  • We are in front of quarters for FDNY Engine 24, Ladder 5, and Battalion 2 at Houston Street and 6th Avenue, where we see Engine 24 and Battalion 2 go on a run for a call of fire in multiple dwellings at 310 Greenwich Street at Duane Street. The engine was 2nd due. The location is actually the campus for Borough of Manhattan Community College. As it would turn out, this was a false alarm, as both companies returned within a few minutes of the video being taken. Engine 24 is a 2009 Seagrave Marauder Pumper with a 500 gallon tank and a 2000 gpm pump. Battalion 2 is a 2008 Ford Excursion. Enjoy the sound of the automated voice as well as the bells and the EQ2B of Engine 24. If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me. Comments are welcome. The video was taken on June 4th, 2013.

    So much different from how Chicago responses. They have bigger bay areas and they have a automated voice system that tones them out. Also they move a little faster when they get a fire because they got to beat the other engine to the scene first.

      haha you mean there's competitiveness in the Chicago Fire Service too ? J/K...It's soo bad in Detroit, even the Squads want to beat everyone else, and they have no water !!!

    New York has got to have a surplus of light bars. They just sprinkle them on their emergency vehicles.

    @SadWatermelon, They hook to the exhaust pipes of the apparatus & pump the exhaust outside.

    what are the big hoses used for that appear to be attached to the fire appliance and seem to release its self as appliance pulls off?

    • @FL92002
      @FL92002  9 лет назад +12

      +chevy790 Those are Nederman exhaust hoses which suck up the exhaust from the tail pipes and eject them through a vent in the roof. The reason for that is so that the exhaust smoke and CO2 doesn't fumigate the apparatus floor and other rooms off the floor.

    What are the 2 tightly fixed light bars on all the battalions for?? I never really knew.

    • @mrengine9
      @mrengine9 8 лет назад +3

      Hi-Risers. They're can sit straight up so traffic can see the emergency lights from afar

      I figured that's what they were, just never seem them in actual use.

      Aren't they also called "Tunnel Bars" for use at scenes in tunnels and on bridges? I don't know who the manufacturer is and I can only think of FDNY when asked who else uses them. Pretty good idea actually.

      the NYPD also runs Hi-risers on they highway patrol cars, and the NY state police highway units have recently adopted them too

    If it's a "multiple dwelling fire", then why didn't the ladder respond as well?

    Tight bay. Check out the Battalion Chief's SUV. Who's getting in that passenger side door ? LOL.... And a HUGE thank you and big shout out to the firefighter that approaches the camera, wearing shorts and a t-shirt, mustache, sneezes into his hand then wipes it onto his shorts ! We had a guy nicknamed "Shitterhands" because he was the chef, and was caught numerous times after taking a shit not wiping his hands !!!

    Why wasn’t there a tiller in there & the Ladder that was there was a strait stick that had a 9 on it & that doesn’t make sense because L-9 is a TowerLadder . Very strange

    • @happyfacew97
      @happyfacew97 5 месяцев назад

      Because at the time it was using a spare. Ladder 5 is a tiller company but it was using an aerial ladder. Probably due to no spare tillers available
