A little About Us: "We are a 'think outside of the box' couple who find ways to create our big dreams with very little money. We built a floating river house and turned a chevy van into a camper. Now we are turning a shuttle bus into a tiny home camper as well. Follow along as we build, travel and play!

Great job. You got another sub. i am doing the same build. I might go with half light steel door and i think i might ad a threshold to the floor to keep the water out? maybe a gas strut to hold open and a frame for screen inside. As Happy said window tint for sure. Im looking forward to see your build.

Great job. We have six kids and bought one for our catering and to get around in comfort. I want to put a door on it like that for the same reason. Thanks for the ideas

    Thank you. Very nicely done.
I will need to do the same install.
I pray all goes well with my install.
    God Bless you both

I would suggest that you put tint on it to keep the glass from going everywhere in case of accident or attempted break n

We just got a 26 foot model given to us with a 7.3 diesel and allison 5 speed. Engine is not running but with only 200k on it I can surely fix it.

Oddly enough, I'm about to buy the same bus, in Minnesota. With the same rusted out stairs, which will have to be cut out. Great timing with this video.

Us too. Our stairs are ok but we are chopping and welding all the rot and rust. The styrofoam was literally structural as the metal beams rotted away. You just never know how much rot there will be until it is opened up!

That is a great Idea and it looks amazing too !
I would add a latch Gaurd on the outside to prevent easy tampering with the latch.

@@DreamingBigSC Check out his channel for the build vids. Hope others get some ideas. I'm figuring out now how to install a 12,000 btu split unit a/c heat pump. Going to have to cut hole in floor and let 14 inches of the 22 inch tall outside unit hang underneath for the fans/vents. Other wise it would drag on stuff. Going to be a real challenge...and prob first one ever done.

Lowes has a door Venetian blind attachment that attaches to the door's glass frame on the inside. It fits over the doors glass, and "sandwiches" the blind between the glass frame and the door's glass. You can raise and lower the blinds, and adjust the blinds angle by two knobs on the side of the attachment.

Thank you for the videos! I just bought a shuttle bus! I have zero experience building anything but plan to try to do it myself with hopefully some help from friends! I’ve been watching tons of videos! My question is regarding insulation. Yours is the only build I’ve seen where are you did not put in insulation. Even before seeing your build I was very curious as to if it could be done without doing all of the insulation and have it still be very livable and comfortable. I was excited to see your build! Seems so much easier! Especially for someone like me who doesn’t know what I’m doing! However I do plan to be in very hot and very cold places. I don’t want to get done with my build and wish I would have insulated it in the first place. What are your feelings on this? Do you feel you would be more comfortable had you insulated it? Do you feel it doesn’t really make much difference? Thank you so much!

We are building out a bus too and I just found that exact same door on our local market place. After seeing your video I feel more confident in purchasing it and how to install it.
    Great video 👍🏼

Thanks for your videos. I have subscribed. I hope you will read and respond to my comments and questions. I bought my shuttle last month. The door really rattles and squeaks! I was wondering if you could tell us how fitting this insulated house door made your vehicle quieter and warmer and by how much, in your opinion. Thanks!

You may want to have a piece of aluminum bent to put over the top of your door to keep water💧 from sleeping in through the top and having the door swell up on you in the future.

    • @DreamingBigSC

So far it has been wonderful! It gives us a great view when we are driving (no blind spots) and the door has taken the occasional rock from a passing car with no issues. Our only problem so far was the original door handle was the cheapest one Walmart sells. After about 7 months of driving the vibration broke something loose inside the lock and we had to replace it with a better one.
