- We are at quarters of FDNY Engine 8, Ladder 2, and Battalion 8 at 165 East 51st Street, where we see Ladder 2 as it responds to Box 4500 at 720 5th Avenue at West 56th Street for a stuck elevator with an occupant in it. Ladder 2 is a brand new 2017 Ferrara Ultra with a 100 foot rear mount aerial. As Ladder 2 responds, we see Engine 8 as they return from a run that they had been on. Engine 8 is a 2008 Seagrave Marauder II. Enjoy the view of the brand new rig. If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me. Comments are welcome. The video was taken on March 6th, 2018.

Love these videos proves FDNY could never get out the door in the required 60 seconds.
Nice! Philly has Squrt-8 & TL-2 Housed Together!
I always appreciate videography that captures the FDNY Registration Number. Thanks.
Three minutes out the door seems like a long time, but I think it is recommended by the NFPA that it shouldn't take any longer than that. What I don't get is why the driver , or in FDNY parlance, the chauffer turns on the emergency lights before starting the engine. It puts an unnecessary strain on the batteries
Great catch!
Nice catch!
That’s a nice rig
One leaves as another one enters.👍😁😎
Ferrara is the name of a very Nice city in north Italy :-) if you can/want, visit it :-)
Nice truck and elevator rescue suck! By the time they get there the maintenance crew for the building probably got it working again anyway. Oh well great looking truck
thats the whole idea.
A lot of them end up being unoccupied
Clearly not the fastest response in FDNY history - 3 minutes from tones out the door, but the video and ladder are great
John Mitchem It's a frigging elevator call. Complain if it was a building fire.
Dude its a bullshit run they probably do about 15 of those a night in that place.Every truck in the city responds like that to an elevator or water leak .
they’re probably not even the first piece lmfao calm down
its a truck only response only 1 unit responding ,also probably the change of tours too.
agree,,,that was pretty bad......
Пипец да они ахринели, у нас от 30 секунд и до одной минуты на выезд, а они вообще не торопятся.
@emergency response channel Look who's driving
One thing that I’ve been wondering about over the last few years, what are those articulated hoses hanging from the ceiling in the truck bay for?
They get hooked up to the truck to get exhaust fumes out of the firehouse when the truck is running.
@@FL92002 thank you. Good to know
Awesome Video. Think You Can Do Some Ride Alongs?
The thing I like about lader 2 is snoopy on the bage

ladder*
Wonder when bids will go out to replace the 08 seagraves
Christopher Kradzinski who will they go with? I’d like to see them go with Pierce.
@@americanoutdoorsman_1133 well they have seagraves on order now and in production
Why does the truck have what looks like "10-10" written reversed on the inside of the windshield? Any idea?
That's the height of the truck, to remind the chauffeur when they drive on parkways
@@FL92002 Ah! Thank you, now I realize it's 10' 10" and not just "10-10." That's actually pretty smart. Better than doing it the U-Haul way and putting it to where you have to look in the mirror to see your 13'6" height.
Does the FDNY have LDHs on any of their engines?
Yes but usually just pony sections. You’ll rarely see them having to lay a long stretch like most other FDs. Half the time they could spit on a plug when they pull up.
Why call the fire brigade to a stuck elevator? I mean, there's a emergency number you call if it gets stuck so seems like a waste of resources to call for additional help? It's another story if someone in the elevator gets sick or something...
Effen Bamm probably someone inside
Some places that is the protocol. The university where I’m a fire and safety specialist, before and after hours that’s what we have to do
In NYC the FD goes to just about every complaint in the city. It's just how it is.
Brian Cetin Unfortunately it’s not just NYC. Almost every dept. I know of pretty much runs all of the “don’t know who to call? let’s just give it to the fire dept.” 🤦🏼♂️
Can anybody tell me why has a firefighter an EMT-Patch on his right shoulder? Is he a medic too? 0:42
Thanks!
They sure do take their time responding ???
craig afdahl in the beginning it sounded like they were being dispatched for a stuck elevator
porque se demoran tanto :o
Je ne connais pas la nature du départ mais c'est plutôt décontracté, dans nos casernes les départs se font en courant sinon tu manquais l'engin bonjour les dégâts avec le chef
Hope thats a water leak.
They work 24 hours shifts non stop... that the reason they take their time...
No excuse
Actually, FDNY doesn’t work 24s. They work day tour 9a-6p and night tour 6-9
@@celticrunes1911 We were talking about that the FDNY bought a brand new ladder when the other was less than 10 years.
That's what they signed up for...
Fire department New York?
Yes
What means rig
"Rig" is a slang word for the fire vehicles.
What means you
Slowly
all the ones saying how slow they are the same ones that could never do the job that NYFD does.
Being a retired Fire Fighter, and with all due respect you guys a slow as shit getting out of that Fire House.
As a retired firefighter you should know that 99% of what they are responding to is complete bull$hit. Just out of curiosity when you retired did they let you keep the recliner?
I don't even understand why the fire brigade is called to a stuck elevator? At least where I live every elevator has a number you call if it gets stuck, never seen firefighters arrive on the scene.
@@simonnyman9031 The biggest reason is because of the real possibility that the occupants will need to be evacuated by less than safe means. There are those who don't do well in confined spaces and those with medical conditions which can be exacerbated by remaining trapped for extended times. FD has a very fast response time and can facilitate an emergency evacuation faster.
@@845835 You are so right! I didn't know these apparatus were spec out with a crystal ball!
@@robsmith2523 No they are not but they are spec out with rescue equipment, EMT's and training on how to evacuate people from stuck elevators all while being located throughout the city.
Why do american fire trucks look like there all 20 years old 😂
Colcop cause they get used all the time lol
Nitty Gritty TV, haha i mean the type of model.
Why make them look like fuckin space ships when the classic look is already beautiful??? I don’t see a thing wrong with them myself.
Great catch!
