To say this was a bromance would be a lie and I think everyone agrees with me. You can actually feel the love between WKX and ZZS. This is the closet novel adaptation I've ever watched and not just bl novels. The writers did a phenomenal job. This series proves that you don't need big budgets and huge fan base to make a hit drama. Good acting, writing and directing are what you need for a beautiful drama

ZZS does not like to get blood on him but he wiped WKX's blood with his sleeves. And this edit broke my heart but also mended it. I'm a bit late to Word of Honor but BOY was it great. To be honest, I liked it even more than The Untamed (which I didn't think was possible...). Their relationship is simply the BEST 🥺 Also, I can't help smiling every time WKX smiles. Most contagious smile I've ever seen 😍

honestly, the actor Xiao Zhan for the time wanderer in _The Untamed_ has a gorgeous smile which easily matches that of Simon Gong. both are unique and irresistable
Wen Kexing is a genuine, outspoken and steadfast character. At the same time, he conceals his deepest fears and tucks them away with conviction. Wen Kexing is the walking elegance. It shows in his movements and in his expression. The way Gong Jun portrays him and is so flawlessly graceful is beyond impressive to me. Zhang Zhehan micro-expressing every single emotion is something I could talk ages about. This whole cast is stunning.
I have to say this is one of the few tv shows in the recent years I’ve been waiting for daily episodes. In the first 12 episodes, I’ve been treating it as “love story” but a lovely one, a one that doesnt have dumb or overpowerful characters. But starting from episode 12 where AXu comforts Laowen telling him youre not bad, I mean, what a brilliant moment! And in the episode 14 Laowen’s selftalk, it’s really sad because he JUST found the light and the meaning of his life and the light is leaving him. If you understand chinese or have a chance to watch other youtuber analysis on the dialogue you will feel the sorrow and grieve even more deeply in 12. Then the more episodes you watch, you will feel that Word of Honor is more than just “soulmate” between two men, it’s about redemption and selfworth. Sometimes man and woman may not achieve this. Wen lives upon revenge initially but now he wishes to live with Axu, whereas Axu wants to enjoy his last few years freely and die but he wishes to live longer now. Few highlighted (personal opinion) scenes I cried: the Wen Axu dialogue in 12, the raining night in 14, Wen Axu wish to sacrifice for each other and stand against Ye in 27, Xiang dies on her marriage in 35, and Wen’s hair turns white when he saves Axu in 36. I’ll always love this tv show and thank you bringing the best Wen and Axu to the audience.

Wenzhou will forever be iconic to me. They're the only BL couple that became immortal lovers in a live action drama and the only same-sex couple thus far with a happy ending in a Mainland Chinese production. They've set the standard for all upcoming BL couples moving forward.
@@embreis2257 Almost. The thing is, BL dramas in China seem to be forbidden from having happy endings - they either need a bad end or an open end. You can see the same apply to Word of Honor with the episode 36 ending that clearly insuniates a bad ending. The writers were smart though and managed to bypass that by putting the actual happy ending in a "music video". The Untamed definitely doesn't have a bad ending, they just had to go with a, like, one minute change at the end to make it "open" kinda. It's really not thaaat bothersome though, especially if you just consider it didn't happen, and instead go with the novel ending in your head.
Why do I start crying every time I look at these two wonders? I've seen so many dramas of all nationalities. So many love stories, but here is something I can't describe. Aside from the extraordinary beauty of the two actors, what shocks me is the perfect chemistry they have created. They are stuck together so much that they form a single person. They had to modify the story a lot to avoid the strict Chinese censorship, but the director and the writers were brilliant, also helped by two masterful interpreters. There is no need for striking scenes or particular gestures. Just a look, a gesture, a word. Love can also be shown in silence. And here there is really a lot of love.❤
I'm amazed that the actors managed to pull off two people loving each other without doing much skinship, Even the staff great Job for picking the right actors and for creating a love story that doesn't need much skinship but you still feel the love.
God this the most beautiful edit I have ever seen! Using five seconds from each episode is galaxy brain idea. Wenzhou’s story - zzs’s want for freedom it’s so powerful he was ready bargain his entire life for three years of freedom and wen kexing is unhinged he wanted the world to burn and go down along with it but as they met they became each other’s reason for survival. They have up everything they knew of for immortality, they regretted meeting each other late but got eternity with each and the hairpin god they are literally married
You have captured the essence of their relationship through actions, longing stares, smiles, concerning gestures like touches and hugs, calling out for each other and fighting scene esp for each other’s protection is truly genius. It’s a long journey for them to find each other’s comfort and the will to live. It’s so touching. Now I Am so conflicted with the Untamed’s Wei Ying and Lan Zhan. Why? I also love that couple, but this one keeps you on your toes with misunderstandings, life/death situation with Zhou Xu’s short lifespan...one thing their love is strong or stronger, at least, A-Xu was willing to jump after Lao Wen and die together after seeing his loved one falling into the abyss, and Lao Wen’s willingness to trade his life for A-Xu at the end!
after i saw the scene where ZZS, without any hesitation, jump over the cliff after WKX it got me thinking about how Lan Zhan did not jump after Wei Ying. i thought that ZZS & WKX's love might be stronger, but then i thought about it more and i have to cut Lan Zhan some slack. when Wei Ying died Lan Zhan was still fairly young. he did not have the maturity that ZZS & WKX have yet to realize how hard it is to find your soulmate. i would say that WKX & ZZS started as already matured men, whereas LZ & WY was still young. after 16 years went by and LZ was reunited with WY again he has become a grown adult and you can see that he is no longer questioning anything about WY anymore. he could barely let him out of his sight. did not care what his sect/family or anyone thinks about him being with WY. he essentially was willing to go against everyone for WY even though he had a very high upstanding reputation. ZZS & WKX does not have family/sect to oppose them being together and they both have killed a lot and have no reputation so they don't have anything to lose. i guess what i'm trying to get at is that both couples love each other deeply but are living different lives with different circumstances. i believe that if Wei Ying had fallen off the cliff the second time around Lan Zhan would be jumping right after him too.
@@redash22 it is because the film maker made up that scene (Wei Ying's falling) which is non - existent in the novel. That scene was really OOC for Lan Zhan, because Lan Zhan of the novel would jump right away.

Gotta love how this sort of doesn't spoil much despite showing important moments (I'm presuming) from all the eps. I'm upto ep 18 and I have no idea what might happen from this. And that's great because I can show it to people who are a little less uptight about spoilers to get them interested in WenZhou and the drama without the video actually spoiling anything significant ^^ Also the freaking music omg... This fact hit me that they can live and die for each other but cannot face each other. ZZS before leaving in episode 36 he used drunk like a dream as he cannot face WKX and want to hide the fact of his approaching death. WKX couldn't reveal his identity fearing that ZZS won't accept him.

You can see in this video how their relationship progressed. At the start, when zzs didn't even want anything to do with wkx, then slowly you see how the love started to bloom. I swear, after THE UNTAMED, this drama rank second in my heart. It was beautiful and I love all the characters. I cry, smile and laugh while watching all the episode. The plot and the story are very well organised and i love the way the actors improvised everything. I mean say bye bye to "censorship". Their interaction are intens and sweet.. full of sugar. I grining all day remembering them. The poems and words full of hidden meaning and historical reference. I am in awe❤

Wen Kexing is a genuine, outspoken and steadfast character. At the same time, he conceals his deepest fears and tucks them away with conviction. Wen Kexing is the walking elegance. It shows in his movements and in his expression. The way Gong Jun portrays him and is so flawlessly graceful is beyond impressive to me.
Zhang Zhehan micro-expressing every single emotion is something I could talk ages about.

It's given me such a high standard for love
I have to say this is one of the few tv shows in the recent years I’ve been waiting for daily episodes. In the first 12 episodes, I’ve been treating it as “love story” but a lovely one, a one that doesnt have dumb or overpowerful characters. But starting from episode 12 where AXu comforts Laowen telling him youre not bad, I mean, what a brilliant moment! And in the episode 14 Laowen’s selftalk, it’s really sad because he JUST found the light and the meaning of his life and the light is leaving him. If you understand chinese or have a chance to watch other youtuber analysis on the dialogue you will feel the sorrow and grieve even more deeply in 12. Then the more episodes you watch, you will feel that Word of Honor is more than just “soulmate” between two men, it’s about redemption and selfworth. Sometimes man and woman may not achieve this. Wen lives upon revenge initially but now he wishes to live with Axu, whereas Axu wants to enjoy his last few years freely and die but he wishes to live longer now. Few highlighted (personal opinion) scenes I cried: the Wen Axu dialogue in 12, the raining night in 14, Wen Axu wish to sacrifice for each other and stand against Ye in 27, Xiang dies on her marriage in 35, and Wen’s hair turns white when he saves Axu in 36. I’ll always love this tv show and thank you bringing the best Wen and Axu to the audience.

Wenzhou will forever be iconic to me. They're the only BL couple that became immortal lovers in a live action drama and the only same-sex couple thus far with a happy ending in a Mainland Chinese production. They've set the standard for all upcoming BL couples moving forward.
Just a recommendation, you should watch The Untamed. Its equally good as this drama.

@@embreis2257 Almost. The thing is, BL dramas in China seem to be forbidden from having happy endings - they either need a bad end or an open end. You can see the same apply to Word of Honor with the episode 36 ending that clearly insuniates a bad ending. The writers were smart though and managed to bypass that by putting the actual happy ending in a "music video".
The Untamed definitely doesn't have a bad ending, they just had to go with a, like, one minute change at the end to make it "open" kinda. It's really not thaaat bothersome though, especially if you just consider it didn't happen, and instead go with the novel ending in your head.
even without the kissing and sex, the drama is still way more romantic than the book lol

Why do I start crying every time I look at these two wonders? I've seen so many dramas of all nationalities. So many love stories, but here is something I can't describe. Aside from the extraordinary beauty of the two actors, what shocks me is the perfect chemistry they have created. They are stuck together so much that they form a single person. They had to modify the story a lot to avoid the strict Chinese censorship, but the director and the writers were brilliant, also helped by two masterful interpreters. There is no need for striking scenes or particular gestures. Just a look, a gesture, a word. Love can also be shown in silence. And here there is really a lot of love.❤
I'm amazed that the actors managed to pull off two people loving each other without doing much skinship, Even the staff great Job for picking the right actors and for creating a love story that doesn't need much skinship but you still feel the love.
God this the most beautiful edit I have ever seen! Using five seconds from each episode is galaxy brain idea. Wenzhou’s story - zzs’s want for freedom it’s so powerful he was ready bargain his entire life for three years of freedom and wen kexing is unhinged he wanted the world to burn and go down along with it but as they met they became each other’s reason for survival. They have up everything they knew of for immortality, they regretted meeting each other late but got eternity with each and the hairpin god they are literally married
You have captured the essence of their relationship through actions, longing stares, smiles, concerning gestures like touches and hugs, calling out for each other and fighting scene esp for each other’s protection is truly genius. It’s a long journey for them to find each other’s comfort and the will to live. It’s so touching. Now I Am so conflicted with the Untamed’s Wei Ying and Lan Zhan. Why? I also love that couple, but this one keeps you on your toes with misunderstandings, life/death situation with Zhou Xu’s short lifespan...one thing their love is strong or stronger, at least, A-Xu was willing to jump after Lao Wen and die together after seeing his loved one falling into the abyss, and Lao Wen’s willingness to trade his life for A-Xu at the end!
after i saw the scene where ZZS, without any hesitation, jump over the cliff after WKX it got me thinking about how Lan Zhan did not jump after Wei Ying. i thought that ZZS & WKX's love might be stronger, but then i thought about it more and i have to cut Lan Zhan some slack. when Wei Ying died Lan Zhan was still fairly young. he did not have the maturity that ZZS & WKX have yet to realize how hard it is to find your soulmate. i would say that WKX & ZZS started as already matured men, whereas LZ & WY was still young. after 16 years went by and LZ was reunited with WY again he has become a grown adult and you can see that he is no longer questioning anything about WY anymore. he could barely let him out of his sight. did not care what his sect/family or anyone thinks about him being with WY. he essentially was willing to go against everyone for WY even though he had a very high upstanding reputation. ZZS & WKX does not have family/sect to oppose them being together and they both have killed a lot and have no reputation so they don't have anything to lose. i guess what i'm trying to get at is that both couples love each other deeply but are living different lives with different circumstances. i believe that if Wei Ying had fallen off the cliff the second time around Lan Zhan would be jumping right after him too.
@@redash22 it is because the film maker made up that scene (Wei Ying's falling) which is non - existent in the novel. That scene was really OOC for Lan Zhan, because Lan Zhan of the novel would jump right away.
@@redash22 you won't be thinking like that if you read the novel. In the novel Lan Zhan actually saved Wei Ying, took him away and acted like a total crazy person... the novel is so beautiful with a happy ending...
Gotta love how this sort of doesn't spoil much despite showing important moments (I'm presuming) from all the eps. I'm upto ep 18 and I have no idea what might happen from this. And that's great because I can show it to people who are a little less uptight about spoilers to get them interested in WenZhou and the drama without the video actually spoiling anything significant ^^
Also the freaking music omg... Like knowing about the seven nails of torment and how Zhou Zishu must be in so much agony throughout and how for the most of it, he believes there's no cure and he's gonna die and him slowly losing his senses-- yeah the music choice enhances all my feelings and I want to cry--

I’m so happy to able to witness a love story that is so pure and beautiful such as theirs. This couple will be forever in my heart. And I’m very thankful to the scriptwriter for giving my guys a much deserved happy ending with them becoming immortals and living together forever and ever ❤️🤧

@@tefanyscott785 Wen Ke Xing and Zhou Zishou tried to sacrifice themselves for one another multiple times; in the end they achieved immortality but need to eat only snow and stay cold on the mountain top in order to retain it, so the world thinks they died except for Chengling essentially, and folks occasionally go up to visit them and get training/consult but otherwise they live together in the armoury, still bickering/flirting over fighting techniques.
