Take an inflated and beaten up one, then charge it with a NIMH charger (assuming the battery has Tamiya connector) and boom, (literally) you have no more home.
Lithium has nothing to do with the volatility of these batteries. Its because they store a ridiculous amount of energy in such a compact package and any short across the internals will cause it all to just dump at once.
Note - keep a lipo at around 3.8 to 3.85 volts or STORAGE (on a lipo charger) when not in use for more than 4 days. Did this frequently and fully charge it when going to use them, works wonders. Keeping a lipo at full for a week can lead to damage to the cells. A note on 2:33. A constant current constant voltage power supply will not overcharge a lipo. What can happen on the other hand is that it has no balance port for your balance leads (aka those dangling tiny wires). That means if they get to a point where they are out of balance and are charged by what is essentially a power supply the pack voltage may remain the same for a fully charged lipo but one or more cells could be over 4.2v per cell (full voltage per cell for any amount of cells) leading to swelling and potentially a venting of the cell. As a general rule if you check each cell voltage and (from lowest cell to highest cell ) the difference is no more than 30 - 50mv or .3 to .5 volts. Could save you a battery. I may be just starting airsoft but I have built several 18650 packs with some over 36v. In summary get yourself a decent charger and a lipo checker! These can tell when you might run into trouble and typically show the deviation or difference from the highest cell to the lowest in terms of voltage. I would recommend a cell charger (ISDT has a good one) and a charger that at bare minimum has a storage function. Sorry for the blurb but I think this memo might make people think more about lipo safety. Appreciate the content and I understand where your coming from in terms of making content that is easy to digest without making it 40 minutes long. Keep it up!
"LiPo bags", won't contain a fire, there are plenty of videos here on youtube showing that. You'll need a purpose designed storaged box for LiPos to keep them "fire safe", like Batsafe or something similar. And LiPo batteries can catch fire despite using a dedicated, balanced LiPo smart charger. They can also catch fire just laying in storage. It's not a bad idea to have 2 Batsafe boxes, 1 big for storage and 1 smaller for charging and transporting LiPos to the airsoft field.
@@SnapRasta Titan and Zion arms have already been putting them in the market these days. They're doing really well, by the look of it, and I already bought some. As a Gasblowback user, I don't know much about airsoft Lipo batteries. I appreciate this video because it is a really important topic. But I also wish airsoft stores would carry and recommend better quality chargers that not only charge but also let you properly charge/discharge for storage after game day. There are other chargers, commond for RC hobby, that let you have a lot more control over the charger for a safer experience and one that lets your batteries last a lot longer as well. I had that same tenergy charger for nearly a decade, but recently bought a more functional charger and it was revolutionary for how I can manage my batteries. It also isn't healthy to store you lipos fully charged which is all that charger can do. Storage should be at 50% charge.
me coming from the rc hobby: *_heh_* In all honesty though, LiPo chargers nowadays are cheap you can get a toolkitrc branded one for under $40 and it can only not just charge LiPo but a plethora of other battery chemistries
While LiPo safety is very important NEVER 'top off' a battery when it's going to be stored for a anything linger then 24 hours. A Lipo that's fully charged has more Danger of failing then a LiPo that is at 50% charge. In general you want the cell voltage to be between 3.7-3.8 volts per cell. So for a 2s 7.4-7.8 volts is a safe storage voltage and so on for the larger batteries.
Should I buy a smart charger for my Venom Pro? I find it hard to believe that a company would release such a dangerous item to the public if the included charger is not safe. I charged it one time and it has a built in light that turns off when it’s fully charged. Isn’t that enough?
I just got a Kwa lucy 4 about a month ago from you guys and it’s amazing! If I wanna upgrade the inner barrel what type of barrel should I get?? I’m new at this
You will first need to know the length of your inner barrel in mm so you don't get one to big or small then a 6.03 barrel is a solid tightness smaller than that and it will need to be cleaned more and you may also want to consider getting a heavier metal barrel like steel that will reduce vibrations in the inner barrel. With barrel upgrade you might want to also grab a new hop up if you want to improve your performance further.
I got rid of my AEGs and the batteries when i became a father, moved to GBB easier to work on and to "power" the replica is simple, i mostly play indoor so i use air duster gas to keep me at a lower FPS and its far less dangerous than these batteries.
Your rifle should be able to function on normal green gas and still be under the FPS limit unless your field has some exceptionally low FPS limits, your average TM MWS will hit the 320 to 330 range on green gas. But at least you're having fun!
