We boil our meat with onions and celery and garlic than drain and grind everything up together with some cajun seasoning an a lil bread crumbs&a egg and make patties or my uncle makes sausages pretty good great video be careful though

Yes, you gotta try it! make rattle sliders lol but yea if you use bigger/older snakes you gotta add a lil fat to it so when you grind it add a couple raw bacon pieces cuz your gonna fry them up anyways otherwise they will dry out
poison has to be eaten and poison is usually derived from plants and some animals eat those plants and become poisonous venom has to be injected into the body and is usually a form of the animals saliva or mucus

I caught a rattlesnake once. It was feisty. I picked it straight up off the ground with no gloves or hand protection. It started turning and snapping, but I was too quick. I whipped it one good time like a dirty sock and it was lights out for that scaly tube of death. I then chopped off the head and paraded around with it showing my dominance to the other males that were amazed at my achievement. But...what happened next was crazy......I woke up.

First vid of yours I’ve seen. Definitely enjoyed it. By the way, about your question. Rattlesnakes are venomous. If you drink their venom, it won’t hurt you because it’s not poisonous. So if they bite themselves and inject venom into themselves, eating it won’t hurt you. Always remember, venom has to be injected. Poison has to be ingested (some poisons can also be injected or absorbed through contact, but the general point is that venom isn’t something that you have to worry about eating)

I just did this with my two year old son! I caught a baby rattler in our backyard, lopped the head off, and we turned the ordeal into a mini anatomy lesson. I seasoned with garlic powder, salt, and chili powder. My son gobbled it up quick and luckily the bones were so soft and cooked enough that we ate the bones too!

have never heard of this as a defensive behavior. Some snakes will bite themselves if they confuse their tails for prey (notably king snakes), but otherwise biting themselves would be a symptom of a neurological disorder.

A cast iron skillet would be the best to use. so the handle does not burn off. I just don't think I could eat snake. But thank you for making the video. We have a grill ( and a cast iron skillet ) and a lot of tree wood, we had to cut down, that had taken over the yard. Now I can cook outside without getting the house hot

I think poisonous refers to if your going to eat it, and venomous refers to if its going to sting or bite you. Rattlesnakes are venomous, but not poisonous. But we all know what you mean, so its no biggie

Cooking the meat by braising or boiling would probably render the venom ineffective due to dilution, evaporation and millard reaction.
The little ones down here are hard to eat no meat and lots of bones as far as them biting them selves I never herd of that before lol ... and I always thought a fishy rabbit meat to hahaha awesome video guys thanks

What do you use
@@SinCityOutdoors Gotta go with lard or beef tallow. Veg oils break down and oxidize rapidly under heat. This causes carcinogens and arterial plaque but for purposes of this food preparation I would argue lard or beef tallow has by far the better flavor. Lard has a smoke point of 370 which is pretty decent. My least valid argument is that it seems weird to cook meat in oil from a vegetable.

I had rattlesnake someone brought it to a wild game dinner\party I went to it was in Ohio some one brought the snake a day before and I touched the skin and the guy said I could have the skin so I kept it. Really good tasting though.

I believe if you soak it in buttermilk for at least an hour it helps tenderize the meat so its not so chewy. I cooked a couple of timber rattlers here in Georgia. They get pretty big. Also if you batter them like fish it has more flavor.
