/fees-and-payment/uspto-fee-schedule#Patent%20Fees I'm not a great builder... and I don't have a workshop... and I could really use one of those for my truck!
Do you have dimensions/plans for this?
I used really sturdy plastic planter boxes that were just the right length. I added a simple backer piece to the seat rails and then some disconnects to the planter boxes. It is just as durable as those $100 plastic boxes. I often lift my seats and need to remove the boxes due to an older dog. These are really nice and a great video for 4 door trucks. I have the Ex cab.
Great solution!
Wow that is the best under seat storage I've ever seen for our trucks! I'd honestly order one from you tonight!!
Thanks for sharing this great idea and design. I made one for my F150 using slightly thicker wood so my drawers are a bit smaller but still big enough to be useful.
My right ear loved the intro
GREAT VIDEO AND A GREAT IDEA.....I BUILT A FEW SIMULAR BOXES WITH DRAWERS FOR MY S-10 BLAZERS SEVERAL YEARS AGO.....BUT I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE LATCHES THAT YOU USED.....KEEP THE GOOD VIDEOS COMING.....
i love this idea. i think i'm going to use 7/16 osb for the box and some gutters for drawers. ty for this idea.
One thing you could add is tiny feet (strips) on the bottom that fit into the slots in the floor mat to prevent a forward slide.
In a world of the aftermarket I haven’t seen this kind of storage system anywhere , what a great idea ! . I feel ya better throw a patent on it soon . Cheers
The Tundra has like 15 aftermarket versions of this (but they don't go back to the back wall of the truck, because of seatbelt mounts).
check out Du ha systems.. been around for years
SWEET!!!!!👍 my next project is that. As a carpenter & a commercial equipment tech,
I got this, plus just about half the materials already yeeeehaww
I just bought a aluminum locking box and bolted it under my back seat. Cheaper and stronger than all the plastic "storage" open top options.
I have been looking for this solution for years!!!! Thank you!
Great idea! I've 2X car seats in the back of my F150 and have been looking to re-claim some storage from my kids endless crap
Awesome build! You've inspired me to go for it
What a smart and skilled man. Way to go! Wish you were my neighbor.
Good project, good job using that dead space. You had me when you threw that plastic roll. I like the click of the latch.
I don’t know if it was already said! But you should fasten the drawer case some how in such a way that it stays in place and doesn’t crush legs if an urgent stop is needed ! Great job by the way.. I love it !
I'm thinking about building something similar, but in my case the drivers side would be a charging station for my drill batteries, jump-starter battery, and a little carry around battery pack that I use to run my laptop for a day or two without "shore power". I like to use light colors inside the drawers so the contents are easier to see in dim conditions. I'll keep heat and ventilation in mind, and route a 12V accessory cable directly into the system. I'm also thinking I'd like a simple system to be sure it stays in place until I want it to move, like a couple of loops and a carabiner for each side. Thanks for a good head start.
Man, you sound like Jim Halpert. The more I listen, the more I’m convinced you must be related.
Very cool box idea.
Very cool idea, I would put some protective piece on the front panel like a rubber or hard plastic. That way when your vacuuming or if someone sits back there. It doesent get scuffed up.
Love this. Dude, this is a Shark Tank moment if ever there was one.
Thanks for the video! I have a 97 short bed f150, with a tool box so I have no space for anymore tool storage in the bed. My seats unfortunately fold down and not up, but! This gave me plenty of Ideas🤘🏼🤘🏼
Very Nice. May I suggest that the top part of the box have hinges so that you can also access your stuff without pulling out the drawers.
Possible alternative to carpet in the drawers are the rubber kitchen shelf mats.
I have them in my motor home and those things are like magnets!
Keeps stuff from shifting and rattling....
This is great! I've been looking for a bed-toolbox replacement since I want to go to a tonneau cover. This is perfect. Thanks, man!
I like that you built it yourself. Nothing beats ability.
My Nissan truck has these built in. Nice work on these .
Very clean looking set up good job
My 2019 F250 came with a built in collapsible box but no drawer...but for the truck bed, I got a Swing case take little room but accommodates a lot of tools.
Still, great job!
Very nicely done. Another idea is to make the drawers open top, and simply mount the slide to the bottom of the drawer, and to the cab floor. Then the whole drawer just slides on the floor of the truck.
Of course this truck is very nice to be modifying the cab floor like that, but on a work truck trim, it's an option.
Kinda turned out like that!

At 17:37, a tip for the hole saw to avoid the peeling of the laminate (seen on the inside). Start drilling your hole and only get it started 1/4 to 1/2 way through. Then, drill from the other side. It makes for a much cleaner edge on the hole. Nice idea for the slider box. Thanks for posting.
I have a second Gen Raptor and want that exact box in metal with locking features for a black rifle on the driver side. You really need to be manufacturing these, as there is nothing on the market (that I can find) that is as nice. Great work by the way!
Matt
Could easily be designed to have one on each side that pulls out with a shoulder holster & pistol and an AR with spare mags.....
In these times of riots, this would be a great money maker..... I hate Ford, but I might be tempted to buy a new truck if I could get that double drawer system....
Rick Sanchez C137 - agreed. I found a lot of room behind my rear seat which is great for a black rifle and Amazon sells a magazine well lock with aircraft cable tether, so I feel fairly secure, but these drawers would be better and quicker to deploy.
Definitely a great idea to patent. I, like most people, have a f150 and would love more storage ( who wouldn't), and low and behold you've created one. Consider me a subscriber. 2 THUMBS UP 👍👍.
Welcome!
Great idea and good explanation on the build. One more thing to consider adding might be some straps to help secure the box in the event of a crash. I think one or two straps attached on the backside would do the trick and might also slow down someone trying to steal a locked version of the box. The latch idea was sweet!
Nice job! My 2008 Tacoma 4 door has both behind the backseat storage and under the backseat storage so no need for me!
Nice. I was more then impressed ! Great design !
I just got my first truck, but getting groceries was a nightmare. And I deff thought of this, but wasn't sure how to execute it. I was thinking pulling apart an old dresser and installing it im my truck. This is excellent 👌
You did a hell of a job on that toolbox! I’ll be making one for mine very soon! Thanks for the how to video
This is really cool, I’m surprised no one (that I’ve seen) has manufactured a setup like this.
Welcome to the future: ruclips.net/video/2OcoYbVbqGE/видео.html
@@ZeroToAwesome oh damn, that’s neat! That’s for replying man, super cool of you!
Great idea. You should try making a single drawer version with locks. It would be great for hunters.
You should patent it and sell the idea to the big 3 truck companies. 👍
NICE ! Built not Bought is ALWAYS More (Valuable) IMO. Plenty are perfectly content “writing a check”, and that’s Them. But, why even Watch vids like this, if you’re so inclined to have others do (it) for you ? 🤷🏻♂️. I mean, CLEARLY this guy has Plenty of Money (looking at his “stable”); but he Still takes the Pride of DIY 👍🏼
Nice project...well done...
Great concept. I made one similar only rather than having 1 with a divider I made it into 2 units that come together using chest latches. I can now remove half if needed.
Great idea!
Well damn, that’s more useful than most of the $1000 toolboxes I’ve seen in the back of trucks.
The best option is Walmart ! I bought a hard plastic rifle case with foam guts from Walmart for - $10 ! All my tools , a chain , a new strap , ball hitch , and other stuff fit in and nothing rattles ! I had to trim some of the foam so the new strap would let it close !
There might be one thing that I would add. A couple of heavy duty velcro strips holding the box to the mat. That way you wouldn't have to worry about it moving forward if you had to make a hard stop.
Awesome design bro, definitely would purchase this.
I got a couple of plastic bins at Target that fit nicely under the rear seats. Easy to transfer them to truck bed when I need to flip up bench seat. Easy peasy and only cost $10
Looks great. I don't have a baby seat but when traveling sometimes we have luggage and to get to bottom is a pain. Great idea
Very ingenious and cool! Well done!
Nicely done; might consider trying it with bottom-mount, rather than side-mount, drawer slides
this is the kind of stuff car manufactures should be doing
Ford would probably sell you this drawer set as an accessory for 800.00 😒
I would like one as well once you figure out how to secure it to the floor or metal brace under the seat. Very cool! Great idea!
my friedn secured on to the metal brace just by adding belts around it and then use some screws to atach the belts it semms good for DIY, he side slide he use some dor stopers on 2side tape :D
This could also work with bent aluminum and a rivet gun if somebody really wanted it to be metal. I really like this, I hadn't thought of that space as a storage space myself. Genius
Awesome idea, storage is very handy in a truck.
It's Awesome !!
I would have used good quality dresser drawer slides or toolbox slides.
The slides you have are over kill.
But killer job !!!!
My right ear loved this video
Nice work sir! Looks great.
Not only do I have "this baby problem" I have this drive shaft hump problem in my 2018 Silverado. I need this in my life. Especially for my "lead thrower"
My right ear enjoyed the audio..but my left ear is now jealous...luckily about 1/2 way through, both ears were happy! :)
Fantastic build! I’ve been wanting to do something like this for my 2011 Silverado. Thanks for the ideas
Had something very similar on my truck when I bought it. It was all metal, Havis product I believe. The truck use to be a tow truck. I ended up removing mine because I hull stuff in the back with the seat folded up all the time. But if one left their seats down all the time I could see it being very useful!
God job man!!! You could probably make these as a side gig!!
I have been working on drawers for the front seats and also thinking about the rear seats on my 78 Suburban. They will be much more square as the older vehicles had an even area front to back under the back seat. I am planning to build mine out of metal and so the slam latches would be great except the front seat ones which I was planning to use solenoid latches as they would not be able to be seen if I did not want to show them to anyone.
I was planning the front ones to carry more expensive things like cameras and such, but they also will be covered by sound deadening material and carpet that is the same as the carpet that will be in the cab of the Suburban. This will allow them to be completely hidden till they are opened.
Sounds great! Good luck with your build!
You a e a genius with excellent skills . I hope the patent goes through for you .
I love your Truck, its beautiful. That color is outstanding. Excellent job on the Tool Box. I have a 2013 Crewcab and might be doing this very soon.
Nice workmanship!
I just love how you say "tools that fire projectiles" because when I saw your drawers... that's immediately what I thought of...I didn't think about 'tools'
Oh dude very nice job great idea and that’s bag holds your jack tools
This is great! I really wish the under seat area under in my '19 ranger had space for something like this. Great work!
Great job and an excellent idea. How about a way to secure the toolbox down so it can not slide around especially forward into someone's foot if they are a passenger in the backseat and you have to brake hard and fast? Just a thought.
Yeah I considered that. So far it hasn’t budged but could be good if there’s an accident
Great job making use of the space in the cab. Very complete and thorough build. Thank you for sharing with us! I look forward to building mine.
Dodge already has a storage compartment option for their trucks. Additionally it also folds out to give you back the flat floor you no longer have. Mine is a 2005 and I’ve been using and loving it all that time.
That’s awesome! Maybe I bought the wrong truck. My top 2 were raptor and power wagon
Very cool man! The black paint looks great, has a factory look on camera at least. Carpet was a great touch too. Really nice. :)
yeah I have an older crew cab f-150(2001 mossy oak trim). my back bench seat doesnt fold up I can fold them down to get to the compartment with my jack. I like the idea tho. Im gonna see if i can get it to work with the seat I have
Good job, looks like it will be very handy.
Right on time my friend...... I was just looking for drawer system for my Rebel. I have a project for next weekend. Thx
Awesome cheers mate, I am making one of these, rugged yet cheap. 👍👌🙏
That's your million bucks! Great job!
Clever idea very clean look 👌 great job!!!!
Life hack - avoid blowout on the back side by clamping a piece of sacrificial wood piece to the back of the facing board THEN drill. You won't have that unfinished look. Also, for a better fit on your handle .. sandpaper the hole on the FRONT side to remove splinters. fits better in the end.
Weathertech makes a storage bin that rides in the same place as the system you made here. They make it out of the same material as their floormats, its an open top bin so you have to lift the seat to get to it, but for those that want out of the way storage and dont have that baby problem, the bin is quicker.
I just tried to do this I you make it look so easy I already gave up on it and just started
What a great design! I am inspired.
Watching this video ! Definitely made me subscribe.. creative and simple at the same time.
Great work looks fantastic
Thanks for sharing Cheers
When you were talking about the bed box, I couldn't get the GET DECKED advertisement it's my head!
Wow dude, it looks like it came for the factory.....Congrats!
I have a couple of minor concerns/questions:
1) Would you also carpet the interior sides of the cabinet and the top inside of the box for less noise? I mean, I could "see"?/hear some metal to metal vibrations as you drive and this would further muffle the noise and offer a bit more protection.
2) I would like to see what the long term effect of those passengers sitting in the back seat. Maybe there is some "give" in the seats and they push down on the cabinet, creating stress....Or the back of their feet hitting the cabinet. There may be a day when you are taking out your buddies for a fish, pulling the boat, and your 2 burly friends sit in the back .......
Thanks!
There is a slight give to the seats. Before I go building mine, I had my “burly :)” boyfriend kinda bounce in the seats. Found there to be a little less than a quarter inch of a “give”. Hope that helps if you make your own. :)
