I think I finally understand why Dark considers himself the best player in the world. Other players play to win. Dark plays to entertain. That means he's going to do every strategy imaginable, regardless of viability. He'll take every gold base and mix in terrible cheeses because if they work, they'll make highlight reel games.
I'm starting to think this is the way Dark thinks, which is probably what makes him so entertaining.
honestly I don't believe any player at that level can afford to sacrifice winrate for entertainment. Might be more of a side effect of being unpredictable.

It's delusional to think that Dark plays to win. Dark plays to feed on his enemies anxieties, thus entertainment emerges from the wow factor on how far one can play the game to play the game.
His win rate is just a side effect.
Hmm more like he does new strategies to test them out to win more... I don't think they care much about entertaining. They practice in houses and ladder. Not some circus. As much as we like to think they're humouring us I don't think they do. Such as in football or any other popular sports.

I just wanna thank you again, Winter. I believe this is the first Astrea match I've watched that wasn't against Scarlett since I came back a few months ago to Pro SC2. Not that there is anything wrong with that match. I was just hoping for a bigger sample size of him considering he is a top NA talent. You provided an excellent example. He's actually quite a player. Again, not that I had any doubt. I have watched him play Scarlett several times now.

@@Redzpro725 and now I've found a second possibly more surprising one. I don't usually see anyone but the best able to shut Clem down like that since I've been back. He can usually adapt, but some of those Storms were just so on point. His initiations were also so clinical on multiple fronts. I think I found a favorite.
I thought the first game would never end, as a Zerg main I was hoping for Dark to win but as a BattleMage and former Protoss main I was rooting for Astrea; gotta respect the non-Airtoss Micro skills.💎🧙♂

Astrea has been doing an outstanding job the past few games, his Micro is still a bit behind the those like Maxpax and Hero but I'm seriously enjoying his games as of late.

These matches are too good. I don't care if it was a 2-0 those games didn't feel like the blowout the score shows.

The biggest difference between the very best players (Dark, Clem, Several, Maxpax etc) and the "next tier pro players" seems to be that the top tier pros *somehow* don't really take damage from random runbys most of the time. I don't know how they do it though
Winter, if the title was "@*%$ you, this is a blank screen for 45 minutes" I'd still watch.
Dumb diamond toss (on his spare time) here but... esp in the 2nd game, while he had all his momentum, pretty sure he could have found the resources for a single stargate and a couple voids... obviously won't do much vs ling/ravager, but just the presence of them assures any overseer that goes with the army won't go far without queen support, and best case won't go back home. Given the amount of stalkers on the field, corruptors weren't even a serious option

I feel like at lower leagues disrupters are absolutely brutal to deal with. Nobody can split well enough so lose everything to them usually. (Including myself) If my opponent gets mass disrupters im pretty much dead. I think they are massively OP below GM.

Dark is my favourite SC2 player. While Serral is probably the SC2 goat, Dark's unorthodox strategies make his games extremely fun to watch. I especially love how he keeps managing to sneak groups of zerglings and roaches into his enemy's base even while under heavy pressure, then survives at home and goes ahead because of the economic damage and chaos he engineered.
I mean, serral does exactly the same thing, minus the unorthodox strategies. He runs by zerglings all the time, he's really good at it. His infestors sneaking around are legendary :D
@@asdfasdf-mn8iuDark is more unpredictable, but I love watching both legends. Serral is better at long-term macro.

Hi! Very new to starcraft, how could one noob enjoy the fun of starcraft without knowing how to play?
Or better said, without knowing how to play good?
It seems to me so overwhelming that I'd just rather watch videos and enjoy this beatiful game that way :D.
Me personally usually just play the co-op gamemode. most people that play rts's dont even jump into ranked pvp so their is no shame in enjoying the more casual parts

Just play the campaign to get used to the basic controls and check out the storyline. Eventually you'll feel comfortable enough to play multiplayer and there are plenty of tutorials on RUclips that can help you with that.
If you were never allowed to attack probes/ drones/ scv's what race do you think would be the strongest race?

Can someone please explain to me why not build a couple Void Rays in game 1? Like not even that many, just have a Stargate or 2 in the back and build 6-8 void rays then jump the Lords with them (assuming they go unscouted)
Maybe even a couple tempests? Just 2 or 3?

Its more that Protoss is vastly underpowered.
Zerg IS strong. All races are in their own way.
Zerg spell casters are absurd, for example.

I went back over it a dozen times or more and the only options I can think of are either it was a graphical bug or Dark accidentally attacked his ravager instead of the nexus and something weird happened in the physics
First Astrea kills one of Darks ravagers. The dead body of the ravager gets dragged along under the rest of Darks army. Then when the bottom ultra does its first attack on Astreas Nexus, its left blade moves back to prepare the attack while hitting the dead body of the ravager and catapulting it 100 meters to the left. It was a slight physics engine bug

disruptors are actually such garbage at this level it's insane. You spend like 1k/1k on 6-7 disruptors over the course of a long game and get like 2 creep tumors and a ravager

People always try to out econ zerg after damage. Zerg knows this and drones up way faster than you can with two nexi. If he just all in attack after the Stargate damage he would have crushed him 1st attack.

Man all he had to do was blink forward with the overwhelming stalker force when he had the advantage, but he kept playing scared until Dark could turn the tide.
